It's this 'liked' compulsion/obsession/mindset that is one problem, as you say. And maybe I'm being a pain by repeating that some things are appropriate online, in public forums, and some need to be discussed only among Jews who are open to seeing reality and not stuck in delusions.
I don't agree with '10x worse'. Not because the historically proven expectation of physical, financial, social, etc violence is not going to be proven true again. Rather it's needless hyperbole that, imo, takes away from what is going to happen.

I learned 5yrs ago. I think we all need to take classes and then train train train with non-lethal devices and techniques. In many States, appropriate self defense will still result in prison time. It's sick but it's reality. I took a class from a guy who has served in the armed services and been a cop for probably 40yrs. After taking a couple of classes from him, I don't want to carry. Maybe I could survive prison, maybe not, but I expect I'd be a sick mess afterwards. Some say it's preferable to being dead but I am not so sure - just speaking for myself. And at the same time, id like to take as many of the attackers with me and make it ugly. So, keep learning situational awareness, stay out of bad neighborhoods. Most of all, though, if you're going to carry, know that you will go 100%, will not hesitate, and train tactically. Target practice is 10%. You have draw instinctively, have a round in the chamber, breath, and be prepared mentally from the moment you strap on.

Growing up in the Deep South of the US and ghettoized I was always the little
Jewish kid in school. Then it finally happened, I was physically attacked in school. The idiot didn’t know that I boxed and wrestled and had my forebearers on my shoulder. The skirmish ended when it took three to pull me off of this guy and that is what it took to get them all off me.
But that is not enough today when the state of Israel has now done the same thing. It has left the rest of the nation of Jews in danger. There is something hollow about this discussion which must be discussed with our need to defend ourselves.

I don’t know where you are from but here in the US 75% of the hate crimes are now against Jews which has doubled. I have been threatened by liberal organizations that I have worked with for years. My family feels in danger as do I. As Mr Hoffman’s essay said, Jews are become gun owners. All of this in the past two years.
And yes I thought I was a progressive until all of this has happened.

But still not one massive effort has been made, sponsored by wealthy Jews, to attack the waves of social media with a digital unmasking campaign of the propaganda against us, by now so deranged and effective as Goebbels' . We need designers, market gurus, data, bots, and tech. We must repeat our truths as mantras so many times until they are believed.
We are not Quatar, and we can't dream of our own Al-Jazeera, but wealthy Jews can afford a digital campaign. It might not even be that expensive, and there are already some initiatives. Algorithm is king.
