I agree with you. This is not in the interests of Israel. Every time I hear that there might be a way to get the hostages back my heart leaps, but a moment later sanity returns and I remind myself what I have always known is true - the only way to do this is to defeat Hamas as fully and completely as possible, understanding some realistic limitations on this plan. Hamas is evil. The PA is evil and the belief that they are an alternative is delusional. The current US administration is desperate to show a “win” and they don’t care what happens to Israel long term. Israel needs to be cynical and hard nosed to survive. Weakness is not the answer. Am Ysrael Chai.

And by the way, who the Hell ever decided it's in the US interest to allow these people into our country in the first place. May be Trump will include all those people in the mass deportation if he's elected.

I am anti-Trump but you are reading my mind. IF he's elected, it's the one thing I WOULD support.

Like Europe- cheap labour, but then family based immigration policies. It adds up. Big mistake

He's not going to deport muslims. In the first place the muslim immigrants unfortunately came here legally and many of them are citizens. Secondly, Trump talks a big game, but I seriously doubt there will be mass deportations even of illegal aliens. Trump tells people what they want to hear and doesn't necessarily follow through.

The reason that this ceasefire Deal will only be short term is because Iran and Hezbollah are, and will be, still at war with Israel, and still call for Genocide against The Jewish People, and they are the backers of Hamas. What they actually think is, 'Ceasefire: What Ceasefire!' This is Fact. We know this because The Call for Genocide is said in the speeches after Friday Prayers every Friday in Iran's central Mosques, for all to hear.

In 1980 Ronald Reagan high-tailed it out of Lebanon when shi’ite militias bombed the embassy. Wasn’t that the beginning of Hezbollah? He left the boys there like sitting ducks then ran away . I trust the Israelis and their IDF.l but not the callow us government. G-d bless Israel -

I have heard the same (I also read and enjoy TOI) but I have to ask myself whether the polling reflects a real understanding of what the deal actually entails. If someone asked me whether I would vote for a deal that releases the hostages I would say yes. If you told me that the deal would likely only release a few hostages at the beginning and prevent Israel from ever destroying Hamas in the future with guarantees from China and Russia and US on Israel compliance then I would say no. How are these polls framed? Even David Horowitz from TOI blasted the original 3 phase proposal on similar grounds and I don’t think this new variant is really much different.

Israel will be smartest to NOT make any deal until Hamas is completely destroyed. The citizens of Israel need to be made to understand the destructive nature of NOT finishing the job once and for all!

Does anyone believe this Israeli government is about to crystallize certain defeat by allowing any version of the PA to play any role in Gaza?

Josh,

That is probably the best analysis of "why not to end the Israel war," I've seen.

You keenly noted how this was really a fake effort for the Democrats and Biden to try to get re-elected by foolish Americans who hate any war, especially one involving us Jews.

For this Jewish boy, I would have had Arafat assasinated years ago, and would have destroyed Hamas hears ago...Which obviously entailed the left in Israel being told to shut up and sit down while we finally do what's best for our country!

It"s way past time for Israel NOT to finish this war, because the next war will be even worse if Hamas is allowed to continue to exist.

Thank You,

Sunny Roseman

Glad you enjoyed it! And Israel did assassinate Arafat, they just won't ever admit it ;) Although I guess you meant sooner rather than when they did in the early 2000s.

The reliability of the US proposal to bring peace is akin to the reliability of the US pier installed to bring food aid to Gaza. Apparently both were designed by Boeing. 🙄

Biden already said: “ I achieved peace in the Middle East.” What peace? What Middle East? But then again, he confused Zelensky with Putin and then Harris with Trump, and said he wants to beat Putin. (I am sure Putin has a big laugh watching this circus. ) But on a serious note - how much more damage can be done in the name of political expediency?

But, on the other hand, just today our friends in Israel sounded optimistic by AMERICAN hand picked government of Gaza and West Bank to be. Are they being misled?

Unfortunately excellent piece of journalism illustrating the actual situation. Then there is a larger game synchronizing all events globally. That is "Agenda 2030" and its link with W.E.F. I'll leave that with more professional researchers such as yourself and Prof. Francisco Gil-White for example. In the meantime we lost one of the most specific researchers into the previous "Agenda" which is completely entrenched globally. "Agenda 21" set in place in 1992. One has to wonder what the crossover is with Oslo Accords as they overlap in the same period of the early 1990's i.e. the G.W. Bush & Clinton Presidencies era. The forensic researcher was Rosa Koire. You can find her 4 part video on youtube when she presented her evidence officially in New Hampshire. The information that you have provided in this essay fits within a broader global elites agenda of which all Western nations (and others!!) are enmeshed. The specificity you illuminate is also daily manipulated by the general. Prof Gil-White is providing the most astute Historic perspective. You are providing here the best overview of the 'local' perspective. I would hope someone equally capable could grasp and communicate the overall global elites "Agenda" that is controlling the local, Historic, and current 'illusion'.

I read in The Times of Israel that over 60% of Israeli support the deal (or one like it). They may be wrong to feel that way, but your column makes it sound like the US is forcing a deal on Israel that no one in Israel desires.

Over 60% of Israelis support a hostage exchange deal IN GENERAL. Not necessarily all the details of ending the war and everything I wrote in this essay.

Finish these bastards off.

Mass murderers and rapists.

The U.S. is not your friend under the Biden Simulation. It’s now public knowledge that Biden is several fries short of a Happy Meal.

Obama and his Islamofascist supporting acolytes are the problem here. The situation in the USA is dynamic and may well become unstable in the near future. Don’t mortgage Israel’s future with a bad deal.

The only way this US foreign policy problem turns around is if Trump wins. Israelis should, and I think probably do, understand this. Ultimately the Iranians and Hezbollah need to be dealt with. While a Biden tries to topple your government and install a puppet regime, you need to be backing the opposition.
