Excellent analysis. The critics of Israeli actions, and this includes the internal critics, do not have the survival of Israel and the Jews as their #1 goal. All I can say is, "Persevere." Keep the goals solid, methodically check off the items from the "to do" list, and the critics be damned.

You have to admire such astute military strategy while being hindered at every step by the Biden administration (but since Biden was non compos mentis, who was at the wheel?)

Interestingly, one move that was not mentioned was the Israeli responses to the missiles that were launched by Iran. While JB insisted that Israel “take the win” (what win? A defense that proved effective?) and took out with one singular missile the anti-aircraft Russian S-500 defense system to one of Iran’s nuke plants, the 2nd response was even more impressive which knocked out all of the Iranian air defenses and now has left Iran totally vulnerable to Israel’s next attack which will be the elimination of Iran’s nuke ambitions. Who much for the American (Dems) policy of “de-escalation to prevent a widespread regional war”.

This now gives Israel total air superiority and impunity to act anywhere in the region that it desires.

Interesting how Nasrallah reacted to the pager attack! He saw they were defeated.

The final thing not discussed was the death of the Iranian president Ebraheim Raisi. Bad weather and mountains and a pager with so little explosive s that when that went off the helicopter pilot lost orientation and got confused and hit a mountain! No proof but very possible the test run for Hezbollah pager attack.

From Columbia to Berkeley Palestine will be free. Yes Palestine will be free. From NO other Land to Susan Sarandon, Palestine is free. From NYU to NY Times....you get my message. Of course your analysis is correct. I've written my latest letter to NY Times book review of pankaj Mishra's book by Istanbul bureau chief....no less....for the internet circular file. ...At least you are read here. If not the NY Times. Yes, long line to see No other land with mixed ages and I'm sure at least half Jewish with minds all ready made up that Palestine will be free as they sit around this year's seder table.

According to The Scroll 3/25/2025: Eighty-three SJP chapters, including Columbia’s, signed and put out a document in support of Hamas on midnight at the end of the day of Oct. 7, 2023, and the suit implies that these documents must have been written, edited, and signed well before the attacks transpired, meaning that these groups indeed were aware that the slaughter was going down. The Bears for Palestine solidarity statement, shared on Oct. 8, 2023, as part of a national SJP toolkit, honored Hamas terrorists’ actions as a “revolutionary moment” in Palestinian resistance. The Day of Resistance Toolkit included Oct. 7-themed graphics, one of which Kiswani published on Instagram on Oct. 7, a day before the toolkit was released. The creators of that toolkit argued that Israelis killed during the massacre couldn’t be civilians because they were “occupiers.”

Great article Joshua - to bring some levity to the situation - a mate of mine sometime back said that in '48 we knew that we would be surrounded by people that hate us - should have moved to Bournemouth (a British seaside town) - and would have been great for the hospitality businesses !

It is possible that Yoav Gallant’s proposed strategy would have been better.

First, we will never know if the attack Gallant proposed would have succeeded. Perhaps it would have, perhaps Hezbollah might have launched some ballistic missiles at Tel Aviv, the Haifa refineries or Dimona - maybe they would all have been intercepted, maybe not.

Second, the big unknown had Gallant prevailed and Israel launched an all-out attack on Hezbollah on October 11 remains the Biden Administration’s reaction. Based on its later publicly expressed concerns over “escalation”, its early (and never explained) decision to adopt Hamas talking points on casualties, claims of disproportionate attacks, collective punishment of “innocent” civilians at risk of starvation and the like (with an unprecedented public nod to the antisemitic trope of vengeful, bloodthirsty Jews) and the eventual cutting off of certain munitions to the IDF - and all before we include in this list any mention of the almost immediate call by the State Department for a ceasefire, one might be inclined to defer to the restraint shown by Netanyahu.

As Prime Minister, it is his duty to balance political relationships with Israel’s key ally with strategic military decisions. Gallant’s job was to press the military solution, a far narrower focus.

"Iran-backed elements, particularly Hamas cells, were actively seeking to exploit the chaos to open a second full-blown front in the West Bank, including cities like Jenin and Nablus."

Interesting question: what would have been fallout if Judea and Samaria had become a third front by launching Hamas style Oct. 7th attacks on Israel, as discovery of tunnels and arms caches in the area indicates?

One possible outcome would be the Judean and Samarian Arabs declaration of war on Israel through launching armed conflict legally and fully abrogated in whole Oslo and subsequent agreements.

Another possible outcome would have been hostilities initiated by the Judean and Samarian Arabs once and for all demonstrated to the world that the provisions of Oslo were not and could not be enforced (as if Western governments, the Media and Academia ever cared to begin with).

Yet another would be the dissolution of the divisions of Israel's heartland, areas A, B, and C imposed by Oslo and their return to one, unified territory as an integral part of Israeli territory.

Finally, it would render null and void Israel's Supreme Court ruling that Israel is holding the Judea and Samaria under "belligerent occupation" because according to UN International Law, these areas belong to Israel through "Uti possidetis juris," the very law the UN itself applied to post-WWII boundary disputes in Europe, Asia, and elsewhere.

In America and in Israel the Deep State is thwarting the will of the people and the function of the government. This is not patriotism or democratic. It’s an elite group trying to aggregate power and run the respective countries from behind the scenes. It has to be stopped. Israel has done a remarkable job under siege from without and within.

Sadly, October 7th should never have happened. No excuses, there was a serious lapse of security. While Israel's military response has been great, it has not been perfect. Too many Israeli soldiers have lost their lives. But, where Israel has failed miserably is their ability to control the narrative. They have lost the propaganda war to Hamas. This has caused a global insurrection and expansion of anti-Semitism, a price being paid by Jews in every country. Defense is the best offense and avoidance is the best defense. Hopefully Israel will wipe out Hamas now and that should cause the other Muslim terrorists to think twice before attacking.
