Kol Hakavod. I commend you for coming forward with your story - welcome!

YESTERDAY was the 54 th anniversary of my moving to Israel from the USA on one of the first 747 Jumbos. I moved to Israel as a Labor Zionist and Golda Meir was my Prime Minister. As the oldest daughter of a Holocaust survivor and Nazi refugee and having lost paternal grandparents in a gas chamber - I knew our history very well and had no illusions of the "galut" I studied on ulpan on Kibbutz and moved after a year to TA.

I cut my wisdom teeth on the Yom Kippur War high pregnant with our oldest son. KEEP TALKING

Would that you could speak to all the former “friends” and colleagues that I have known in America- who only have one narrative that they want to believe in. Especially the “Jewish” ones who know minus zero about Israel. Ignorance is only part of the problem. Arrogance and disinterest in truth is the largest part.

Thank you for opening your mind to search for the truth and sharing your journey. I wish those who propogate lies and false or one-sided information would do their research, which includes visiting Israel and studying the history. Am Yisrael Chai!

That’s why Israel is consistently rated in the top 5 countries for happiness. Hmm the more of these comments I post the more Israel looks inviting to me to emigrate to.

What an amazing piece of blogging / journalism.

I am a very proud British Jew and 100% Zionist plus … thank you for sharing.

I will be passing your piece to a number of people who sadly see Israel in a dim light.

Shabbat Shalom .. and Le Chaim .. I hope the IVF brings you and your husband your loved offspring.

This is a world wide Muslim religious war. Over 2.5 million blacks have been killed by Muslims in Africa...hundreds of thousands of Christians have been killed by Muslims..the BDS movement is a Muslim invasion of America

UK Sweden Finland Norway Portugal Spain France Belgium Netherlands are Muslim countries...wake up your lack of knowledge is incredible....those people are not your friends they are just scared little humans too scared to do anything about this world wide Muslim religious war.

Good for you. Thanks for being forthright with your past misunderstandings and seduction by the Leftist clowns dominating propaganda, er, education in America. We have been discussing making aliyah more seriously since 8 Oct 2023.

We just spent a month in Central Europe, visiting - among other things - mass graves of slaughtered Jews. I also make sure to take pictures of EVERY bronze square in the sidewalk of every European city that commemorate the last known address of a Jew taken by the Nazis and their willing collaborators.

The Ancient Hatred is alive and well - but this time we have a country and an army as well as many aggressive allies whole value Western Civilization which is based in large measure on the Torah, Tanakh and Talmud, whether they know it or not.

"Anyone who was not a liberal at 20 years of age had no heart, while anyone who was still a liberal at 40 had no head." Winston Churchill. Not at all criticizing the writer but her article says, at least to me, that with an open mind one can learn and be teachable which after all isn't that what real intellectual growth is all about?

"Many people . . . view Israel through a binary lens: colonizer versus indigenous, oppressor versus oppressed. But our reality doesn’t fit into the neat narratives pushed by activists and journalists abroad"

The OED defines "narrative as "a spoken or written account of connected events; a story"

Stories differ from statements of belief, opinion, fact, causality, or argument. As the word "story" implies, they tend to contain an element of fiction because they rely on the teller's memory, bias, source of information, and purpose of story. These factors all shape what details the teller will chose to include, what to leave out, and what to minimize.

The statement "And to my former self — the one who didn’t question the narratives, the one who blindly accepted a version of the story that felt the most righteous" bears out the fictional element in any story. It remains for the audience to exercise its critical faculties evaluation what is being narrated to them and the integrity of the narrator. The pitfall of accepting stories at face value is that often the tale is being used to manipulate the listener through well established techniques of Persuasion and Propaganda.

Having cross checked stories coming from the Jews and the Arabs, the pattern that emerges is that the Jewish version tend to be more factually credible.
