'Making the Israel-Palestinian Conflict (more) Exasperating' is what the writers mean. Also, I would like to hear more about the Confederate models mentioned: A one state Solution but with separate Legislative Chamber for The Palestinians, since Representation in the such a Legal Chamber as a Civil Power, for Not-Israel Area A and Gaza, protects Israel as a Majority Jewish State in a World where Fascism and even Nazism has been Re-Formed and backed by some countries here in The West.
Why, would they listen or are they even interested. Everyone has their own agenda. After all, it is only Israel that is literally fighting for their own existence.
“Exacerbate” is an action (verb) that makes a bad situation worse — this is the correct word for the title — “Western Leaders are Exacerbating the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict (they are making it worse). “Exasperation” is an emotion one feels when frustrated or very irritated.
I find it extremely exasperating that Western leaders are exacerbating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by pursuing failed policies.
Israelis do not support a two state solution because it would be governed by genocidal enemies. Palestinians, for the most part, have been indoctrinated with antisemitism and will not accept Israel.
Since both people are indigenous to land and not going anywhere, there is no other solution, but two states. However, it is doomed to failure unless the Palestinian population is deradicalized. Until then, a large demilitarized zone will be necessary and Israel will need to do what is needed to protect its citizens from terror.
This worked in Nazi Germany after the war, and could work again. We have failed in seeking peace over and over since UNWRA continues to indoctrinate almost all Palestinian children in Jew hatred. We cannot seek peace and allow their education system to remain unchanged.
The ““Woke” clowns, Marxists, and their sicko Islamist friends” are not advocating a two state solution. They are the ones chanting “Palestine will be free from the river to the sea.”
A single state ethnically cleansed of all Jews is as repugnant as one cleared of all Arabs.
My big worry is that the US will put so much pressure on Bibi that he will do a deal that will hurt Israel. A deal that the Democrats want for political purposes. They are not looking out the the best interest of both parties ...... their concern is the Democratic Party only. Israel has bought into the 2 state solution for decades .... every concession it made was in the hopes for two states to live peacefully side by side. At this point, especially after Oct 7th, Israel realizes that it can never happen while the Palestinians have a culture of hate and death. Perhaps there are Confederate models that will work but in order for a 2 state solution, you need Hamas gone, a new PA government that is not corrupt and a school curriculum that fosters peace and not hate. I dont see that happening in the near future, do you? papa j
I agree totally with what you say! These totally ignorant Western Countries, are the ultimate destruction tools. Why is this happening? Because of cowardice and naivety! How can you plan an outcome, unless you have skin in the ground? This plan will cause a war from hell. All of us that truly understand the situation know that. The so called Palestinian people refuse to accept the Jewish people. Throughout various peace deals they refuse to accept their right to exist. Until the US and the UN demand that the current negotiations include a pledge from from Hamas to recognise this, it cannot succeed. Personally I believe that Israel must stand hard on this. This must happen! Most of the world knows nothing about the fact that Hamas refuses to do this.
Not really sure where you are going with this one. Are you suggesting a single state with a constitutional democracy, a truth and reconciliation commission and equal rights for all? If so, I am with you. Otherwise, not so much.
As a quick fact check, as recently as last April, Hamas declared its readiness to lay down arms in exchange for pre-1967 lines. You can argue that this is just talk, but I think you get yourself into some dubious territory when you start making declarations about "what Palestinans want".
Since the formation of the state of Israel, its destruction and the murder of Jews by its enemies has never ceased and never will, until all the Jews are murdered. The enemies of Israel have told them so. They will never release the hostages even if their absurd demands are met. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Plan accordingly. Act accordingly.
This American most strongly feels the One State Solution you discuss is the best path forward. Palestinians must also break the bonds of oppression their own leaders subject them to, while surrounding states and UNRWA can enable them to emigrate towards new opportunities. It is the only way.
One state with a strong constitution enshrining religious freedom and human rights, a universal education system with an emphasis on humanism, and a truth and reconciliation commission for the rectification of past wrongs might be a good place to start.
This is a very insightful article. I agree with you. I've always wondered why there is a knee jerk ignorant idea that giving the Palestinians a state of their own would create peace. I would like to add that another reason the world thinks a two state solution would solve any conflict, is the Arab population in Judea and Samaria. They don't want to put any effort in coming up with a solution that may actually work. It's lazy thinking. They all have their own domestic issues to solve and they think this will solve the problem, accept they don't realize that the problem is coming to them.
I agree with Cynthia Lazar. First with her question, where are you going with this? And then with her argument that a two state solution is the only answer if the Palestinians are deradicalized. That’s the big ‘if!’ But to expect Israel to manage monitor , collect taxes and work with the Palestinian authority in an administrative function is really nonsense. Some gradual cooperation would hopefully evolve, but the Palestinians need to elect a government and try to create a state that functions for them, and that does not represent a terrorist threat to Israel. Until that is possible there will be no peace. One of the zones in the West Bank will have to be divided up to appease the Jewish extremists living there. It is those extremist that are making it more difficult for peace to be achieved. A government in Israel that puts some controls on those people and enables the West Bank to become somewhat of a functioning state may bode well for peace in the future. The status quo cannot be maintained indefinitely. Israel cannot continue to fight the kind of war it is currently fighting and will continue to fight under the current conditions. A productive Israel is not sustainable with the present approach it is forced to use to solve these problems. A new Israeli government is essential.
It is hard to take seriously any publication that conducts its communications in English but does not know how to use English correctly, or how to check that its writers know how to communicate in English. I understand that FoJ has limited funds, but words do matter.
I’ve never heard it used as a verb in the -ing form
I don’t think NATO would hold up and meet its obligations if Eastern Europe was attacked. There’s no security guarantee for Israel except Israel. If a newly minted bizarrely rewarded Palestinian country attacks Israel what then? Rinse repeat only it’s much worse.
You mean "exacerbating", not "exasperating".

I was thinking exactly the same thing but didn’t know how to tell them.
Why, would they listen or are they even interested. Everyone has their own agenda. After all, it is only Israel that is literally fighting for their own existence.
The solution is simple. Everyone else just get the hell out of the way and let Israel handle its own business.

What solution are you suggesting?

Very insightful thought provoking article.

Islamic history is full of war, death and destruction.
Wars they caused.

You do not understand the Muslim mindset. It is impossible for Islamicists and non-Islamic societies to coexist peacefully. Impossible.

So you are training to run in the Olympics. Good luck! 😬

It’s a legitimate but awkward use of exasperating
I’ve never heard it used as a verb in the -ing form

Is it possible that they meant “exacerbating”?
I thought so too at first but it’s not clear. Would be the better word for sure.
