Universities are no longer environments to debate ideas, but are just indoctrination centers. Is there a way back? Probably not in most of western Europe, Australia, Canada and the UK. The US is not far behind and depending on the upcoming elections in 2026 and 2028 we could see either a total loss of the quality of our educational institutions or we could see a turning back to what universities really should be.
It might be the height of irony if the countries that adopt liberal 'small l' values will be those in Eastern Europe.
