I chose to move to Israel without ever setting foot in it because I believe, deep in my soul, we are fighting for a future that felt out of reach anywhere else.
You did the right thing, moving there. My husband and I are coming as soon as we can; we have almost all the papers together. I feel the pull. He's not Jewish but he wants to be with me. We'll see how it goes. We're old for such an adventure, but I am very much looking forward to the adventure.
I'll be looking forward to your missives, as I too will be an *olah hadashah* and a lot of what you're going through, I will go through too.
I’m 64 and money is tight. However, there are towns that aren’t as expensive if you look. We’re not selling the place in the US at first just in case though…
Thank you for sharing this story with us. Your courage is amazing and, given the direction the US seems to be slouching in (Cough, Mamdani, ahem…) I think you and your husband made a wise choice. I also suspect that a similar course of action is on the minds of many other people in the world these days. Behatzlacha
Wonderful essay.....it's utterly brave and remarkable your making Aliyah in time of war......I would like to wish you and your husband the best with your treatment.......With the global Antisemitism we all should make Aliyah !!!!!!!!.......!
brucha habaa... Israel is an experience unlike any other... 1973 was my first war as an olah hadasha... I'd like to say they get easier... but there has never been anything like the Iranian barrages you have endured...
I want to wish you success with your IVF treatments... I underwent a few years of that emotional rollercoaster and can only pray that you will be blessed with a babe of your own... as I was 25 years ago...
Yes, Wishing you great success with the IVF. Just was reminded of the Orphans created by October 7th, Either way, you will be parents. Excellent health & love to you both.

It’s something I’d love to do… but age(70), health(poor) and finance(not a lot) are barriers. Still, I can think about it…

Keep on writing and inspiring us who are clearly facing an anti Semitic onslaught

Reading this made me cry. You are a good writer.
Thankyou for sharing this… and please give Golda and Moshe a treat from me.
Hallelujah!
I would also change myself if it were possible, but I don't think love alone is enough for the nation.
May the Almighty יהוה bless the nation and Jerusalem.
However, I am waiting for the kingdom of יהוה promised in the scriptures, where the righteous can live safely without fear and war.
