The dissemination of libels about Israel often exacerbates tensions and hinders the quest for a nuanced understanding of Israel, Zionism, Israelis, what a “Jewish state” means, and the Middle East.
If, heaven forbid, Israel was demolished by these heartless terrorists, how long would the sympathy last? After all, on October 7, dancing was seen on the streets of many major cities in the world. But when Israel began to fight back, instead of encouragement to rid the area of terrorists, it is condemned. In other words, many except Israel and Jews to hang their heads and walk into the gas chambers. Do people not realize the charters of Hamas, Hezbollah, PA, want to destruction of Israel, and eventually the elimination of all Jews on the face of the earth. Just think of what my people have given the world, and think how empty our lives would be without what we have done, not just for ourselves, but for humanity. I want to see this information on and in all forms of mainstream media!
You're bending over backwards to be even handed. Your opponents will not provide you the same courtesy. While I understand and applaud your effort to be objective, it will be used against Jews.
There is the issue of proportionality. For example, a "settler" ( the term is misleading) commits an act of isolated violence against a small group of people. This is made equivalent to a mass terrorist attack. It's not the case. We should condemn violence against any innocent bystander or civilian. We should condemn unprovoked violence of any kind. But what we don't need to do is wear a hair shirt and apologize for any and all questionable activities by Jews in the face of overwhelming violence, prejudice and hatred.
Benjamin Netanyahu is a hero. You don't have to like him. You may disagree with him on politics, but again, criticizing Netanyahu because one may be on the Left when the anti-Semites want to eviscerate Israel is a mistake IMHO. Netanyahu is a nationalist. The media adopts a point of view incompatible with Israeli nationalism. Jews need to abandon the Left. The Left is the cause of most of the problems that Israel and Jews worldwide have today. They have sold out Israel and the Jews. We need to stand united. Not in defense of anything immoral, but in the defense of the right to a peaceful existence, like any human would aspire to. The Marxists, who are allied with the Islamofascists, would deny us that right. Keep up the good work. I'm telling you these things to encourage you, not to silence you.
People who choose to believe these lies already have their minds made up and are not interested in the facts or achieving peace and understanding. I come across such people all the time and when you point out the truth, they dismiss it as lies and are totally unwilling to change their minds. No matter how many times you point out that the "palestinian" population increases or that Israel is evacuating Gazans and providing field hospitals and aid, or that it warns them to leave, they stick to the claim of "genocide". No matter how many times you point out that Arabs have equal rights in Israel and are in the Knesset and are judges and so forth, they stick to the "apartheid" charge. It's a futile discussion. It's very easy to research the facts, they choose to push the narrative and pretend not to know the truth.
"The spread of misinformation about Israel is a significant barrier to achieving peace and mutual understanding in the Middle East. By critically examining and debunking these pervasive lies, we can foster a more informed and balanced discussion about the region."
It also helps to understand that the current anti-semitism revealed by the 10/7/23 atrocities by Hamas is the same kind as in the past in that part of the world: In WWII the “Arabs” and certainly as led by the Grand Mufti, supported the Nazis. Arafat’s Fatah had the same kind of charter formally espousing anti-semitism as does today’s Hamas. And so anti-Semitism—Jew Hatred— rolls on and spreads.
Too many of the students chanting Palestinian- supporting slogans may not even be aware that they are parroting formally entrenched
anti-Semitic propaganda and policies.
I support the idea that campuses should have and require the teaching of the full and balanced histories of the current conflicts.
“Full histories” require going back at least 6-800 years of the “modern” conflicts and then backwards thousands of years to see the full scale of anti-semitism.
And of course, too many of the current misguided solely-Pro-Palestinian students do not even know that Jesus was Jewish and the students also keep forgetting that Hamas is a terrorist group —supported by Iran and other countries against Israel— that refuses to change its anti-Semitic charter.
The answer to the Palestinian “issues” and even their current terrible suffering (caused by many, including Hamas, as civilians in a war is clearly not a simple “Let’s stop buying Israeli products”, let’s chant slogans, and “Let’s condemn just Israel and ‘the Jews’ bound and determined to commit genocide.”
I live in a remote, rural area where there are no Jewish people. A recent visit to a city brought a chance encounter with a young Jewish man. He told me he left Israel in the fall, but I will never forget his expression when he said his family was still there. As we discussed some recent history, his 'but we are used to it' was so resigned. What must it be like to worry daily for your loved ones, while listening to the lies spewed by a hateful world? And this is one of the reasons I most appreciate the efforts of those like you to get the truth out. Thank you for educating me.
👏Respectfully, a good start and you have "incomplete" in the title; but I think certain sections need to go further within them with additional explanations and definitions. This effort feels like a draft in places, but is clearly needed to counter the ignorant and distorted propaganda spouted by many at demonstrations, letters & comments to editors, and in articles. Perhaps the effort here can be added to and further refined?🙏
I think this article is an understatement and oversimplifies the Israeli struggle and how hard we have consistently worked toward peace even before 1948. You cannot make peace with people who keep walking away and refuse to recognise our right to exist. You don’t mention how they glorify death and how much we celebrate life but that’s a major difference between us. Bibi is the only person for this job and I stand behind him 100%. Releasing terrorists for Israeli prisons just so they can go out and kill more innocent civilians is not the answer. Sinwar was one of those prisoners we not only released, but saved his life and look where it led us.
I understand the value of listing these points. Neuro-linguistic insight shows that you are actually highlighting the lies. You have placed them in bold lettering. You are not the only fellow Jewish person who does that. Many outspoken Jewish writers, interviewees, communal organization leaders continually 'attack from behind'. They continually play the victim card - neuro-linguistically speaking i.e. what we read IS the message we receive. THAT IS one of the main problems with our 'p.r.'. It is us damaging us - repeatedly, endlessly with only occasional exceptions. Stand strong for all those points after your BOLD TITLES. And yes, I am suggesting please go back to the drawing board on this post and please reword it in the affirmative. Also I found Tanto Minciata's comments below to be valuable. Regards as always.
Regarding #13 Israel purposely kills women and children: I love this one. It always make me want to say -- were I face to face with someone who made this claim: "Are women and children out on the street during a way, while the men are hiding?"
I would like to see the references when persons are quoted. For example the statements attributed to the King of Jordan. I could not find them doing a search. Jordan’s statements that they will not participate in any solution that distinguishes Gaza from the West Bank is all I could find

And after Israel, they will continue the assault on all Western democracies.

Regarding #3 Colonialism: don't forget that a lot of land was purchased from landowners during the time of the Ottoman Empire.

This article https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/16/magazine/israel-west-bank-settler-violence-impunity.html perpetuates more myths about all of those who live in so called settlements
An impressive resume, indeed the nuanced stand necessary to surpass tribalism,
