Ben Cohen, the co-founder of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream who often reminds audiences that he "was born a Jew," continues his crusade against the Jewish state.
Since the public announcements from this self hating Jew, I have stopped buying their products. I recognize that my actions don’t mean anything to them financially, but I believe I have a moral responsibility to
My people to do what I can whe I can. It is a shame because admittedly, I loved their products. But I will not support them whatsoever and I hope others take the same stand.
I am alternately enraged and exhausted by these progressive Jews, who have no connection to Judaism or Am Yisrael other than through the happenstance of their birth, using their erstwhile Jewishness to defend their demonization of Israel and support for those seeking to destroy Israel.
The reality is any ‘Palestinian entity’ would result in the resumption of the Islamist terrorist War against Israel under the protection of Statehood, leading to the murder against millions of Jews. Thus, the military Might to prevent this beats any ‘moral Right’ which would result in total Genocide against The Jewish People. This is the sad realpolitik of the situation in Judea and Samaria. This is what Hamas turned Gaza into, and would happen again, with the support of The Nazi Party here in London which we have monitored. This is the reality. And everyone now knows this.
I haven’t bought Ben & Jerry’s ice cream for years because of his self hatred. Haagen Dazs is superior and healthier. I am not a Jew with trembling knees.😽🇮🇱
Haagen Dazs recently became my favorite, after reading the ingredients are free of additives as other brands have. It is the best!
Meanwhile let me say when I heard of the Ben and Jerry's boycott, I thought to myself how stupid is it to do that. Ice cream is one thing virtually everyone agrees is a good thing. It makes no statement other than being a delicious food. And one more thing. If Mr. Cohen would look at a map of the Middle East he could see what Israel is up against. Israel would be one color and those countries hostile to Israel surrounding would be a contrasting color. It's pretty impressive how they have remained in existence with so many attacks against them. Looking at that map I wonder how people have the courage to live there. Mr. Cohen should be proud of the Land of his ancestors. And finally let me say the idea of watermelon ice cream makes me gag and how appetizing is the black part, except to remind me of hamas flags.
The opponents of Israel, most especially the Jewish ones, keep repeating the same two demands, neither of which they ever put to other countries or peoples, and neither of which they come close to clearly articulating, as clear articulation would strip away the pretense of moral concern to reveal the demented hypocrite beneath.
First is the "selective quotation of Jesus", meaning that Jews must be MORE Christian than actual Christians. They must always turn the other cheek, lie down like lambs among the lions, love their neighbors like themselves, open their borders and homes to the suffering stranger, even if the stranger has stated repeatedly his desire to kill every Jew he can get his hands on. Jews need to be a "light for the Gentiles", and no concession can ever be enough, as this is a superhuman request that people only make at a safe distance, with the real hope being the sacrificial blood spilled elsewhere will make their lives easier; and
The second demand is the Beinart demand, that Jews are meant to be stateless, homeless, powerless, always a guest in someone else's home, because this is the meaning of being Jewish, even if it means dissolving Israel into some binational fantasy, where once again sacrificial blood must be spilled to make other people feel safer, less conflicted and less anguished about their Jewishness. These people prefer their Jews to be symbols rather than humans, even if they're dead symbols.
But really it's the same demand: Israel must allow itself to be dissolved or overrun so Diaspora Jews can feel better about themselves, so they're never put in the position of defending their own people, as this would risk their social status and also (even more importantly) risk the self-image they've carried around since college, that they are not parochial rubes but humanitarian universalists who love and support everyone equally, as all Good Christians do.
The Ben Cohens of the world are preening hypocrites with no skin in the game who think their smelly 1960s slogans can survive a moment in the real world as a real argument w real lives at stake. But it's all moral vanity from top to bottom, completely irrelevant to the actual situation.
The Jewish community itself is complicit is misusing terms, adding to the misunderstanding of the issue by its own constituents. Largely, it speaks of the West Bank, rather than Judea and Samaria and, as Mitch Schneider noted, refers to disputed territories as occupied. It also calls the Jewish residents of those disputed area settlers, but never refers to the Arab occupants that way.
That guy is such an idiot. In good news, I used to have a terrible time resisting Ben and Jerry's after a long day at work, and when I bought a pint at the corner store I'd eat it all at once. Once I found out that they were anti-Israel, the stuff basically had bugs in it as far as I'm concerned. I have not had a bite of it since or wanted any. Cured!
That's a very well-written article that makes excellent points. The brand Ben & Jerry's reminds me of a time years ago when that company was sued by an animal rights activist over the discrepancy between the brand's moral posturing to obtain milk from "happy cows" while at the same time getting some of its milk from factory farms (industrial livestock operations) that critics argue have poor animal welfare standards.
My point here is that Ben and Jerry's has a history of virtue-signaling and making dubious claims of moral superiority that are inconsistent with the truth. For Leftists, this habit constantly creates cognitive dissonance and emotional turmoil, leading to unconscious defense mechanisms such as displaced aggression and scapegoating. This provides a psychological explanation, in my view, for why Lefists tend to selectively scapegoat Israel while ignoring the massive human rights violations committed by China or Iran.
Bizarrely, even some so-called "intersectional" animal rights activists have joined in on this empty moral posturing by attacking Israel while ignoring the fact that its animal welfare standards are the best in the region: Israel was the first country in the Middle East to enact broad animal anti-cruelty legislation and Tel Aviv has been dubbed "Vegan Capital of the World."
These intersectional activists would label what I have just said as "veganwashing" Israel. However, "veganwashing" is little more than a pejorative label used to delegitimize genuine ethical progress and apply a double standard to the only democracy in the Middle East. When other countries pass animal welfare laws, they're praised, while Israel, in contrast, is selectively condemned. These anti-Israel activists treat animals as mere political pawns and ignore the actual reduction in suffering achieved by grassroots lobbying from the Israeli animal rights community. I would argue that these intersectoinal activists don't care about animals or animal welfare at all, but are instead misusing the movement to demonize Israel. Sadly, this issue has divided the animal rights community in recent years, prompting some Jewish animal rights activists to feel ostracized within that community.
It should also be added that Leftists not only tend to turn a blind eye to Islamic atrocities; they sometimes also foster a perverse romance with Islamists, as document in Jamie Glazov's book United in Hate: The Left's Romance with Tyranny and Terror (2009).
For those interested in exploring Jewish animal ethics, theology, and diet further (including applications of the principle of tza'ar ba'alei hayyim and pro-animal interpretations of kashrut), see Roberta Kalechofsky's book Judaism and Animal Rights, Shmuly Yanklowitz's Kashrut and Jewish Food Ethics, and Dan Cohn-Sherbok's After Noah. See also the Israeli website Let Animals Live.
One more note on this topic: Roberta Kalechofsky's book Animal Suffering and the Holocaust: The Problem with Comparisons (2003) was a direct response to the controversial use of the Holocaust analogy in animal rights rhetoric. She maintained that one could—and should—protect animals without using offensive historical analogies that she believed diminished the specific history of Jewish suffering. Animal suffering is a moral crisis, she argues, that stands on its own merits and does not need to be validated by comparing it with human genocide.
As for Ben & Jerry's activist board, they provide a case study for why one should not claim to be morally superior when that claim cannot be backed up with facts, with respect to their position on both Israel and animals.
He was a featured guest on Tucker Qatarlson show last year where they bonded on Israeli hate. Mr Progressive "Jew" Bernie bro obsessively hates the Jewish state so much he would go a pro Trump right winger, racist, anti immigration, antisemite's podcast.
Being born Jewish is chance; standing with the Jewish people is a choice. To ignore Jewish life, never support Israel, do nothing for the Jewish community, and then invoke that identity only to attack the one refuge Jews built after six million were slaughtered is not principle — it’s betrayal.” If I ever see him on the street....
I stopped buying their ice cream long ago. Haagen Dazs is just as good. These ignoramuses seem to think watermelon is trademarked by "Palestinians." It isn't. Watermelon grows in Indian desert regions and is widely consumed in India and in other countries. Also, he's fine selling in countries that execute people for being homosexual. Israel is the only country in the middle east where homosexuals can live openly. Of course, this doesn't matter to him.
Nobody forced Ben Cohen to sell the ice cream company he founded to Unilever. He went after the money, gave up control in order achieve wealth, which was clearly more important to him than his principles.

Same. I haven’t bought any of their ice cream in years.
Come to Israel and buy Ben & Jerry's here. Money doesn't go to them.

When a brand or company goes woke let it go broke .Ben & Jerry has not been in our house for years

The people who started Haagen Dazs were Jews.
I believe they had an early store on Southern Blvd or nearby, in the Bronx.
HD has a higher butterfat content than B&J’s.
Makes it smoother and creamier.
I looked up Jewish ice cream after I quit eating Ben and Jerry's and it said Haagen Dazs. Great stuff.

Yes I know this, the same with Baskin-Robbins. https://www.myjewishlearning.com/the-nosher/the-jewish-history-of-americas-most-famous-ice-cream/

Some of these "settlements" are cities larger than many American small cities.

One cannot overestimate the ignorance of Cohen. There is nothing he has said about this issue, over a number of years, that resonates with truth.

So disappointed in Ben. He will never win love or approval from those who hate Israel.
I think hes a true believer. He's not looking for love from Jew haters. He hates them himself because he is a good leftist.

Ben Cohen is an absolutely disgrace to our community as well as his ancestors
What a disgrace. He should hang his head in shame.
