Beautifully said. Israel is the torch and cry for the Jewish homeland after the tragedy of the Holocaust. A place to live, a place to love, a place to heal 🙏🫂💪🇮🇱💙✨

What an extraordinary tribute you've paid to those who had passed and those who have survived. You have so clearly explained who we are as Jews, and I will remember and keep close every word , because sometimes, in this upside down world of hate, it is easy to fall prey to it. You are so right that because Jews survived against all odds, built a beautiful country from sand, and are thriving, it is the best form of revenge. Israel and its people are not going anywhere and that will be our 'gift' to those who would like to see us disappear. May their memory be a blessing and reminder to us to be proud Jews. Am Yisrael Chai.

Really good message. Thank you. It’s not always easy to speak up, stand up for israel, and the Jews everywhere, but I do,, even when some backlash feels crushing. Your message is important, and inspiring.

Great essay. It filled me with a sense of pride that I take for granted. An important reminder that jews have to respect our differences and always stand together

Zionism resulted from the abuses of Jews in diaspora and of the native Jews who suffered Arab massacres. The Mufti of Jerusalem Al-Husseini, in the early 1920s was rousing Arab mobs to kill native Jews. Pogroms by Arabs against the Native Jews are on record in Jaffa, Jerusalem, Hebron, Safed and across Palestine. Jews were killed with the most horrific massacres, in Hebron, the medical officers reported mutilations of the dead.

Israel is a triumph of Jewish ability actually: The land and the language returning to the world from unimaginable violence, horror and terror. 50 million people in total were murdered by Hitler; 6 Million Jews, as well as 27 Million Russians murdered in ‘The East for Lebensraum for the Ethnic Germans’ (Hitler’s own words). We remember too the Russian Red Army who liberated Auschwitz, some 600,000 were Russian Jewish soldiers, and The Allies too of whom some 450,000 died in combat against The Nazis. But today is a Jewish Day, to remember how Hitler’s plans laid at the Wansee Conference to kill us all FAILED. Am Israel Chai. Israel remains the massive bulwark against the Re-Formed Nazi Party who would do the same again. Always Remembered. Always. Also we know from SOE who interrogated the Nazi Franz Six after the war what the Plan for Britain was under Nazism. He was to be the Nazi Ruler of Britain had The Nazi invasion here been successful: All British men between the ages of 16 to 60 were to be transported to Europe as Slave Labour, with The British Women of these islands taken to be sired with German men as breeding women. We remember: the unimaginable horror and depravity of Hitler and The Nazis. Never forgotten.

A wonderful essay. A country birthed (again) from tragedy is an example to the world of what results from a vibrant, inclusive democracy. Yes, it can be improved, but its success over the last decades is remarkable!

Miraculous I’d say.

Zionism is the movement for the Jewish People’s national self-determination in their ancestral homeland.

Zionism stands as a remarkable example of decolonization, in which an oppressed and exiled people returned to their ancestral homeland, revived their ancient language, and built a vibrant democracy.

Abraham, our Patriarch, was a Zionist

Genesis makes it clear that Zionism is central to Abraham’s new religious mission.

Abraham becomes a Jew and a Zionist at the same time. The first command he receives is “Go from your country [lech lecha], your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.” Abraham’s religious journey begins with a pilgrimage to Israel. Israel is an ever-present theme in the text; when Abraham and Sarah abandon Israel in search of food, it is seen by some, such as the Ramban, as a “major sin.” Their entire lives focus on the dream of building a nation in the land. When Sarah dies, the Bible depicts the intense effort Abraham makes to bury her in Israel. As Ibn Ezra notes, the purchase of a burial plot for her marks the beginning of the future Jewish state.

Genesis makes it clear that Zionism is central to Abraham’s new religious mission.
