Israeli music is a combination of Jewish and non-Jewish music traditions that have come together over the course of a century to create a distinctive musical culture.

For nearly 150 years, musicians have sought original stylistic elements that would define the emerging national spirit. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), and the role of the military in Israeli culture, have also been decisive influences on Israeli music.

Many people know about the IDF’s history of churning out highly successful entrepreneurs and technologists, but what gets overlooked is the myriad of Israeli musical sensations it continues to produce.
