Hamas launched the biggest attack on Israel in years over the weekend on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, prompting Israel to declare war for the first time since 1973. At least 1,100 people were killed in the terrorist attack and 2,000 more wounded, according to Israel's national rescue service.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Monday that Israel's fierce offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip has ‘only started.’
Netanyahu delivered the pronouncement in a nationally televised address as Israel pressed ahead with a third day of heavy airstrikes in Gaza following Hamas' unprecedented and deadly incursion into Israel.
Netanyahu in broadcast remarks recounted how some Israelis were killed during the Hamas incursion, saying tied-up children were executed. This, he said, was on par with brutal killings carried out by Islamic State, also known as ISIS.
UK’s Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, vows solidarity with Israel at synagogue as dueling rallies held in London.

On Monday, British leaders from across the political spectrum issued an almost unanimous declaration of support for Israel. Sunak attended a service at the Finchley United Synagogue.
The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is assisting the families of several individuals in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, including 20-year-old Nathanel Young, who was killed while serving with the Israeli military on Saturday.
Danny Darlington, a photographer, went into hiding in a bunker in Nir Oz, and Jack Marlowe, a security guard, was also thought to have been killed.
Thousands of Israelis and British Jews attended a vigil in London to show support for family and friends in Israel.
UK Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis addressed the gathering, and was followed by senior Conservative politicians and the leader of the Liberal Democrats.
Australia’s leaders condemn ‘abhorrent’ scenes after anti-Jewish chants filmed at Sydney rally.

Pro-Palestine protesters were filmed chanting anti-Jewish sentiments in Sydney on Monday night, and the prime minister and foreign affairs minister condemned the chants.
Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong told ABC Radio National that antisemitic language is unacceptable and that Australia should stand firm against all prejudice.
NSW premier Chris Minns said the police's decision to allow the protest was "operational" and warned anyone caught taking part in "racial vilification or incitement of hatred or incitement of violence" would be charged.
Thousands of people join Paris rally in support of Israel.

Some 20,000 people rallied in support of Israel in central Paris with the Eiffel Tower lit in the flag of Israel.
The crowd was mainly Jewish, but a number of Christians and Muslims also took part, saying they were horrified by the shooting, murders and abduction of civilians by Hamas.
