I, for one, am a pro-Israel Republican. President Trump is the first American President whose family has married into a Jewish family. Republican Jewish congressmen have been very supportive of Israel and older voters like me also remember Senator Javits. My Congressional district in Silicon Valley was represented by the late Tom Lantos, a Jewish Hungarian-American who worked with Raoul Wallenberg and was the only Holocaust survivor in Congress. Lantos was a Cold War Democrat and lived long enough for his district to go bad. Lantos’ replacement was a disgusting progressive Democrat named Jackie Speier who was anti-Israel.

The first American president besides Clinton and Biden - both of whom had children married to Jews.

Thanks for the correction.

Of course being married to a Jew is irrelevant when it comes to support for Israel. For example the prior "second gentleman" couldn't have given a damn about Israel and his daughter was running around supporting Hamas.

Ivanka actually converted to Judaism, too.

Excellent article. Thank You . We have to remember we are now living the “ End of Days “ in Torah and HASHEM has the control of everything everywhere all the time. HASHEM promised Eretz Yisrael to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob . At Sinai over 3300 years ago Ishmael and Esau rejected the Torah, only Jews ( first time as a nation) accepted the Torah. We have to remember that two and half tribes have their land share on the eastern side of Jordan River. All this Abraham accords is a failure, Trump is trying to force Israel giving Judea and Samaria and East Jerusalem ( including Kotel) away to Muslims “ for having peace with Saudi-Arabia ! Trump has many Muslims giving advice about Middle East, but Trump himself doesn’t understand that it all started in Judea thousands years ago 🔥🔥The Third Temple and the Kingdom of Yisrael ( Davidic Dynasty ) are eternal and Sanhedrin is also in the Third Temple. Peace comes and all the nature in world calms when Shechinah is dwelling in the Third Temple on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem Very Soon Baruch HASHEM. 🔥HASHEM will soon destroy all the evil and also Satan himself away forever to eternity 🙌🙏🙌🙏🇮🇱❤️🇮🇱HASHEM is making a new world, better world with eternal peace and happiness 🙌🙏🇮🇱❤️🇮🇱🙌🙏

you're mistaken. Trump and his team are on record--they think Gaza, Judea and Sumaria should be Israel's, as well as that mount (I forget the name) that overlooks Lebanon and is necessary for security, too. And just watch--Israel will get those lands back, fully.

Golan Heights?

Yes. And I think it is Mount Hermon where there is a specific area that overlooks the valley below...?

I am not certain, but it seems (s-e-e-m-s) that several of Trump's nearest and dearest new team members may well be VERY pro-Israel in the 'greater' Israel sense. Several of them possibly including the newly appointed USA Ambassador to Israel would likely VERY much want to see Judea & Samaria, all of those historical Jewish heartland regions including all of Jerusalem to be 100% in the hands of Israeli-Jews. Of course several of those nearest and dearest are staunch evangelicals of one sort or another. Not to mention Mrs T. She is remarkable and wonderful and a strong part of Mr T's backbone. One should understandably realize that her viewpoints, beliefs, and ancient held beliefs culturally may hold sway over her whisperings to he. In Australia when politicians as well as normal people have an 'argie-bargie' i.e an all out argument it is also called "a bun fight" (as in a bun fight at an all boys school cafeteria)... so there will be an emotional bun-fight in the White House. But for survival of not getting the famous Trump axing the bun-fight will be silent, muted, and outside of walls that hear everything. Mr T has already, THANKFULLY, axed Viveka!!! Halleluah. He the other billionaire slated to partner the musky one. On the other hand one of The One Muskateer has been thoroughly outed by a closest long time friend and colleague. The West Wing of said white house... has already stepped into a wild west comic-tragedy with spurs on and guns a'blazing. For us Jewish People... stick with the daily orthodox study of the Parashot.

yes, Mike Huckabee, Elise Stefanik are on video stating their beliefs that Judea and Sumaria belong to Israel. Pete Hegseth is extremely supportive, so is Vivek Ramaswamy, and Lindsay Graham, and so many more.

Many strongly Zionist Democratic Jews that I know have developed total cognitive dissonance. They simply can't acknowledge that the party has betrayed them or Israel. I had a discussion with one who insisted that Israel has never had a stronger ally than Joe Biden. They can't acknowledge the truth. They won't.

You are exactly right!!!

The best I could get from my AWFL (affluent, white, female, liberal) Jewish friends was that they hated Trump, voted for Kamala, but, in hushed tones, are glad he won. I'm hoping that the next Republican candidate comes with less "baggage" than Trump and the Jewish vote finally reaches the tipping point in favor of the Republican party. They deserve our vote, in the same way that Democrats did 60 years ago.

There is an old, old, commentary (I won't call it a joke) about the two main U.S. political parties talking about spending the time, money, and energy courting the Jewish vote. The Republicans say, "Fuck the Jews, they won't vote for us anyway." While the Democrat say, "Fuck the Jews. They always vote for us anyeay." Fortunately, just perhaps, one of those parties is actually starting to take it seriously.

I voted Republican for the first time in my life this year. There were domestic reasons as well, such as being very upset about the crime here in the US, but when it came to pushing that button, what was in my mind was my friend's 20 year old daughter in a combat unit in the IDF. How could I ever go to Israel and look anyone in the eye if I voted against Israel's interests? The Democrats have completely abandoned Jewish Americans and Israel, and I see Jewish progressives flocking right back to march with those who threw them under the bus. I won't. And I'm not even Jewish.

The progressives haven’t learned a thing from losing the election.

They’re busy talking about boycotting Amazon because Jeff Bezos didn’t endorse Harris (WaPo didn’t endorse anyone) and how Elon Musk is definitely a Nazi.

They disapprove of Nazis but don’t see that Hamas are just as bad.

It’s likely that Trump forced the ceasefire on Israel which once more won’t be allowed to win a war it clearly could have.

Peter Beinart is a Jewish commentator who writes for the New York Times. These people are best dealt with by the application of argument and facts when people like him put their heads up and defame Israel and question her right to exist: I have again replied to him and de-bunked him once more tonight. Thus:-

'When Democracy comes up against Demographics, the Fear of being out-numbered by groups who have vowed Genocide wins every time. Even America has just voted Trump on these fears even though most of the Immigrants to America at The US Southern border are not organising murder. So get real Mr Beinart. When the West Bank and Gaza finally admit they cannot have a State, (because Hamas is Sworn to use such a State-entity to arm for a War of Genocide against The Jewish People) they will get Democratic self government in their own areas (Area A and Gaza), but without external borders to traffic heavy weapons across. Get real Mr Beinart. Israel is preventing a War of Genocide against The Jewish People. This is why She is ringingly endorsed by America, and why She as a State continues to have the right to Exist.'

We have just had a very successful exercise in Democracy in the USA with the election of President Trump. He is neither a Nazi nor a Genocidal maniac. We can also now say that Democracy as a system of government has successfully negotiated Demographics, the most difficult of Ideological territory, WITHOUT the election of Nazism. Now, Trump will sort Demographics but WITHOUT Nazis and the Psychopaths who would travel with The Nazis into government. Thus on both of these counts, Democracy has won through. Democracy has now answered Demographic fears. Also important is the fact that The Far Right now CANNOT claim that Democracy fails to deal with their concerns, namely the Fear of being out-numbered. So the Job is done and Democracy continues to do its job, to Elect Leaders and remove them if they become violent and corrupt. Both America and The West is immeasurably the stronger for this fact with the Election of Trump, who will, by the way, honour the Constitution by stepping down in four years time. Democracy has won.

Beinart who used to be a strong Zionist when he wrote for the New Republic back in the 90s is no longer a Zionist at all. He gives cover to the Jew haters and is therefore a chillul hashem.

Amen! We have to pay attention and then give attention to the party, both locally and federally, that at least talks the talk. Also, to be vocal in opposition to parties, especially incumbent ones, who are failing to walk the walk. Write letters, call offices, sign petitions, etc., in both cases. Donate where you want to show gratitude for past actions and encourage future ones.

Nearly every 'secularized' i.e. sanitized Jewish organization needs to heed Hamlet's cutting advice to Ophelia: "Get thee to a nunnery" but in our case that metaphor becomes get us to one's own home baked 'yeshiva' a la real books or online. In the case of Jewish 'sanitized' organizations of all sorts they/we all need to heed "If only My people would heed Me, if Israel would walk in my ways." That's from Psalm 81 (an orthodox translation). I'm no expert at all!!! Just an enthusiastic late learner. So many Jewish organizations like us individuals have to catch up with "The BIG Lesson" offered in Simcha Torah aka Oct 7, 2023. There IS something going on and IT is not only rational.. yet oy does the rational count in importance!!!

Although I really like and appreciate the thoughtfulness, clarity, and the backlog of study and consideration that could sculpt such an essay with a pointed bullseye to the eye of the storm... I will say sardonically that the essay is a great piece of Literature. It is not fiction. It is all true. But as your un-appointed aides - in our Resistance Towards Renaissance - such as J.R.Grout and his 'correctors' and M. Urho point out what is true is rarely the whole truth. As I've admitted several times.... my few encounters in academia so to speak and many encounters with a variety of lifestyles... I have always been curious and mindful of the limits of rational arguments/discussions. The ultra rational pundits such as Lawyers who can and do save lives in many ways... are mercenaries of the pen and tongue. It is not to coincidence that most politicians are graduates in Law and are addicts of their own figments of the imagination of 'how to make the world a better' place. 'Bitter' might be better in accuracy than 'better'. Also as the Queens and Kings of the Empire of Rational for those who dare speak of the heinous behavior of the slew of international and national 'health' organizations including their pawns the highly trained and gifted healthcare workers whose Education (brainwashing) is in the ultra rational field of Medicine. Lest we forget... the Scientists prodded and backed the MOST manipulative of the 'health industry' i.e. the marketing squad of THE largest pharmaceutical corporations. So with just a few examples which refer to millions of active participants in those corrupted money making schemes 'for our good'. If one just takes a moment to consider what was just stated in my preferred convoluted 'style' then one can see we live in misunderstanding of the place, value, and limits of the rational. As the Aussies in their past great use of slang were won't to say, for example, the rational "will come back to bite you in the arse". Rational IS great but not without its 'mate'. Yin to its Yang so to speak. "It takes two to tango". The rational always needs an equal opposite.

You made the remark that there is anti-semitism in the Republican party. So let's stipulate that is correct at some level. A lot of right wing whackjobs aren't Republicans btw. But Republicans have not institutionalized anti-semitism. The Democrats have. The Obama doctrine, which is what the US State Department has been following since he was in office, is anti-Israel. The same entities that fund the DNC and Democrat politicians funded many of the pro-Hamas "protests" we've been seeing in the USA. The far Left branch of the what is now essentially a far Left Democratic party are overtly anti-Israel and anti-semitic in their comments. The Party indulges them. Minimal to no action was taken by the Biden Administration or Democrat mayors to stop protests calling for the murder of Jews and the destruction of Israel. That's institutional level anti-semitism. That has never happened in the Republican party.

The Republicans have lots of flaws, the party and the politicians. I'm not a fan of most Republican politicians, beyond the issues around Israel and the current war. Because most politicians from both major parties don't keep their promises or respect their constituents. But if you are a Jew who cares about Israel and you're voting for Democrats, you're not casting a vote that's helping. Sure, there are other issues that are important. Maybe you want more access for abortion or favor large hairy men competing in women's sports, or maybe you just like calling everybody who waves at a crowd ugly names. That's your prerogative as a voting citizen. Most of these things tend to cluster. At the extreme, if you're a Jew who wants to apologize or condemn Israel for defending itself, you're likely to be on the fringes politically, and usually are far Left. So you will be in favor of all sorts of things that Marxists are in favor of. And any American should be opposed to Marxism. We are not a Marxist country and we never will be.

Donald Trump was good for Israel the first time around. I believe he will be again. Wait and see what actions he takes and the outcomes before jumping to conclusions. Maybe I'm wrong. If I am, I'll say so. But kneejerk condemnation is not constructive on any level. There's a lot of heat out there, but very little light. If you want the best ( not perfect) policy towards Israel, then there is only one choice.

Well, as the first born Canadian in my family, who came here in 1963, from Haifa, Israel, I will once again vote for the Conservative party. Although I am not a huge fan of Pierre Poilevre, he has said all the right things about Israel. He has been there and feels the way most Jews do. I am ashamed of our current PM Trudeau, who is clearly anti-Semitic, but also dared to put on his phony face today, in Auschwitz. Someone ought to 'kick him in the beitzim'. That mamzer used to get mine and my late parents' (z"l) vote, until the RH Stephen Harper ran for office. Harper was and still is, a real Mensch. I will always vote in favour of who genuinely loves my Israel. As for the newly elected US President, I worry that he will sell us out to the highest bidder. Please, do not let him sell our Judea and Samaria to the Aravim. We need to start building the 3rd Temple and allow all faiths to once again, be able to pray on the Temple Mount.
