I appreciate and confirm every word you write; I have been telling the same to many people many times before, and I can´t comprehend why all of this isn´t widely known and in full awareness ? How can it be that "left"ist, Marxist, socialist ideas get so positively acclaimed and are seen as "good" and "human" when it never nowhere has turned out as anything but evil, when it provides only poverty, oppression, anti-freedom, persecution ? People seem rather wanting to believe in fairy-tales of "equality" instead of trying to cope with reality, they fall for false promises instead.

In Germany only some 30 years ago the "Socialist paradise" from which most of its inhabitants fled away as soon as possible, fell apart, and now the allegedly "responsible" citizens that were granted freedom, elect "Far Right" and "Far Left" in their "majority", "because" their fairy tales didn´t come true again. You could understand them if they were toddlers in their defiant age. Obviously, the "majority" of the "Crown of Creation" never gets past that.

It's the education system. For decades now, it has leaned anti-Western values and pro-Marxist. We are seeing the results of that now.

The problem isn´t only with Marxists/”socialists”, but just the same or in many places even more with their self-named “enemies”, the “(far)Right” who are not only just as authoritarian, anti-libertarian and totalitarian as “Leftists”, but rather even more, and they are more successful in elections than the “Leftist”s. And they are mostly just as anti-semitic and hating Jews and Israel. They claim to be “critical of Islam”, but in their authoritarian appearance and convictions they don´t differ much from “right-believing” Islam. Often these “Far Right” claim to be “rescuing” and “defending” ‘Western Values’, but really they are destroying it just as Islam and “Leftist”s do. - “Western Values” can only encompass the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment, the resolution of conflicts with the goal of recognizing what is as right as possible and, after critical examination, the best possible course of action, and fighting for it, even if it is "uncomfortable."

Yet precisely these truly democratic virtues have been completely neglected, in favor of convenience, arbitrariness, and the inability to truly resolve conflicts.

It was pretended that one could simply rely on the fact that some "majority" would "choose the right thing."

But when the skills to recognize what's right aren't learned, if the resolution of conflicts and the expression of "uncomfortable" statements are dismissed as "too controversial" and get declared "hate speech," the result is that “populists” are "elected" with simple, convenient "truths" that also surprisingly happen to have scapegoats at hand ("the rich," "the migrants," the "capitalist global conspiracy of elites," and, surprisingly and completely new, "the Jews" etc.). THAT is "history repeating." What's so hard to recognize about that?

We are a group of monitors in the UK who have been working to bring attention to the Neo-Nazi resurgence in The State. We are aware of plans by these Nazis to kill 3 Billion people by starvation, by eliminating petrol and aid supplies to the Developing World. This is a Global Plan for Global Genocide by the Neo-Nazis. The Communists never planned anything so grotesque. But the Neo-Nazis are. Hitler had he succeeded would have done the same, and now his foot soldiers are planning this. This is now monitored and recorded. This is why Communism, however horrible, is nowhere near as bad as Nazism and the current Neo-nazism which Hitler and Goebbels planned for after the defeat of Nazi Germany, when Goebbels said, ‘Our Grandchildren will finish the job.’ These are Goebbels’s own words.

The Nazis wanted to go back in history to start over. A. B. Yehoshua captured that impulse beautifully in his novel Mr. Mani. The Communists wanted to go forward, often in great leaps, to remake man. This made the artists more comfortable with communism - futurism, surrealism, etc. And this still operates, so the leftists who think they would never hurt a fly can play at crusades oriented toward the future. It makes them feel good, at home, cool, on the right side of history. But totalitarianism is totalitarianism, left or right, categories which are incidentally completely useless for understanding what modern society was all about. I write was because today it is collapsing under its own ignorance and cognitive blindness. Nothing left to save, I am afraid. Better to move to Israel.

This was a phenomenal and important article by Erica Smith! This is the first article of her’s I’ve read and I am most impressed. This is a point I’ve long been thinking about. Nazism AND Communism should have equally terrible reputations. Communists persecuted Jews just as much as Nazis did just in a more covert way. We only teach about overt antisemitism in schools. But the more subtle forms of antisemitism are unfamiliar to most people. That needs to change! We also need to teach our children about the great evils of Communism and how Communist regimes persecuted Jews, just based on class rather than race as the Nazis did. People forget that Russia is one of the most antisemitic countries on Earth and that didn’t suddenly disappear when Lenin and the Bolsheviks came to power.

The examples Erica gave of Soviet antisemitism were excellent. I would also add the Kremlin not allowing Soviet Jews to emigrate to Israel and the plight of the Refuseniks in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. The USSR also despised Israel and armed its enemies. For example, during the 1973 Yom Kippur War the Soviets threatened they’d intervene to assist Syria against Israel. The Jewish victims of Communism deserve just as much attention as the victims of the Holocaust do. There were pogroms in Iron Curtain countries against Jews after the Six Day War for instance.

There should be a memorial for them. It’s also so sad to me Communist officials in Eastern and Central Europe were never held responsible for their horrendous crimes. We need to stop romanticizing Communism in our society especially higher education. We need to stop acting like whether Communism is good or bad or not is even a debate or that it’s “complicated.” It’s not. Communism is just evil period and has murdered hundreds of millions of people. Historically Marxism was just as antisemitic as Nazism was. Karl Marx let’s not forget was a huge antisemite as well as racist, sexist and homophobe. Marx and Frederich Engels were just bad people period. The ideology they created is VERY flawed and could only work in a perfect world. Not to mention it scapegoats Jews who tend to very successful and among the upper classes of western society. This let us be clear is due to their religion’s emphasis on being literate NOT some bogus conspiracy theory!

Communism is an evil and malignant ideology that has spread death, poverty and misery all around the globe anywhere it’s been tried. Here are some resources for anyone here for them and their family and friends to learn more about Soviet antisemitism and the horrors of Communism:

• In the Unlikeliest of Places: How Nachman Libeskind survived Nazis, Gulags, and Soviet Communism by Annette Libeskind Berkovits

Mr Otte, you write ‘Nazism and Communism should have equally terrible reputations’. Well, no, Mr Otte. In this respect, Only Nazism plans Global Genocide today, amongst Nazism’s adherents. All monitored, I am afraid.

In Vietnam there was an expression about the demise of communists which was "Sat Cong" and nothing has changed about what should be done with communism and its adherents. I was later stationed in then-West Germany in the early '70's and went on a border tour courtesy of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, the Blackhorse, and saw the thousand meter death strip with the minefields, plowed dirt, dog runs, and all the rest. The border site I went to was guarded by 2 communist machine gunners in a huge concrete tower. If anyone tries to tell me of the wonders of communism I tell them that. Part of the problem is those of us who were military and remember communism are getting older and leaving the scene.

Communism is Western liberalism's younger, crazier, more violent sibling, and liberals always excuse it because Communists claim to have good intentions, that they were "trying to make the world a better place" or some such cliche.

Liberals and Communists are like people in 2 separate cars headed to the same place with the same map, except liberals follow the rules of the road and stop for pedestrians whereas Communists will run down whoever is in their way. But the destination is the same: some sort of universal socialist govt run along the principles of egalitarian humanitarianism, a utopian vision where all borders are erased and all differences flattened.

And this leads to the real reason liberals (as in members of the Western liberal classes, as processed through our educational system) never oppose or denigrate Communism: both systems posit as their end state a vanguard Controller class that will dictate to the proles what they should be allowed to say, think, do and who to vote for, and both Communists and educated gentry liberals ardently believe that they will be the ones doing the controlling, that they are born philosopher-kings, if only the rest of us were smart enough to hand them total power.

No class of people are going to oppose a utopian crusade that promises to end with them on top, which also explains why so many 20th-century intellectuals pimped for Communism: those countries might have been police states, but they took intellectuals seriously and gave them power to inflict their utopian schemes, which could never fail but only be failed.

Communism is the unkillable fantasy of the West's adversary intellectuals and other lost souls, and Jews always end up as one of their main targets, because Jews remain stubbornly alive and particular.
