Very well said. I agree, I have said for a long time that there are no innocents in Gaza, they are complicit in the kidnappings, rapes and murders committed on Oct 7. I shed no tears for Gaza. I feel nothing but anger for all those protesting in solidarity with these terrorists!

To me, there is an irony that purely by association with Israel, hostages lives don’t matter. In fact, they represent five religions. I used to admire Michelle Obama so much and now wonder if she is an antisemite.

I definitely prefer #letthemgo as our hashtag and I’m putting that up on my window next to my “bring them home poster.” It feels impossible for me to forget them.

Obama funded Iran. His wife could not speak up about the Oct 7 violence against women. Biden funded Iran as well.

Yes!!!! What you said !!! I live in a neighborhood that has been colonized by white anarchists with pink and blue hair who are constantly attacking Israel and whining about the Palestinians. I am afraid to put my “We stand with Israel” flag in my window because I’m sure it would get a brick thrown through it. Black Lives Matter is graffitied everywhere but certainly not Jewish lives matter. I’m desperately trying to move. The performative outrage of the white left on behalf of people who would kill them too is disgraceful. They hate Jews and anyone who has been successful- but especially Jews and especially Israel. “Death to Israel” is graffitied in the public transit station at the University of Pennsylvania. Enough said.

I feel your pain, Joshua. I've expressed mine too, in this forum and elsewhere. I'm one of those people who doesn't like the "victim" role. In fact I hate it. The world is turning Jews into victims again. Real victims. Not the so-called Palestinians who've been coached for 75 years to play the victim while rejecting every opportunity for freedom, peace and prosperity.

My pain and anger reached a peak one day so I wrote to the head of an influential Jewish organization to complain about Jews' being subjected to 1930s-like anti-Semitism in our city and country. "Are we being sheep again??" I asked him.

I won't tell you which org it is and where because I don't want to give a heads-up to any enemies reading this.....and they are. He phoned me back to assure me, "We are NOT sheep!" and inform me about some very impressive security measures being taken to keep Jews from physical harm. That's all I will say about it except to warn our enemies to BACK OFF and to encourage my fellow Jews to get involved wherever you live.

A component of the Israel-hating, pro-Palestinian crowd is a direct outcome of the carefully crafted demonization of Israel campaign which has infected the minds of generations now. These are the people who actually “think” they’re opposing an oppressor and supporting the oppressed. Worse is that the mainstream media (mm) supports this perception by continually and almost exclusively focusing only on dead Arabs, and primarily those killed by Israel, as though nothing else is happening or is worthy of reporting. The mm intentionally fails to report even the basic facts and events of the multiple war fronts Israel is facing and by doing so, day in and day out, is actually complicit in fueling anti-Israel sentiment and antisemitism. We, and the major Jewish organizations, should be bombarding the mm networks with our outrage at their complicity. Or is that just spitting into the wind, especially when the younger crowd gets their “news” from social media. This is when I embrace the Israeli mindset of ‘screw the haters—we know who we are and what we have to do to survive in a world that not only wants us to fail but loves us best dead.’

Nothing, I fear will change this. I learned from my Rabbi about marching with others during the civil rights movement in Nashville, TN. I followed his foot steps and have done the same for 50 years, marching for dignity, protecting the underserved, and fought for security for minorities. Then, as other American Jews have told me, the African American community has abandoned me. My friends have abandoned me: “you’re not a Jew, you don’t go to Temple”. Pro Palestinian comments have caused me to drop off of four civil rights groups I have worked with for decades.

And yet, no one seems to care. No organizations stand with me or for me.

I fear that the only safety for Jews is this upside down world where conservatives are now neoliberal mixed with this neocon attitude to save Israel, the progressives are really a woke community, and I am left out in the cold.

I do not believe that BLM is a legitimate let alone a "vital and necessary" movement as you worded it. It is actually a marxist front movement. Jim Crow has been eliminated for decades and in fact black people are now receiving preferential treatment in hiring, getting accepted to colleges and universities etc. The left still pretends though as if nothing has changed in 60 years.

I am always amazed at the naïveté of Jewish Americans who are “shocked” by the behavior of the left who they thought were aligned with them because they supported that degenerate movement. Anti-semites on the left ( the greatest proportion) and on the right have a few things in common, first they are angry losers who resent anyone or any group that is more successful than they are. their hostility instead of being redirected toward self improvement is directed toward a perceived more successful group conveniently the Jews.

On the right the anti semitism is a result of their reaction to the more despicable prominent representatives of our tribe too numerous to name in politics, entertainment , news , business.

We as Jews have a compulsion to want to be accepted, and liked by our enemies. It is better for us to be respected and yes to an extent feared, take action ( if you are living in a threatening environment , arm yourself or move to a jurisdiction where authorities enforce the law, refuse to be a victim by taking action! Shalom

"the world’s moral framework is truly built on justice — or merely on sociopolitical expediency"

Sociopolitical expediency? Rather than Gen X jargon let's use the term that really applies, 19C Ludwig von Rochau's Realpolitik, of which he said, "The study of the forces that shape, maintain and alter the state is the basis of all political insight and leads to the understanding that the law of power governs the world of states just as the law of gravity governs the physical world."

"I see many Palestinians for who they are: a different culture, historical narrative, and value system not just from Israel, but from the West as a whole."

Even a cursory comparative analysis reveals that the "Palestinian" or, to be more factual, Judean- Samarian and Gazan Arab culture is Arabic, its historical narrative an intricate part of the Umma, and its value system Koranic in origin and execution.

"other movements for justice — vital, necessary movements like #BlackLivesMatter"

One does not want to dig too deeply into #BlackLivesMatter otherwise one would have to admit that it too is thoroughly antisemitic.

"thorny issues surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict . . ."

. . . such as the 1967 The Khartoum Resolution known as "The Three No's":

No peace with Israel

No recognition of Israel

No negotiations with Israel

on the basis of which the US, Europe, and the UN demand Israel implement a Two-State Solution.

"The progressive Left, which tends to be the camp that champions causes of social justice, has largely failed to show up for Jews."

Let's call things for what they are. The progressive Left is the AltL and it has not at all largely failed to show up for Jews: It has totally failed to show up for Jews.

"Every other oppressed group deserves empathy and outrage, but Jews must first pass a political litmus test."

Naïve statement again. Even a cursory scan of declamatory statements issuing from the streets to the campuses, from the Press to the halls of political power reveals that there is no test whatsoever that Jews could pass which would command sympathy let alone empathy from these oh so righteous social justice warriors.

The ideologically corrupt Legacy Media, and indoctrinated universities have helped to drive this narrative of reinforcing antisemitism, and support for the poor Palestinians. I will add to the horrible situation of the hostages, the forgotten Israelis who haven't been in their homes for months, the destruction of Kibbutz, whose survivors can't go back, the daily sirens signaling rockets being fired and Israelis having to run to safe rooms or public shelters until all is clear. Nothing is ever written or told about that, except for an isolated article which rarely happens. Here in the US, it's rare for our president and admin to speak about the hostages or talk about the aforementioned. Our current "president," on vacation in Nantucket, just purchased a wonderful anti-Israel book, by Rashid Khalidi about Israeli settler colonization. No need to wonder why Jewish lives don't matter when just a few weeks ago, he said his support for Israel was "ironclad." With support like that, is it any wonder why Jewish lives don't matter?
