As the Eternal Hatred flourishes openly in Europe once again - and in fucking New York, of all places - my wife and I, 5th and 6th generation New Yorkers, have been discussing making aliyah all the more seriously. Thanks for this essay.
I will miss England when I come to Israel to live. Basically, Britain has gone Far Right now, and anyone who is not English will be feeling this. Demographic concerns dominate the unspoken Discourse now: Harsh reality, and no-one’s fault as such. Thank goodness for our own country! I will thank G-d every day for fresh fruit to eat. Am YIsrael Chai.

Dear Ella. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. I had the wonderful opportunity to live and work in Israel from 1988 - 1992, rented a house in Herzlia, worked close to Ben Gurion. So much of what you describe I've experienced myself. I have been forever changed by this experience, admire Israel's resilience in the face of an unfair world, and still have Israeli friends who will be part of me for a lifetime. Am sending you and all Israelis love, God's protective arms, a hug, and good energy. Deon Rood, Somerset West, South Africa.
