Before the massacre, you know when I knew that Iran controls the UN? When IRAN WAS NAMED THE CHAIR OF THE HUMAN RIGHTS COMMITTEE OF THE UN. I couldn't believe it at the time. Iran? Chair of the Human Rights Committee? Yep.

Why were they named chair of the Human Rights committee? How do you explain the lack of condemnation or sanctions against them (and oh sooooo many against Israel)?

The United Nations Security Council has adopted six resolutions since 2006 requiring Iran to stop enriching uranium. Six. From 2015 through 2023, the UN General Assembly has adopted 154 resolutions against Israel and 71 against other countries. And I think 17 MORE just the past year. Hard to keep up with all of them. Sanctions against Israel total more than ALL THE OTHER COUNTRIES combined.

Iran killed a million of their own people for protesting the regime. No sanctions. They beat women not wearing head scarves properly. And much more. The UN is totally corrupted and will be exposed in the very near future by the new administration in the US. Did you know their schools--run by the UN--in Gaza, teach Jew hatred. And you have resorted to insults because that's what people like you do when you have no correct arguments or facts. I will not be responding to you anymore, so go right ahead and keep insulting and being ignorant of the facts.

The UN can’t be reformed, it has failed worse than the League of Nations before it. The US should pull out of it and encourage other like minded nations to do likewise. If and when that happens the UN will have lost its legitimacy and then the US can build something better, an alliance of nations with shared values whose only purpose is to promote peace.

It is imperative that the Trump administration take serious steps to reform or otherwise end the entire operation of the UN. It has become overtly hostile to American interests and the Democrats embrace it. Its not enough to condemn it's actions as others have including Niki Haley in the first Trump administration. Real and serious change has to come.

Thank you, Josh. Another point to emphasize is that by constantly campaigning for a Palestinian 'right to return' and delegitimizing Israel, the UN, UNRWA, and their peers radicalize Palestinian society and make peace and compromise even more difficult.

The United States needs to pull out of the United Nations and then create a more functional, less antisymmetric version. We must destroy the UN to save it. There is simply too much deeply entrenched corruption to be able to reform it in place. Same with the Red Cross and many other NGOs. I'm his parting address, President Biden should have been warning the United States about the NGO-industrial complex that perpetuates and furthers Antisemitism around the world.

That captures the essence perfectly. It likely reflects a somewhat romanticized and idealized perception of the UN and its sprawling institutions as the world's cultural and moral custodians—a view pervasive in much of the Western public. This outlook endures, buoyed by hazy recollections of Blue Helmets facilitating Namibia's independence plan, the designation of World Cultural Heritage sites, crisis interventions in Haiti, and other such emblematic, if selectively remembered, achievements.

Bring any of your points up with the average European, and you'll likely be dismissed as deranged. Hardly anyone understands UNRWA's mandate, let alone the specific 'refugees' it's meant to serve. Instead, there's a self-deceptive, self-satisfying belief that it's merely a kind of Middle Eastern offshoot of the WFP.

What's truly troubling and profoundly shameful is the indifference of policymakers, who should know better. With a smug sense of self-righteousness, they delude themselves and the public, adopting a head-in-the-sand approach and offering fig leaves like the 'independent' Colonna report—essentially saying, 'yes, neutrality has its issues, but it's not as dire as it seems,' and thus, it's business as usual, with a token reform here and there. They should be ashamed of themselves.

The UN Secretary-General should be arrested and charged with attacking our national sovereignty in a felony conspiracy with NGOs and the Biden Administration. If the UN does not cooperate, throw them out of the United Statss and seize UN property in NYC and elsewhere in the USA. He should receive a life sentence for his meddling and be grateful that we do not send in a SEAL team to kill him.

It is no surprise that the UN is acting, the institution is a rotten place, the surprise is that the Jews got their home, even though more people opposed it than supported it. Thanks to those few countries that did not understand what they were voting for, and followed what the then Soviet Union voted for. Without this damage, there would be no Israel.

It makes me ILL to witness in my/our country, the United States, the Cancer of Islamism

- -Terrorism has become casual, mundane, acceptible, as well as tantamount to Jew-hatred & the annihilation of both Israel & Jews Worldwide. That the United Nations, based in the United States of America, & located on American Soil is being infiltrated with alarming metasticis by those complicit in Anti-Israel/Anti-Jewish Terrorism. When one thinks of the United Nation's founding hope of bringing nations together, & "UNITING" to combat hate & devisive forces, this has become a horrible contradiction. Like our people being held hostage, we are despairingly far down in a dark tunnel. Who is crying with me; What can we do to emerge & restore safety?

A FINE essay! "The agency was established in 1949 after the Israeli War of Independence, in order to provide shelter, welfare, and health services for hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refugees." Who at that time, 1949 or so referred to that group of people as 'palestinian' refugees? And who didn't use such a term? IF there were such people who did not use such a term, why didn't they? I'm fine with the term "Arab-Israelis" "Muslim-Israelis" "Xtian Israelis" "Druze-Israelis". I am not convinced or not supportive of the 'P' word used without some qualifying linked statement of clarifying the term. That may be a seemingly endless process but it may be seen as appropriate under the current decades long 'situation'?
