The outgoing U.S. secretary of state's plan is less a roadmap to peace and more a patchwork of impractical ideas that fail to account for the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Thank you. It is likely that Blinken is delusional and/or psychopathic. Judea & Samaria. From Sept 27, 2024: "Approximately two weeks ago, the head of the Samaria Regional Council Yossi Dagan visited the US, where he connected with a joint effort with lawmakers for the benefit of the settlements. Among other resolutions, it was decided to change the official name of the Judea and Samaria region, so that it would be referred to in official U.S. documents as "Judea and Samaria" rather than "the West Bank." ". The podcast The Israel Guys have for several years refused to call the region anything other than what it is: Judea & Samaria.
How many times must Hamas say 'We will kill all the Jews of Israel' before they are believed? People like Blinken are not in the real world. 'Two State Solution' is a mirage, a delusion of peace. Hamas and their Alliance with The Re-formed Nazi Party have been fully monitored here in London in 2013 and 2014. Our reports of this are with the Authorities and have been fully verified.
Listen to Amir Avivi (IDSF) and Gadi Taub (Israel Update) and you'll feel better. They are both on the right at this point and militant about protecting Israel but also say that these agreements are fluid and to have faith in Trump and Bibi. I hope they're right.
Thank you for this thoughtful and demoralizing analysis. Why do we Americans think we understand everything about these complex situations, and why are we so prone to underestimating the putative underdog?
Excellent essay, but I fear Trump's team might do more of the same. I've read that, behind the scenes, Trump is conveying to Netanyahu to accept the Blinken/Biden untenable scheme in order to facilitate a face saving "resolution" that makes both Trump and Biden look good. Biden would look good by taking credit for some hostages being released prior to January 20th, and Trump would look good because it would appear his emergence as president is leading to some positive action on hostage release. Does Israel lose by agreeing to a relatively bad deal over no deal? This essay would lead one to say yes, Israel loses in the long run.
Joshua, once again a well written article. I think most of us would agree there is no good solution for Gaza. The ONLY goal should be to prevent Hamas from rearming. Send the gazans food, water, electricity. Let Hamas run Gaza. That's it. when the people of Gaza finally become fed up and demand change, then a better solution can possibly emerge. Until the demand comes from the people, nothing positive will occur. If the people in Gaza suffer, let it happen. sometimes there has to be enough suffering before the desire for change emerges
One can only marvel at Blinken. Is he stupid? Insane? Evil? Mentally disabled? Who can say. Perhaps someday a book will be written. For now we can be glad that he will shortly be replaced by Marco Rubio.
On the whole an excellent article. Another motive for Blinken's posturing might be that he is playing Realpolitik fast and furious. In this instance by publicly articulating the Biden vision of a roadmap forIsrael, Gaza, and Judea and Samaria , he is trying to create political realities the incoming administration might feel bound to adopt in whole or in part.

Blinken misunderstood, mismanaged and worsened the present situation in Gaza. It’s no surprise that Blinken would do so in the future.
The best thing that can be said about Blinken is that he’s “an academic.” The worst? Unmentionable. A very unimpressive individual.

The sooner he's gone, the better.

The rooster standing on the top of the dung pile always seems to crow the loudest.

Yes, I fear that Trump will want to make it look as if he "solved" everything when he's only handing Israel a bigger mess.
No one is paying attention to anyone in the Biden administration anymore. Five more days.
Excellent. Thank you.

Blinken is a devotee of the John Lennon School of Imaginary Foreign Policy
Great line!

arrogance and stupidity are a really toxic mix.
Who is Blinken?
Marco Rubio is the Secretary of State come Monday

Excellent article. Joshua, again you tell it like it is- no sugar coating.

It has been all for nothing, all for nothing. No victory. No justice. No peace.
