This. 1000%. What else does the press lie about? I know about Israel but what else do they say that is truly bullshit?

I highly recommend anything written by Norman Podhoretz who walked away from the left in the prime of his career and who was one of the principally founders of the neoconservative movement as well strengthening your commitment to Jewish tradition and values by becoming literate in the classical Jewish sources

You have totally written about me! I am also a Jew who grew up in England with the same heritage and background. My political evolution evolved exactly as yours, even to realizing world politics are as George Orwell described them. Our only difference is that I have spent my adult life in the US and was a reader of Norman Podhoretz whom one of your commentators mentioned. I cannot believe the ignorance and naivety of the majority of American Jews. I was never able to believe I was English because of the antisemitism I grew up with in England. I also don’t see myself as an American despite my 50 years of residence here. I have to acknowledge I am first and foremost a Jew. Throughout history our persecution and rejection has shaped my identity and the rise of antisemitism today reminds me of the 1930s in Europe. Even in America the antisemites and Muslims are taking over. Last night my husband told me how a group of young men at a local pub were talking about how the Jews controlled the world!

I am curious to know how the majority of English Jews feel about what is happening politically in England. Do they understand what is going on around them? Are they concerned? Or are they like the majority of American Jews (as were those in Germany before the holocaust) believing it can’t happen here!

I’m also curious about how they think of Trump. Despite his many faults he now appears to be the only world leader who supports Israel and yet the majority of American Jews don’t support him.

Palestininism has exposed the rotten core, the lie, that is progressivism. The silver lining is that the enemies of Western civilization have shown their cards too early. The West will begin a massive uprooting of terrorist and radicalist organizations and financing. Should the West have the courage, stamina, and faith in it's institutions, things will be righted. For now

You are a critical thinker. This seems to be lacking these days especially with Gen Z.

Love Scrutons definition of conservatism.

This wonderful essay really resonates with me, though I'm an American. Many among the self-identified "Independent" voters in America are probably former Democrats who also share your gradual disillusionment with the reality of left wing governing. It is horrific that "1984" is being used by governing elites as an instruction manual for the "red-green alliance".

Your suspicion that the West has already fallen stuns me. I had only recently begun to suspect that implementation of the Islamic agenda might have advanced to a point where Trump could only negotiate with the Sunni nations as feebly as he has.

I strongly recommend reading ‘A conflict of visions’ by Thomas Sowell. He provides a compelling explanation for the perpetual battle in politics between people who are trying to do good but have different solutions because they make different assumptions about human nature and our institutions and traditions.

One group think humans are perfect but institutions are bad. These other group thinks humans are flawed but our institutions help us cope with these flaws.

The first group thinks elites should control society because they have high moral values and more insight.

The other think all humans should control society and we should respect the instititions and traditions we inherit because they have embodied knowledge.

The latter acknowledges that social evolution has shaped our institutions and traditions in ways difficult to comprehend.

I have a signed copy of that book by Sowell.

Get used to the fact that we are all Tribal and Racist when our personal space is threatened. And we are NOT tribal or Racist when we are SECURE in our own space. This simple rule holds true across the whole of Humanity whatever the tribe or race being discussed. So, the Political Ideology we now choose must accept this as fact. ‘Liberal until threatened’ pretty much covers this. So start here.

Not quite sure about that. I've turned against my own [insert any cultural / political / ethnic* etc. niche] any given time i found their mentality / behaviours unconscionable, sod security.

In fact i've never been concerned with security or safety, never known security; having been born in the Eastern Bloc in the thick of state communism & robbed of any notion of future, 'security' hasn't even featured as an item on the event horizon. In a way it's liberating i guess, not that i ever asked for it.

I've been radically anti-left, antimarxist since the age of 7 or so (when i first encountered socialist brainwashing in primary school). That's a headstart we easternblockers have over our Western counterparts who had to figure out these things later in life on their own accord; again, not something we asked for.

I sometimes wonder if i would trade it all in for a "comfortable life" but i know too well that i would end up deeply uncomfortable with that trade, so what's the point.

(* for the record i'm not Jewish. Irreligious Roman Catholic Zionist.)

The paradox which can’t be avoided is this: we know all States are SHIT at the top. But how else to secure Borders and Standard of Living? Ludovico, would appreciate your thoughts about this. Best wishes.

Ludovica's avatar

Try to elect the lesser shit, if there's a choice. Politics / elections are usually a choice between the bad and the lesser bad, as the top is inevitably shit (even those who start out as decent tend to be dragged into the dunny by the spoon, so to speak. Orbán is a good example.). So the nuance between the bad and the less bad can mean a world of difference, i think.

Dan's avatar

Indeed! Thanks for this. Thank goodness for Democracy! The psychos at the extremes have learned to pass amongst us, to positions of great power, using the secret services: All documented by us here in London. We continue. Best wishes, Ludovica.

I was attacked by The Nazis in the Far Right State Elements here in The UK, Ludovico. This started when I was two years old during a fake Doctor appointment. Nazi Elements in MI6 were waiting for me and they separated me from my father and then juiced my head with a Cattle Gun. So I know about Nazism in The State.

Ludovica's avatar

Very sorry to hear that, Dan. I had nothing even remotely close to that horrible.

I regard nazism & internazism as one & the same: collectivist dogma systems of envy, aka 'socialism'.

Sam Hilt's avatar

Daniel, thanks for your honest admission of your confusion in present circumstances. That's definitely the place to begin. I've come to the conclusion that much of the confusion has been deliberately engineered, and very skillfully so. It's part of what has made it so hard to formulate an effective response.

The core of the confusion, imho, is that the human rights movement has been thoroughly infiltrated, co-opted and redirected by bad actors who don't wish us well. The language of human rights is what we see on all the placards at the demonstrations that are, in fact, encouraging the most retrograde movements on the planet. The hijacking of the human rights movement has been the Palestinians' greatest achievement in their war to destroy the Jews.

In reality what you call "conservative" is actually liberal. And what is known as "liberal" is actually radical. The principle difference between the liberal whose ideological roots are in the Enlightenment and the Socialist whose roots are in Marx is simple. Socialists are at heart utopians who believe in the perfectibility of humanity. Liberals are realists who understand human nature and limitations. The American Constitution is the ultimate manifestation of liberal realism. As Madison put it "If men were angels no government would be necessary." The Framers recognized that neither the people nor the rulers were anything other than humans who act in self interest. The modern socialists dont recognize this at all. Naturally this radicalism, which has seeped into the mainstream of Western politics, places ideological truths ahead of actual truth. Thus we see stories not reported or false lies believed. Nations which stand for freedom and decency like Israel and the United States are hated by these radicals because they prove the falseness of their narrative. Unfortunately you are a much freer thinker than most of your generation which has been easily brainwashed.

The UK France Spain Belgium Australia Canada Portugal Sweden Finland Norway are all Muslim countries so please stop this right left conservative liberal bullshit. .you have been conquered by my Muslims

This is a world wide Muslim religious war....and the US has already been invaded...

So what will you die for is the only question remaining

Upstream's avatar

You may be right, Bernie, and your question is of paramount importance. Are the principles of due process and the rule of law, which have made the West flourish, even relevant in the present situation? Or are our circumstances really dire now. Americans should look over at Britain, where the invasion is more advanced and defeat of the native population and culture seems a foregone conclusion. Then ask, what needs to be done in America so that we don't reach that stage? I know I'm really struggling with this one.

There is nothing to struggle with....they have bought American universities...the BDS movement are Muslim military and cells. Muslims have killed over 2.5 million blacks and ...are killing Christians every day all over the planet...it's simple...as long as I'm you in are scared they will blow up your supermarkets. Your pizza parlors your discos and your buses...they will keep on with the invasion

So again what will you die for?

Blacks will not die for blacks... Christians will not die for Christians...so they all blame the Jews....but Jews will die for blacks Ethiopian Jews

You are correct: it is quite disturbing to see how the Trump administration's big brou-ha-ha over campus antisemitism has resulted in toothless settlements. The sources of antisemitic K-12 curricula, propaganda, and vitriol (foreign funded Middle East Studies departments and endowed chairs) are left in place. Meanwhile, Trump tried to move Elyse Stephanic, whose hearings first shed light on the problem, out of Congress into the useless U.N. Now, she's dropping out of a gubernatorial campaign and public life, which I wonder about.

One thing we should all be doing is writing our Senators and Congress-people to get foreign donations (Qatari, Arabian, Chinese) out of public schools and institutions of higher education. Laws will last longer than one presidential term.

🙌🙌🙌 A brilliant and well-written piece, Daniel that is sadly all too true!

Alaethia's avatar

I was interested in some of his arguments until he got to the part about "chicanery"" "lawfare" being employed to prevent Trump from being elected, when in fact (as Jack Smith's congressional committee testimony has yet again underscored), it was Trump and his cronies who mounted an unlawful, multi front campaign to try to steal the 2020 election. This included the only violent attack on the US Capitol by American citizens since the country's founding.

Sandra Klein's avatar

So say all the ignorant brain washed democrats. Trump got the popular vote despite everything the Democrats did to deride him and throw away mailed in ballots. Moreover the January 6 protests were advertised on the internet for months ahead. Thousands of people marched for hours. How come security measures weren’t put in place months ahead or even in the hours during the march on the capitol. This lack of protection was deliberate propaganda against Trump. There was no violence even at the capital. The only person killed was one woman by the few guards hanging around and a policeman who died of a heart attack. The Democrats had months of warning of this March. Why wasn’t the capitol protected by the police and national guard in advance. Why weren’t the marchers disbursed before they arrived at the capitol? This was all political machinations!

Unfortunately, wide experience has shown that it's not possible to have a constructive debate with those whose beliefs, and emotional need to believe, are so strong that they are not capable of the logical analysis that differentiates fact from fantasy.

Everything you wrote is factually distorted or false. Biden won the popular vote in 2020 by more than 7 million votes. 61 of 62 lawsuits were either dismissed or found this to be the case, while only one sided with Trump on a narrow procedural basis but n also did not find that Trump won the popular vote. Many of these cases were decided by conservative, Republican judges and even the heavily conservatives Supreme Court refused to take up the matter.

As Senator Daniel Patrick Moynahan said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts.

I think many on the Democrat side fit that bill from my personal experience. It has proved impossible to have a rational, sensible debate with them. I am not American by the way.

Alaethia's avatar

There are plenty of people of every political stripe who argue out of emotion and belief, rather than fact, truth-seeking and rational analysis. This tendency is also the root of extremism and mob mentality, and it's scary. It's just a few steps from that to lynchings, pogroms and other atrocities.

By virtue of its anonymity and reach, the internet makes it dangerously easy for people to behave like infants and/or thugs, indulging in name-calling, threatening language and general indecency that at least some wouldn't dare do in person.

"it was Trump and his cronies who mounted an unlawful, multi front campaign to try to steal the 1920 election."

Trump was born June 14, 1946.

How could he steal the 1920 election??

You have a real problem with 1st grade arithmetic.

You are wrong by the way but world class ignorant as well.

Jack Smith is a liar and everyone in America knows that even the Democrats.

There was no violent attack on the capital but if there was violence it was by the hundreds of paid FBI agents who disrupted everything on orders from the corrupt FBI.

Alaethia's avatar

Thanks for alerting me to the typo. This is the first time I've experienced someone doing that in the style of a foaming-at-the-mouth rant, so thanks for the new experience as well. It's illuminating to me to see further evidence of some people's ability to construct their own realities, even when the actual reality has been televised live for hours by multiple outlets and can be seen even today with a click in a browser.

Peace be unto you. I will not respond to you further.

Nunya Biznez's avatar

Well done, Alaethia! The ignorant can't stand to respectfully read or hear others' views!

Alaethia's avatar

Thank you, Nunya. It's not so much the views that I have an issue with as it is the insistence of many people not just to have their own opinions, but also their own facts. Opinions are subjective and people are entitled to them, however ill informed they may be. Facts our facts and no one is entitled to "their own facts."

Sandra Klein's avatar

The whole way the US voting system is set up it is extremely difficult to get accurate counts particularly with gerrymandering, the electoral college, and the totally incompetent postal service, never mind computers that can be played with to give inaccurate counts. I notice you made no comments about my observations on the January 6 protests. However it is obvious you get your information from the NYT or some other liberal, antisemitic news organization.

Just remember, if you are Jewish, they will come for you too!

We're done here. It's neither enjoyable nor productive for me to discuss issues at this level. Go in peace.

Political wilderness. A place becoming increasingly crowded. Part of it is frankly that there's no " one size fits all, or even most" in this rapidly evolving developed world. Technology confounds everything, from knowledge to communication to social life to education to understanding to relationships, states, nations, religion, meaning.... Hard to find common ground for a minute, let alone a lifetime. Plan a future? Good luck. In such fracturing, perhaps all we can do is rally, rally around specific causes that can bind us despite forces pulling us apart. Zionism is one such cause and persists worldwide, crossing all lines. It contains within it all that matters: faith, fealty, fairness, community, identity, and above all, a belief that resilient defense of these values will result in a better world. I am a proud Judeo-Christian Zionist. We need a reassuring cry and a collective, visible symbol that will inform the world of our numbers, our determination and our intent to rid the world of deliberate hatred and unacceptable violence.

One of the best, most insightful articles I read in a long time. The sentence

“ As for moral progress…..I no longer believe that we have come far at all since ancient times” spells all that we experience today. Humans are both un-evolved, and consequently, de-evolving, to recover a comfortable primitive point where they can continue slaughtering scapegoats- the Jews- as ancestral sacrifices to exorcise the guilt they can’t deal with, the guilt imposed by civilization, and introduced by Israel.
