This one is so good. Just subscribed to the author’s blog. As an American non Jew this all seems obvious to me. We must destroy an enemy who has been taught to want to destroy us from birth on. Why American Jews are often so wishy washy is confusing to me. Regular Americans who are not infected with the woke ideology and understand that the enemies of Israel are our enemies too are with Israel. The Left has an ideology of self destruction. I’m glad a new generation f Israelis is fighting this. I hope to help Americans fight this rot as well.

Thanks April. There are historical reasons for American Jewry’s liberalism and progressivism. They are “guilty” of these not because they want to see America broken down, but because of their large, misguided hearts. They are victims of their own loving-kindness. “If you are kind-hearted to the evil, you will be cruel to the righteous.”

“They are “guilty” of these not because they want to see America broken down, but because of their large, misguided hearts.”

I am with April here Ehud; you have done well. That said, I would venture to say that your statement above is only partially true. In other words, there are radical leftist Jews who do indeed ‘want to see America broken down’. But they are joined by a considerably larger number of Gentile Americans who share the same worldview or, at least, that singular and prominent goal.

That there are Jewish people involved in pursuing such goals is heartbreaking to me, because:

1) Such American Jews are not only betraying America, they are betraying their people, Israel as a nation, and their God; and,

2) By their actions and their rhetoric, such people, and their counterparts in other Western nations, fuel so much of the rampant, venomous, anti-Semitism that is overwhelming social media and civic discourse in the Western world.

I have been battling against anti-Semitism, particularly in its more devious disguise as ‘anti-Zionism’ for at least two decades. It has always been draining, but I am now fighting much stronger and more frequent waves of discouragement and weariness from the battle. If I did not have my faith, and the relationship with G-d through Yeshua that I am blessed with, I don’t know how I could continue much longer.

But, such as it is, I believe I am called in part to engage in this battle, and my heart’s desire is to fight for what is good and right and true, to the best of my ability, and my last breath. Amongst other things, that means I fight for the welfare of Israel and the Chosen People, as I am equipped and given opportunity - in the power and by the grace of G-d Almighty.

You write: 'But they are joined by a considerably larger number of Gentile Americans who share the same worldview or, at least, that singular and prominent goal.' Well, I think their world view got soundly beaten in the American Election this year. I have said, played well, MAGA will be in for the next 30 years, (if the politicians avoid corruption). By then the rot will have been stopped permanently and Demographics will have been restored, and The West's security safeguarded for the next 200 years. But the necessary reality must be to prevent Financial Corruption, and this means financial diversity to prevent any one Elite (and I CERTAINLY include the (Far) Right and the Conservatives in this) simply printing the Currencies of The West into oblivion. Best wishes and good luck. Dan in London.

Well Dan, I spent quite some time writing a response earlier, but lost the entire thing before I could get it out. So, here’s the truncated version:

While He generally uses people in accomplishing His will on Earth, it is only due to a series of literal miracles that we stand where we are in America today. So, the credit rightfully belongs to G-d.

Those of us in America who believe in the G-d of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, - and who believe in the efficacy of prayer - thank Him for answered prayers in this respect, and continue to pray for continued restraining of the evil rampant in America, as well as the rest of the world, and the promising future you share above might be realized.

BUT, we also have come to realize that EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN INSTITUTION has been ‘captured’ by people who are corrupt, compromised, blackmailed, and/or evil - and it is only going to be by another series of literal miracles that we see a Trump Administration inaugurated 50 days from now.

May it be so, for the good of all freedom, truth, and G-d loving persons worldwide!

Do not get disheartened. There is a place for Religion if religion makes us kinder. I like Trump, and I like MAGA, but both told a lot of lies to get to power. This indicates a G-d Who is not Almighty, if He needs politics to take power. I include the Horrors of The Nazi Militias which supported Trump, and were never disowned by Trump. All of this is Logical Reality, and is therefore True. And before you say Nazism does G-d's work, I would remind you Hitler killed 50 Million innocents. Thank you for taking the time to reply to me.

We Americans as well as the Israelis have had enough of the self-hating, self-destructive poisonous ideology of "wokeism". This hideous ideology was destroying us. Both America and Israel now stand tall, proud and unapologetic. We are in the right, our enemies are evil, period.

Freedom from Shame, and the Demand for equality of that which is actually Inferior are what drives the Woke faction. It really had no place in politics. The voter saw through this in America, and they lost. Beware words like Evil though, Laura. Such Religious Hate was and is ALWAYS eventually used against Jews, and leads INEVITABLY to Mass Murder.

I am with you re "woke-ness" but I don't think we're over it yet. Israel is far too caring about what others think. I recently opined there should be an ad campaign that simply says: We're Israel and we don't care what you think." lol Anyway, hopefully the woke idiots will soon be gone.

Here I must disagree. MAGA is corrupt at its core. Aside from that there is, at least verbally, a tendency toward isolationism that I think is very self-destructive AND a love to strongmen that is unfathomable. Still, some good may come of it. Who knows? T47 is very unreliable and that is actually a good thing when it comes to global politics.

So one would think if one were following the Rule of Law — think "Uti possidetis juris," the very rules of the game the UN has applied to territorial disputes in America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Apparently, the only difference between its application in other geographical land claims settlement and here is that Jews are involved. As everyone knows, this is reason enough to ignore history, archeology, and jurisprudence. Sounds very paranoid, but then again, just because you may be paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Every war ends with the words 'Never Again!'. And never has this been LESS true than in the Toilet which is The Middle East. You write: 'There are vested interests in promoting these ideas, monied interests and powerful interests to the tune of sovereign countries.' Easy living is where the problem begins. Grass-roots Israel understands that the War with ISLAMIST Islam is ETERNAL. It is a FOREVER WAR, as I have written before. We Anti-Fascists know this to be true of our fight against Nazism, when we say 'The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance.' These must now be the watchwords of the IDF. I have devoted forty-five years of my life to ACTIVELY doing just this here in The UK. Israel's Leaders must now commit to the same. They demand this of The Diaspora. We do. They must do too: Every centimetre of the Borders watched for weapons-smuggling, and terrorist-incursions.

True, we must be ever vigilant. But I always think of WW2: we decimated the enemy and then rebuilt it in our image. Not saying there re no neo-Nazis - sure there are - but Germany and Japan are great allies and for the most part trustworthy. Still, we must always be watching. And we don't. We clearly have no taste for it anymore -- that is dangerous.

We have been watching the German Intelligence Services, with Nazi Elements of MI6 here in London, re-forming The Nazi Party in 2012. Together with Vicious Hate Speech against Jews by them, this has now been fully monitored. The threat to Freedom and Democracy here in The West, and against Russians and Jews who have both been subjected to vicious attack by these Nazis, has never been more dangerous than now.

Military history is, of course, replete with what may be called intelligence failures. Examples from the United States include Gettysburg, Pearl Harbor, the Battle of the Bulge, and 9/11. The Duke of Wellington observed that the business of war consists of guessing what is on the other side of the hill, and military leaders, from the level of the rifle squad to that of the Pentagon, sometimes guess wrong. A related observation is that of Clausewitz who said that war resembles nothing so much as gambling—a game of chance.

Wrong guesses arise from various causes: bad intelligence, poor judgement, simple hubris. Typically, these causes act in combination, as they did in the case of 10/7. And, as noted in this article, they can have parlous effects on long-range military policies, such as the configuration, equipment, and doctrine of the military establishment. Decisions taken long before the next war affect the way that war will have to be fought, and whether it’s won or lost.

Viewing the matter from an even higher altitude, account has to be taken of what may broadly be termed national character. Nations prepare for and fight wars based on their national peculiarities. A simple example is Britain, which as an island nation with a sense of distance from continental Europe, historically emphasized naval power. Only with the advent of airpower was that emphasis called into question. The American way of war was similarly affected, first by geographical isolation and then by overwhelming industrial and technological superiority.

So what has happened to Israel on and after 10/7 is a question with no cut-and-dried answer. I myself am not inclined to think that it was because the country’s armed forces were wrongly configured. It may be that to some extent high-tech was embraced to the detriment of the poor bloody infantry. That may have been a contributing factor. But a small country like Israel, situated in such a dangerous neighborhood, ought certainly to leverage its technological military advantages. The IDF should obviously be made as lethal as possible in opposition to a numerically superior enemy.

I think that the real failure was that Israel’s civilian and military leadership lost sight of a home truth of war: THE ENEMY ALWAYS GETS A VOTE. They failed to ask themselves: “How might Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, etc. analyze the situation and evolve workarounds to neutralize our undoubted advantages?”

That Israel’s domestic politics are so chaotic no doubt furthered that failure of imagination. I’ve come to realize that the IDF’s senior leadership is highly politicized—which is no doubt why it took its eye off the ball. And the fact that the IDF is, in effect, a people’s militia has its downside. Air Force reservists going on strike because they opposed the elected government’s policy on judicial reform was startling to this American soldier (retired), for whom an apolitical military establishment is a genius of the manifest. Soldiers are supposed to obey lawful orders, period.

In principle there’s nothing wrong with the Jewish state being a fractious, contentious society. A good deal of Jewish humor plays off the observation that wherever three Jews are gathered together, there are twelve opinions on every issue. I think that Israel’s problem, revealed by 10/7, is that the country lacks the institutional guardrails within which that fractiousness can safely flourish. Israel could benefit from the promulgation of a formal, written constitution. I offer this observation in all modesty, as a mere outside observer.

"The enemy always gets a vote." That's it in a nutshell. I hope they are asking themselves this as we speak, but I do not think that they are capable of doing so. We've wounded the enemy, but we've let up. Great comment Thomas, I'm sitting here nodding my head in agreement all the way through.

Meanwhile back in America we suffer from the same woke hubris.

A military designed as an agent of social change purged of patriotic warriors.

A political class, corrupt and unable to be held accountable for their criminal behavior.

Three letter governmental agencies ruling by regulation, blackmail and intimidation.

The parallels with Israel as you describe in your essay are remarkable, think accountability.

I find it astounding that America, my country, a nation who has sent its young to fight and die all over the world to stop evil, now permits evil to flourish in the name of what? Dirty money and war profiteering?

If the new leadership in Israel remembers one thing it should be that reliance on America to “have your back” changes with the political wind.

I find it more than ironic that the American political left has empowered Iran in ways that have made Israel suffer and bleed.

I have hope that change is coming.

The mullas of Iran must be dealt with in a decisive way.

All we in Israel and The West can do is build up our Defences to the highest. This is the Forever war. Accept this and move on.
