"Of course, this does not mean that there are not evil Israelis and lovely Palestinians, but this is not a dispute between two peoples. It is a dispute between two cultures, where ethno-social constructs are the primary source of conflict."
I seem to have missed any expression of regret for the loss of Jewish and Israeli lives from the Palestinians, their government, or their willfully blind supporters in the western world.
There is no more tragedy unfolding in Gaza than there was in German cities under Allied bombing and Nazi rule.
A bit of history is always missing when recounting the Oslo Accords: they were signed in Sept 1993, Arafat arrived in the West Bank in Dec 1993 and the first suicide bombings of Israeli passenger buses were in Jan 1994, killing 54.
Shimon Peres responded to this by declaring "Israel will resume negotiations after the funerals".
That is how negotiations with the Palestinians work.
Much less, Dresden alone killed tens of thousands, comparable to this entire Gaza war. Then again Germany is bigger than Gaza. Germany lost a few percent of its population during the war? Japan lost about 4%. Gaza is at about 1-2%, the whole Palestinian territories at 0.5-1%.
The crux of Joshe's argument is this: "This is not a dispute between two peoples. It is a dispute between two cultures, where ethno-social constructs are the primary source of conflict." Well, I say: the Muslim occupants of Gaza (and Judea/Samaria) have amply demonstrated over the past 76 years that their "ethno-social" construct is one of extreme barbarism and totalitarianism which is totally incompatible with Israel's quasi-liberal democracy and Jewish values rooted in care for one's fellows.
But Israel is also obliged to “rise up and kill those who come to kill us”. Just as the allies eliminated the Nazi barbarism during the 1940s so must Israel eliminate the Islamist barbarism on her doorstep and in her midst. If it be G-d’s will, the following must happen to ensure Israel’s survival:
Israel’s leaders must summon the will to truly rid Gaza (and Judea/Samaria) of Hamas terrorists and those complicit with them. Just kill them. Take NO prisoners.
Israel must seal off Gaza like a maximum-security prison; allowing not a single Gazan to enter Israel and only allow the minimum of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Israel must continue to build Jewish settlements in Judea/Samaria and build new settlements near the border of Gaza.
Israel must convince Muslim nations and others to allow Palestinians currently residing in Gaza and Judea/Samaria to return to their ancestral homelands in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, wherever – because these civilians have NEVER been indigenous to the land of Israel and never had any interest in forming a peaceful Palestinian state. Such convincing may take a carrot or stick approach.
To accomplish this, Israel must make its primary goal the development of weapons and defense systems so powerful that winning the so-called PR war will be irrelevant. Ditto for the development of advancements in medicine, agriculture, renewable energy, etc. The sharing of these advancements can go a long way towards “convincing” certain countries to assist Israel in ridding her land of the Palestinian culture of death. The threat of having these advancements used against them can also be convincing.
“Ironically, the Jews have done more to “liberate” the Palestinians than Palestinian leaders have done themselves. In one anecdote, the Arab population dramatically increased after Zionists eradicated malaria from the region in the 1920s.”
Sigh. Having eradicated many diseases in Middle Eastern and African lands, Europeans and Americans are now reaping the fruits of their labor: families of ten and eleven who survive, thanks to Western medicines and largesse, to have exponentially more babies (ad infinitum); who, because of overcrowding in their own countries then break through borders, too often violently, take over whole municipalities, and retain primitive ways.
People who celebrate the deliberate massacre of your civilians are undeserving of sympathy when their own people suffer collateral damage during the counter response.
One should never underestimate the stupidity of a backward people and the danger to a civilized society: never forget this ... it will never ever change .. to paraphrase Jimmy Hoffa: you gotta do whatcha gotta do!!!
Yes, it’s a self-inflicted tragedy, and unless we want to have to continue to see this happen every few years we need to support Israel as they finish Hamas once and for all.
The current terrorist leadership hates its own people. Makes no sense, as history tells us, to attempt to accommodate with evil. What progress have we seen? None. Iran, Hamas, etc want to see the total annihilation of the Jewish people. Groups such as these don’t want to compromise. Agreements, accords are pointless. Murder. That’s what drives them. But, fortunately for this world, the Jewish people will prevail.
This American continues to argue the only solution is one unified Israel including Gaza and the West Bank, with Jerusalem a free city open to all faiths. Palestinians who don’t accept this should get out. Israel should help them leave.
Such a powerful piece! Such a tragedy that since October 7th Absolutely no pressure has been applied to Hamas, forcing them to release the hostages. It is all totally one sided.

Susan, from your mouth to G-d's ears!!

Brilliant piece. I love when good writers express what I am thinking so well. I shared with my network.
This is exactly right.
People who celebrate the deliberate massacre of your civilians are undeserving of sympathy when their own people suffer collateral damage during the counter response.
Indeed.
Excellent, powerful article.
Excellent piece, thank you for articulating this sentiment so clearly.
