Tiny minorities have effectively forced Israel into a horrible hostage deal, and we must not allow this to keep happening if the Jewish state will win its war against Hamas.
From the moment I saw "Bring Them Back" as the Jewish/Israeli rallying cry in this war I knew the so-called progressives among us (along with Jew-haters having influence on US policy) would force Israel's "unity" government into appeasement. The Jewish March in Washington confirmed my fears when Chuck Schumer, that disgraceful, self-hating Yid, was a speaker and there were additional plugs, by other speakers, for the Biden administration. If there was ever time for a Jewish "Winston Churchill" to rise in Israel - a savvy leader capable of "inspiring feeling" (as Winnie put it) among Israel's people to ignore the pusillanimous rhetoric of phony peaceniks and other Islamo/Leftist spinmeisters - the time is now. Israel needs courage. Courage to believe in the G-d of our Patriarchs and Matriarchs. Courage to take and secure what is ours. Courage to do what is necessary even if some of us die (or get booted from the "golf club"). Because without courage there is no Israel. And without Israel, every Jew on the planet had better figure out how to live in hell.

I hope Israel holds strong their position to let Biden know that this skin IS the only element that counts in this insane, death calculus created by Hamas that the world in its infinite antisemitic stupidity and naïveté chooses to follow. Despite all cynical politics that we know is mere performative theater what with ‘there is no daylight between us and Israel’ bs that many of us knew was but temporary- Israel cannot stop. We will forever be fixed as the biggest clowns whoever lived. Let everyone, including this country that I love with all my heart- America, let them condemn us in public the same way I believe the Saudis are doing. Let them. It has been brought to my attention after a lifetime of believing the whole world looked away during the Holocaust...the US sent our soldiers to fight against the Nazis...many loosing their lives for the cause. Israel must do what has to be done. There is plenty of support from Non-Jewish Americans who don't have "Skin in the game," but thoroughly understand the Jewish people and Israel's right to exist.
Joshua, your article's title caught my eye immediately because I agree with you 100%. When I first read about the "hostage deal," I thought I misread. I couldn't believe Israel would make such a deal, especially releasing Palestinian women and those under 18 (who they call children!). An exchange of hostages in stages, along with a ceasefire should have been enough. You have expressed yourself so eloquently in this article, but unfortunately, those who hate us, will continue to do so. I will disagree with you about "intellectual idiots."
