To be pro-Israel is to affirm belief in moral clarity, civilizational inheritance, and national sovereignty — all core components of what makes the West great.
I've written before and again I have to say, I find Mr Burmawi impressive. His integrity as a Christian and ex-Muslim to support the presence of Torah (not only the vague term Judaism) in This World is uncommon. Not to minimize other strong and courageous people. Mr Burmawi demonstrates a deep understanding of Torah substance and tradition. He had to work hard to reach his level of understanding and to be aware of the forces standing in the way of that hard work and the courage speak.
Excellent piece. But about this part: "Abandoning Israel is not just a betrayal of an ally; it is a surrender to the logic of the modern Left. And that surrender will not stop at the borders of Judea and Samaria; it will march straight into the homes, schools, places of worship, and courts of America." It has already--and increasingly--been marching into homes, schools, places of worship and courts.
This separation between political movements on the right and defense of Israel in a material manner (supplying material for military forces as well as civilian use) is precisely what we’re seeing in France, UK, Canada, Ireland, etc. And we can see what is happening to these countries as Muslims muscle in and take over local government. This is a very important issue of worldwide consequences!
This is an important and insightful essay. Many do not realise the full extent of what is at stake both materially and morally. It is very easy to crash things downwards and to destroy, it is far less easy and time consuming to build up what is good.
Thank you for a way to explain to others that republican and conservative does not simply mean “right wing” and whatever negative connotations it conjures up for people. It means exactly what you outlined: a defence of the west, family values and tradition. I am a proud conservative.
"For decades, Qatar has provided financial and political support, directly and indirectly, to virtually every anti-American Islamic terrorist organization,” noted Carmon.
This list includes the terror-based Muslim Brotherhood, Al-Qaeda and even organizations affiliated with ISIS, he claimed.
Senior Muslim cleric and Muslim Brotherhood leader Sheikh Yusef al-Qaradawi, a prominent Islamist known for his vicious anti-Semitism and justification of the Holocaust, has been operating for years from Qatar under its protection, said Carmon. “In addition, Qatar has provided shelter to several other jihadi leaders.”
For example, according to testimony in 2003 before a committee in the U.S. House of Representatives, the Qatar Charitable Society is linked to top levels of the Qatari government and played a significant role in funding jihadi groups, including Al-Qaeda, noted a MEMRI report. In addition, the “charity” organization was first named as funding Al-Qaeda during the trial proceedings of the 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
“If it weren’t for Qatar, the September 11 attacks might not have taken place,” he continued.
“In 1996, terrorist mastermind Khalid Sheikh Muhammad had been under Qatari protection in Doha. When the U.S. government notified the Qatari emir that they were coming to arrest KSM for his involvement in terrorist plots, KSM disappeared within hours, only to reappear in 2001 as the mastermind behind 9/11.”
"Most Americans have never even heard of Qatar, but do you know who most certainly has? The presidents of every college and university in the United States. That is because Qatar has poured billions of dollars into our education system, covertly financing an extensive influence operation in America. Qatar is a top supporter of terrorist groups like Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood, and al-Qaeda affiliates, among others. By funding think tanks, activist organizations, mosques — and now American universities and educational programs — the Qatari government can engage in political activities that benefit Qatar while inculcating virulent anti-Semitism that continues to spread throughout American society.
The bulk of all Middle Eastern donations come from Qatari donors, and one entity — Qatar Foundation — accounts for virtually all of the donations from Qatar. Qatari cash helped to incubate the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign on U.S. college campuses. These funds significantly impact university's course offerings, curricula, faculty decisions, campus attitudes, and oftentimes end up creating a hostile environment for Jewish students and anyone who opposes Qatar's radical political agenda.
Qatar is just one of the foreign governments hostile to the United States and to Israel, which have been pouring money into our universities in exchange for influence. It's time we pull back the curtain on these shady dealings. Visit clarionproject.org/covertcash to watch this important film that exposes the seedy underbelly of foreign influence on our education system."
Very well said. People don't understand that the Islamic world hasn't changed since the destruction of Yarmuk or the pilage of Constantinople. The forces that have given media and institutional cover to the anti-Jewish propoganda are coming for society broadly. The inorganic support for socialism that is now brewing is sponsored by the same media and the same people.
The West will have to act quickly or it will be an Islamic third-world disaster with widespread poverty and limited rights for minorities.
To posit that the turning of the tide away from Israel from the young and the progressives in the United States is because of an ideological hatred of the Constitution and all the United States stands for is an amazing proposition and completely and utterly ignores the behavior of the Israeli government and the IDF towards all of the Palestinian population.
I'm a progressive and I love my country and all it stands for -- the progressive values of caring for those less fortunate, putting legal constraints on capitalism to ensure the health and well-being of its citizens, freedom to practice any and all religions, freedom from oppression and false imprisonment. I hate what Israel is doing by the actions of its leaders to innocent people living in the Palestinian territories, just as I hate Victor Orban and Vladimir Putin. I hate Trump and all he does and stands for, as he singlehandedly is trying to end this democracy and form an authoritarian government as his masked minions remove anyone who looks like they did not come over on the Mayflower --- and I would be very upset to think that people throughout the world condemn the United States because of his actions and the actions of those under his thrall and/or under his control. Am I upset that many on the left see Israel as a colonizing country? Of course. Do I understand the wave of resentment towards Israel as its government carries out the deaths of thousands which from where I sit indeed appears to be genocidal in result if not intent. And I do believe it to be intent.
That is not to say that too many well-meaning and not well-meaning people confound Jews with the Israeli government or worse, condemn all Jews and all Israeli citizens because of the actions of the Netanyahu government. And don't start with 'what about Hamas?' ... Hamas is an evil, hateful organization whose members all deserve the death sentence. And ... Israel has lost not only its moral compass through the behavior of its current leader and the IDF but has also put me in danger as a Jew from those who blame me for the deaths of thousands, and the starvation of thousands more at its hands.
To frame the increase from those on the left and conservatives towards anti-Israeli sentiment as coming from some long-term plan by the left to gut the Constitution, as posited by this article, while ignoring the fact that the right stands aside and lets Trump do just that would be laughable were it not taken seriously, as evidenced by comments to this article.
You have fallen for Hamas propaganda. You know they are evil. Why do you believe their talking points? If Israel had wanted to harm civilians, they would have carpet bombed and war would have been over in a day. And how gullible are you to believe their talking points starving kids nonsense? If there were real starving kids, why does every picture of a so-called starving kid turn out to be a kid with a disease and well fed parents and siblings? Shouldn’t they have plenty of starving kids without diseases to photograph?? No, because they do not exist.
Unfortunate reply. It seems you have nothing in common with the core meaning of the article, and your Jeremiad contains a load of biases and conspiracy theories. One of those terminal " as a Jew..." self-serving tirades.
With your words you confirm to me what was written in Dan’s article.
The irony is that it seems you don’t see it, or don’t want to see it.
Of course the world is not black and white.
It takes courage in today’s world to see the main trends. Even more to go out and gather the info that contradicts what your family and friends believe and support.
Hate is a trend. I hate him and him, that should make you think.
Although I don’t think you will change your mind, just know that Israel and the Jews are the canary in the coal mine.
To borrow an expression: Oy!! This is so clear, and scary. Israel defenders know this; have always known that the support and survival of Israel is as much ours as theirs. And it's not looking good for either of us. In truth, Israel matters more -- the best world will survive without us, but not without Jews to carry a millennial history.
I only wish that the "conservative" movement would awaken to the very areas that make it not conservative: the environment, global climate change, and the undertones of racism that remain amongst many Republicans. I wholeheartedly agree on all the points in this essay other than the "conservative" part. We need a political party with hight moral clarity about Israel and the Middle East. We also need high clarity about the utter reality that we, as a civilization, are chopping on the branch we are sitting on. Without clean water, clean air, a stabilized climate, renewable energy, and, well, just common sense, we may support Israel, but there may not be a world where Israel and the Middle East can survive the coming climate apocalypse. 52 Celcius just a couple of days ago. And we are really just at the beginning of the full effects of climate change. What will happen when there is a heatwave of 55C, or 60C, that lasts for days or weeks. This is on the way if we don't do something about it.
I fully agree with this article. I am shocked the number of conservatives with an unfavorable view was so high. We need to support pro-Israel leaders like Donald Trump. My most recent article is about him and details his work against antisemitism and supporting Israel. https://posocap.com/p/why-ayn-rand-would-love-americas
"Those attacking Israel in the American context are not merely concerned about the policies of a foreign government; they are engaged in a much broader campaign: the delegitimization of Western civilization itself."
For a really chilling insight into what is taking place in America (and by extension across the Western World) listen in their own words: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBwnMZ8avCs for Muslim goals.

Too late. It already is infiltrating all segments of society. Witness the media reports about Israel, the curriculum that started with the universities and can now be found in high schools, middle schools, and even now is reaching into grade schools via Ethnic Studies programs.
Definition of "the “progressive” alliance": Red-Green Alliance, that is Marxist-Islamist agenda promoted by Critical Theory and Critical Race Theory.

I was just recommending him to my husband and my sister. He is phenomenal.
Never has so much been set with so few words. thank you.

If minorities will be allowed at all.
First they came for the Saturday people, then for the Sunday people.
