Avi Yemini of Rebel News was reporting a story at the frontlines of Israel’s war with Hamas, when he was interrupted by a group of soldiers who told him he needed to go to a nearby restaurant and give them credit on camera.
Burgus Burger Bar in Kiryat Gat in southern Israel refused to take payment for an order for an entire platoon.
The platoon had put in a big order to raise the soldiers morale and reward their hard work defending Israel. When they went to pay, the restaurant owner refused to take even a shekel.
The soldier who received this gift explains to Avi that there are a lot of special people in Israel coming together to support the country. Regardless of the division that has rift Israel this year over the protests against judicial reforms, when there’s a threat to Israel’s existence, ‘people realise what’s really important: restoring peace and defending our country.’
As one Israeli woman puts it, ‘We’re always united when something happens, and we’re also united in our hearts, even when we have arguments. It’s like a married couple.’
Watch this video to witness the kindness uniting Israelis together during these difficult times:
