I don't think anything will change until people are made aware that this is a religious war and not a war over land. And once they realize that they will see that actual slavery is acceptable and practiced in the Islamic world. Slavery of black African people, thousands of them, practiced every day by moslems Even in Gaza City, the black neighborhood was called "the slave quarters". Since the progressives seem to be perfectly okay with Islamic gender apartheid, misogyny, homophobia, FGM and antisemitism, they can't possibly be okay with slavery.

can they?

It really is unbelievable. People who want to be seen as morally superior, somehow. Not that this makes them morally superior, but they have bought into "wokeness" and it's politics of the absurd.

I am appalled and uncomprehending at how far the press has strayed from its foundational tenets. Here's quick summary from a quick CoPilot search:

Journalism is guided by a set of principles and ethics designed to ensure the integrity and credibility of the profession. Seriously - Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ? Here are some key principles:

1. **Seek Truth and Report It**: Journalists should strive for accuracy, fairness, and honesty in gathering, reporting, and interpreting information. This includes verifying facts, using original sources, and providing context¹.

2. **Minimize Harm**: Ethical journalism treats sources, subjects, and the public with respect. Journalists should balance the public's need for information against potential harm or discomfort¹.

3. **Act Independently**: Journalists should avoid conflicts of interest and remain free from influences that could compromise their integrity or impartiality. This includes not accepting gifts or favors that could influence their reporting¹.

4. **Be Accountable and Transparent**: Journalists should take responsibility for their work and be open to questions and criticism. They should correct errors promptly and explain their decision-making processes to the public¹.

These principles are often encapsulated in codes of ethics, such as the one from the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), which is widely used as a guide for ethical behavior in newsrooms and classrooms².

Do you have any specific questions about these principles or how they are applied in practice?

And don't get me started on the dissembling of the left.

Once again thank you CoPilot:

The word **"dissembling"** is a verb that means to conceal one's true motives, feelings, or beliefs. It often implies a deliberate act of hiding the truth or presenting a false appearance. Here are some key points about the term:

Definitions

1. **Concealment of True Motives**: Dissembling involves hiding one's real intentions or feelings. For example, someone might dissemble happiness to avoid revealing their true disappointment¹.

2. **Disguise or Conceal**: It can also mean to disguise or conceal something, such as facts or emotions¹.

Synonyms

- **Dissimulate**

- **Pretend**

- **Deceive**

- **Feign**

- **Act**¹

### Examples in Sentences

- "An honest, sincere person with no need to dissemble."

- "She smiled, dissembling her true emotion"¹.

Etymology

The word "dissemble" comes from the late Middle English period, influenced by the word "semblance." It is derived from the Latin word *dissimulare*, which means "to disguise or conceal"¹.

Usage

Dissembling is often used in formal or literary contexts to describe situations where someone is intentionally hiding their true feelings or intentions. For instance, a politician might dissemble during a press conference to avoid revealing the full truth about a controversial issue³.

If you have any specific context or example in mind where you encountered this word, feel free to share! It might help in understanding its usage better.

Trump supports Israel because he needs Miriam Adelson’s money. Republicans are pro-Israel for all the reasons stated in your article (just like Dems), but also for one additional reason that is not “good for the Jews.”

That reason is because of the wing nut evangelical wing who believe that the Jews have to return to Israel in order for Christ to come back so they can all be raptured. At that point, Jews will be forced to convert or be killed; this choice should sound familiar to anyone with even a small amount of knowledge of world history.

Every word out of Trump’s mouth is a lie. So why would American Jews trust him to keep his word about anything relating to Israel? He will say whatever is most expedient for him at any given moment.

American Jews should understand well the threat to us (and everyone else) that nationalism poses. Israel’s far right government, which panders to the Jewish nationalists, is destabilizing Israel and the region. I’d like to see the government move back to the center myself. While I support Israel in the Hamas war, I do not support the actions of the ultra-nationalist/ultra-orthodox West Bank Jews; I believe they are undermining any chance at a long-term peace.

Obviously, Israel has yet to have a trustworthy negotiating partner for the Palestinians. I have no solution for that. But I don’t think the answer is for Israel to emulate them.

Back to Trump quickly: he is a fascist. No one is safe under fascism, especially not the Jews. I know I can’t convince anyone not already convinced of that. Wish I could.

I also wish that Kamala or Joe would very clearly denounce both anti-semitism and anti-Zionism and also put the settler-colonist thing FIRMLY to rest, by the way.

Brilliant. Agree agree agree. Thanks for making the donor money point. Of course! I usually list 1) the fact that Trump is completely without ideology and therefore 100% unreliable; 2) his obvious admiration for dictators which extends to Putin, not himself a lover of Jews; 3) his cordiality with neo-Nazi groups and individuals; 4) his isolationist tendencies, which could end support for Israel at any moment. But yeah, Adelson and evangelicals. Those are the reasons he does support Israel, at least for now. Those evangelicals are slimy.

Bravo, Joshua! Your points about respecting our political adversaries are SO important. They may be people whom we love, members of our family, mensches who deserve our respect. I have trouble extending that acceptance to the 10% of Jews who side with pro-terrorists, but that does not preclude civility. Remember that word? Trump did a pretty good job of erasing it from American culture.

We are between a rock and a hard place. 1) what do you suggest we say to people who are pro Trump because "he will do a better job with Israel." They don't think he's a threat to democracy. They do think he's reliable. (I disagree with both). 2) Seems to me that the actual pro-Palestinians (without the normal lefties supporting reproductive rights, etc.) are not that big a group. Since they are trying to blackmail the Dems, the Dems should go out of their way to say "We support left leaning economic and social justice programs; we support Israel. Take us or leave us." The run of the mill moderate to left-leaning liberal isn't going to vote Trump or even not vote because of a cause thousands of miles away, would they?

Trump has shown exactly all of that.

....................................................................................................................................................................................................................

"I say, to both parties, the Democrats and the Republicans: Earn the Jewish American vote, not just in words but in actions. Show us (don’t just tell us) exactly how you plan to maintain and hopefully grow the incredibly mutually beneficial U.S.-Israel relationship. And show us (don’t just tell us) exactly how you plan to ensure that Jews in America will be undeniably protected and safe across the United States".

You can vote for whatever candidate you prefer, but let’s not pretend that Kamala Harris and Donald Trump display or promise equal levels of support for Israel. Harris is beholden to, and cowed by, the militant pro-Hamas wing of her party.

Trump has no such constraints. The Republican Party is staunchly pro-Israel. Further, Trump has already demonstrated in his first term as President how he honored and strengthened the relationship between the U.S. and Israel, in many historic ways.

Examples:

- Nurturing relationships between Israel and four Arab countries (UAE, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan) in the Abraham Accords

- Moving the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem

- Recognizing Israeli sovereignty in the Golan Heights

- Restoring sanctions on Iran

- Defunding UNWRA

- Withdrawing from the U.N. Human Rights Council

- Countless pro-Israel votes and vetoes in the U.N. Security Council

The contrast is clear. You don’t have to like Trump, but let’s be honest. His support for Israel was expressed in historic and effective policies and actions, not merely in words.

I agree that some of the Trump era Israel policy was good, but out of curiosity, how did you feel about Kushner taking $2B from the Saudis a month after Trump left office? How did you feel about the MANY gifts from foreign governments that remain unaccounted for to this day? The stolen highly classified documents strewn all of MAL for more than 2 years after Trump left office? The cozying up to the most murderous dictators in the world? Plans to withdraw from NATO in a 2nd term? Surely the corruption and threat to national security aren’t good trade-offs for tax policy favorable to your financial situation?

I’ll admit that I’m not in a financial position for tax cuts for the very wealthy to be an enticement, but I’d like to think that I’d still weight national security & ethics (anti-corruption) over tax savings no matter what.

The pro-Hamas people are still pretty fringe. I do fear the creeping anti-semitism on the left, but I fear it less than I fear the evangelical fascists in the R party.

Also, as a Jew, I find the threat of mass deportation of would-be immigrants and legal non-citizen residents abhorrent and the notion of building mass detention camps to hold them while they await deportation even more so.

Thoughts, anyone?
