The only problem with Mr. Pipes' proposals is a little book called the Koran, which states on over 100 occasions that Jews and Christians should be subjugated to Islamic Shariah rule, and therein lies the crux of the matter. Until this little issue is resolved, no progress is ever likely to occur.

Indeed this foundational document makes Islamism different from ANY other ideolgy, which has brought about war. One only has to consider the goal of a Global Caliphate to see the difficulty of getting this monster back in its cage

Yes, absolutely true. But all the other terror groups must be eliminated or close to it as well, because they will simply pick up where Hamas leaves off (war on Jews, and other "infidels") if they are allowed to continue recruiting fighters and spreading insanity.

October 7 demands ethnic cleansing. Not in the least sorry to be so indelicate. That new age term flowing so histrionically from high end musings and method actors. October 7 demands death and removal of the murderers who will not change.

The Germans were not ethnically cleansed in World War II. Neither were the Japanese. They were killed by victorious armies that responded when Germany and Japan started World War II. The comparison is exactly the same. Hamas started the war. Israel must finish the war, with the same determination that the Allies had in World War II.

Agreed. I believe there were a number of Germans removed from Poland- as an aside.

Also it would be nice to have a place to put the mishkhan. I’ll be clear we need to boot the WAQF and take control of the temple grounds.

Israel needs to obliterate Palestine by expelling Arabs from Gaza and the West Bank and irreversibly annexing those territories as part of Israel. Then they need to force Jordan and Egypt to integrate these displaced Arabs into their society, not as Palestinians, but as Egyptians and Jordanians. If the expelled Arabs want to return, they can go through the normal immigration policies that every country on earth have. Putting “Palestine” onto the ash heap of history is the only way to get rid of the Palestinians.

Pipes needs to provide a method by which Israel a nation of 12 million people can pursue a strategy of total victory in the face of intractable world opposition.

Pipes proffered this theory many years ago in Commentary Magazine. That theory remains the most logical answer, but, by the world’s response to the events of October 7, seems to be the most unlikely to achieve, even with the Trump Administration’s support.

Implied but not stated broadly enough, Israel has to stop caring about what the west thinks, and has to obviously manufacture its own arms.

Here's an idea that's never been tried before: drop millions of leaflets over Pal villages, each containing quotes from their Quran which state that Israel is for the Jewish people. Add a message about how their leaders have lied to them for decades about Israel being "sacred Muslim land."

The problem with waiting for all hostages to be returned is that hamas, pij, or any of the palestinian terror groups, can always get more hostages. If they can't snatch Israeli hostages from Israel, they can snatch them from all over the world, anyplace where Israeli folk travel and visit.

"Palestinians have refused to concede defeat because Israel has never imposed it upon them. Compare this with postwar Germany and Japan — societies that renounced their militaristic, expansionist ideologies only after their absolute defeat made further resistance unthinkable."

Problem is that Germans and Japanese could give up their expansionist goals and still have their original country. The so-called Palestinians never had a country. Their proto-national identity only emerged 60 years ago in 1964. So long as they subscribe to a national identity, they will not give up trying to eradicate Israel and eliminate Jews. Paradoxically, the charters of the. PA, Hamas, and Hezbollah clearly state that this group is part of the Ummah, Arab by ethnicity, religion, and culture. Being reabsorbed into this Arab Nation through resettlement in Arab lands is the only solution. Until then, there will always be war because the Arabs will always pursue Dar al Harb where any lands conquered by Muslims is considered forever theirs.

Which brings us to the opening statement of the article's third recommendation: A New Message to Palestinians: You lost. "Their leadership has fed them a lethal fantasy — that Israel is a temporary inconvenience, that Palestinian “resistance” will inevitably prevail." Their leaders are not political, but more importantly religious, because the political ones base their authority on the Qur'an and Hadiths. It is easier for a man to give birth to triplets than for a religion to revise its sacred narratives.

Thus Pipes comment "They must renounce the use of force and incitement, domestic and international; drop the foul goal of destroying their Israeli neighbor; stop the demonization of Jews and Israel; and refute antisemitism" can only be realized when the underlying religious dogma promoting violence against Jews is itself excised.

The phrase "The real threat to Zionism . . ." should read, "The real threat to Jews having the right of self determination in the historic, ancestral territory of their homeland . . ." because otherwise the word zionism is too often understood by Jews as well as non-Jews as merely a political ideology which can either be easily abandoned or should be obliterated.

Israel had complete control over the West Bank and Gaza before the Oslo Accords. This gave it the ability to supervise education and messaging. It didn't make a dent.

Israel's problem is that Palestinian rejection is fed from external sources, Arab ones before 1990, then Iran and now possibly Turkey will become the major one.

Israel needs to crush armed insurgents in the West Bank and Gaza by force but then use help from the current administration to normalize relations with the Gulf states. That will cut off the external life support of Palestinian rejection.

There is no way any of this so called Palestinian acceptance will occur. It will take decades to accomplish any of his suggestions, while Israel endures more attacks. The only future for Israel is to start killing them in Gaza and don’t stop till they all want to leave. Then the problem is solved. Co existence is a pipe dream for academics to babble about

A "Catch 22" situation was created and is still inforce. Hamas is leading Yisrael by the nose and every hostage, dead or alive is hanging on that nose. Every released hostage, dead or alive is even more added weight and even more weight is added by their families and everyone else with demands.

Yisrael is in a tunnel of gloom, no way out.

This is for every individual Yahudi.
