Thank you for a flawlessly written essay. Many young women in the US have had very comfortable lives, never having to hide who they are. They are feckless creatures who, as you have so eloquently pointed out, never had to walk in fear because of the freedoms they enjoy. They are more preoccupied with gender identification and having their rights taken away. The most fear they have is that they won't be able to have an abortion. Anything else outside of their world, they are clueless and indifferent to because it's all about them. It's an extreme form of narcissism that permeates these young women's psyche. Until they rid themselves of the adolescent, "The world revolves around me" attitude, it will be difficult to change their thinking. Perhaps a few years of maturing and a couple of life's hard knocks might change them.

I think the only cure for this stupidity of some of our young woman who are pro-Hamas, is to send them to a Arab nation, for a minimum of six months at no cost to them but if they want to return sooner, they must pay all their own expenses. I think if they last six weeks, it would be a shock!

It would be interesting to know if the counsellors and teachers at the high school of a Lacey, WA, high school girl, who was almost the victim of an honor killing by her parents, had any idea what she was talking about when she appealed to them for help, and they apparently sent her outside to wait on a bus to a shelter, at which point her parents found her and attacked her. It doesn't seem to me that the school had any understanding of the potential gravity of the situation for a young Muslim girl who had an American boyfriend and didn't want to go along with her family's plans for an arranged marriage overseas. Another aspect of the tragic ignorance of the Western world about the very real potential dangers of life for many Muslim girls and women.

Yes that's insane especially if you've seen the woke brigade on YouTube swearing- literally, the only nouns and adjective they use derive from the medieval word for copulation - that they will NEVER HAVE SEX AGAIN WITH A MAN because MEN VOTED FOR Trump.

I know I'll probably have the thought police shoeing up on my doorstep a la Allison Pearson but I have to say that these poor souls do not look or sound like anyone that anyone in their right mind would actually want to copulate with. In fact I'm pretty sure that any man watching these melt downs know in their heart of hearts that they have dodged many, many bullets thanks to Trump.

When I am asked why I object to the Hijab when I see it worn by women in public spaces, I say "because the Hijab is a symbol for the crimes of patriarchy. "

Hi Karen, what a nice surprise to find an essay of yours on Future of Jewish! You have such a clear, simple style, and through it you manage to kick like a mule. Or, probably, a better metaphor would be that you hit with the precision and impact of a seasoned boxer! Your essays on "Break Free with Karen Hunt" and Joshua's invaluable posts here are part of my daily diet, no matter what else is going on. My hat's off to you for fighting the good fight with such grit and grace!

I had a chance to meet Josh in Tel Aviv during my last hangout in Israel. He's a straight shooter, and he's totally committed to speaking truth about Israel. A good guy—and an admirable human being!

Young women in America of a certain type—progressive and fourth-wave feminist—simply do not believe that what is happening to women in Iran or Afghanistan could ever happen to them. All their wailing and garment rending over the horrors of the Patriarchy, all their Handmaid’s Tale dress-up protests, all their “anti-Zionist” playacting, is a bid for status, nothing more. They can express “solidarity” with the Palestinian cause because in their gnarled little hearts they’re sure that the yoke of sharia law will never be closed around their necks. And so the suffering of women who are forced to submit to that yoke has no reality in the collective consciousness of the the Sisterhood.

Would that every left-of-center older Jew - woman or man - read and truly understand this piece and understand both the danger and the immorality of being in a coalition with people who believe and act as these activists do.

Some will claim “oh but it’s just as bad - or worse - with the antisemites on the right”.

But this is simply an untrue claim (made by folks seeking to ostrich-like bury their heads in the sand), as the antisemites on the right are not only much smaller in number, but they have never had political power, and not had respectability on the right in more than 50 years.

While in the last 5-10 years on the left they have both.
