These are the points where this writer is so wrong:
1. Progressives were not irate that President Biden suggested the IS cannot protect jews. They are irate that Israel exists. PERIOD.
2. Biden did not channel the full force of the government to fight antisemitism. This administration did nothing. It’s the Republicans who were most vocal and demanded action. Just look at the disgusting and shameful behavior of Schmuck Schumer.
The writer is right about the following fact: antisemitism on the Right is a fringe movement, condemned by the mainstream Right.
On the Left, antisemitism is a mainstream movement, with very few democratic public figures daring to condemn it.
Democrat Jewish leaders ate too afraid of the likes of AOC and her squad friends, so they say nothing.
Dan Goldman and Josh Shapiro condemn antisemitism, while supporting Kamala Harris, who is definitely NOT a supporter of Israel. Sorry. You cannot have it both ways.
Democrat non jewish leaders are supportive of antisemitic lies, like the genocide lie, or the apartheid lie, all the while claiming they support Israel.
I came to the comments to write almost exactly what you wrote, Bava. That said, I'm grateful for the author's support, but it is important that he also understand where the real antisemitism is coming from--the Left. Many examples exist to prove that Harris coddles the Left's antisemitism and cannot be trusted. I fully trust the Republicans to do their utmost to fight Jew Hate, something that I would not have said 30 years ago, but is obvious now.
Agreed. But unlike you, I identified this antisemitism 30 years ago. Maybe because I came to the USA 45 years ago and never carried the baggage of supporting Democrats.
The fact that Trumps daughter and grandchildren are Jewish bodes well for the Right standing against antisemitism.
What amazes me is that the people rampaging in the streets against Israel make the existence of Israel even more imperative. They seem too low IQ to see that.
The abominable hypocrisy of the anti Zionist crowd blows my mind. They sit back in silence as Assad kills 400,000 of his own citizens, but Israel defends itself and these people go crazy.
The feeling of danger to Jewish people all over the world is palpable. It worries me greatly. Thank God for Israel. After all, God Himself was the original Zionist.
Amen. “Wail, O gate; cry, O city, melt away Philistia…how then will one answer the messengers of the nation? That The Lord has founded Zion, and the afflicted of His people will seek refuge in it.” Isaiah 14:32…. Zion is G-D’s and all its isms and ists belong to Him.
Thank you for writing this beautiful piece. You know, I can’t recall a time when I did feel safe from antisemitism. For many years now, there have been enough threats to my community’s Jewish school and synagogue to warrant hiring private security. In fact, my kids don’t realize that having burly men with guns stationed outside our institutions isn’t normal. Or that not being allowed to walk home alone, per the advice from the police, isn’t normal. And we Jews understand all too well that no amount of money or connections can prevent another Holocaust.
Nick, I sincerely and wholeheartedly thank you for your support and your pro-Zionist stance. We represent less than one half of one percent of the world population and without the support of our non-Jewish allies, we would have disappeared a long time ago.
Its a great essay but I will disagree with you on the Democratic Party and Bidens support for Israel. The extreme Right are a fringe part of the Republican Party but I dont see the extreme Left as the fringe in the Dem Party. The Dem Party has slowly been changing and more and more of the anti-Zionist element have been growing to the point where it is no longer honest to call it the fringe. Had Harris have won for another 4 years, my advice to Jews was to make plans for an emergency exit.
Be well my friend and again, thank you so much for you support. It is so appreciated.
I do not want to comment on progressives. I think that they are completely useless. However you mention Eden Golan. She performed in the Eurovision Song Contest. So many people In the UK voted for her. The European judges gave her no votes. However thr people of the UK gave her enough votes to proceed to the final. We loved her, Don’t assume that the dreadful progressive’s in our society are the norm , the are not !
Correction to your footnote-Ishmael, was not an illegitimate child. It was accepted practice in biblical times for a woman who was barren to give her maid servant to her husband as a surrogate wife. The same practice was repeated with Abraham’s grandson, Jacob.
In fact, when Abraham was informed that he would have a child withSarah, he pleaded with G-d on Ishmael‘s behalf, and G-d promised that Ishmael would be the ancestor of a great nation.
That being said, I appreciate your analysis as well as the description of the evolution of your attitude, based on observations, facts, and deductions. I am grateful to be aware that there are people in the world, as insightful as you are.
A wonderful essay. But let’s not forget that most of this rancor arrived with the relatively recent influx of Arabs and Muslims into America and Europe from their s@@xhole countries. They are behind all the recent protests and anti Jewish propaganda. Now that they’re in, there is no way to ever get them out.
Add stupid Woke thinking that has permeated Western universities and you have the perfect storm. Therefore it is incumbent upon us to organize and fight our enemies. The ADL model is dead.
Palestinians had numerous opportunities to live in peace with Israel and passed every time — so fuck em! And I hate Bibi.
But since I took the time to educate myself I changed from being pro-Palestinian to “It’s waaay too late for a two-state solution.” A hard core Zionist!
An honest and sincere article. But perhaps a few flaws. One that stands out is when the writer says if course Palestinians were hurt when Jews gained success. Actually, the were not. And that is because they didnt exist. Jews were the Palestinians. They were Arabs who lived on land owned by the Ottoman Empire. And if five Arab neighbours dicide to reject the 2 states for 2 peoples and start a war of annihilation of the nascant Jewish state, those Arabs would have had land and governance as well.
There are about two million Israeli citizens that are Arab. They don't flee Israel or emigrate because they have good lives and are not oppressed in Israel. Unlike the Jews who resided in Muslim countries, who were oppressed and fled to Israel in numbers greater than 90%, the Arabs of Israel don't flee the Jewish state. Tells us much about how Israel treat minorities within its borders.
To even SUGGEST that in 2024 Israel's existence is or should be contingent on whether Jews are safe as a minority elsewhere in the World is to fall into the anti-semitic trap. Israel exists because it is the homeland of the Jewish people and has been for 3,000 years. It's existence is not based on how Jew haters feel about it.
I reject what this writer says about Trump vs Biden on the subject of protecting Jews!!! Trump is instrumental to Abraham Accords, which is still holding strong despite what’s going on in the Middle East, because moderate Arab/muslim states are fed up with so called “Palestinian” terrorism and want to benefit from Jewish progress in every sphere of life! Biden when came to WH stop the process of Saudis joining just not to emulate Trump.
Biden in his speech during DNC said that pro-Palestinian protesters “have a point “ and that was disgusting! He also constantly threatened to withhold arms, which is against the policy between USA and Israel! Trump should have gotten Nobel Prize for what he achieved, instead world globalist stood against that. Clinton got Nobel peace prize together with known terrorist Arafat. Where is that peace? Carter got Nobel too. His was most shameful presidency, marking Iran becoming what it is today!

Thank you for publishing this. It means so much to have brave allies.

Me too! Jews have nowhere else to go! And they MUST be protected by any means necessary!
Me too.
Nailed it.

Trump is one of the most philosemitic presidents we've ever had.
