Truth. Before the 14,000 Ethiopian Jews were airlifted, my cousin was part of a team that interviewed them to determine if they were Jewish; many others wanted also to come to Israel.

The Diaspora must focus on persuading all Jews, including observant and non, young and old, all political parties, the importance of a unified voice supporting Israel. You said it correctly that Jews in the Diaspora are guests and as such there comes a time when we become unwelcome. As Mark Twain said, history rhymes.

Yes. Pure truth. But many will not learn . And many others do not want to learn. They will prove this when they vote in NY on November 4

I agree & I’m doing it. I do wish Israel would fight harder against Qatar, etc. on the information front, though. The diaspora is trying, but we are not winning hearts & minds.

You are right; mostly we are preaching to the choir. It seems we need to influence first the fence-sitters. Maybe publicizing the violence occurring towards Jews everywhere will start the process; fear is an effective motivator.

Another brilliant essay, Joshua!

I’m forwarding your essay to the editor and publisher of the AZ Jewish News who just now published a full one page article about an AZ resident, Emily Wilder, who participated in the Freedom Flotilla Coalition which was intercepted by the Israeli Navy eruv Yom Kippur. She was sponsored by the Jewish Currents’ publisher (Daniel May) because “of the value of the reporting she could produce.” The article was filled with blood libels and hostility towards the Israeli military and the Jewish State. Am Yisrael Chai!!

Jews Demand Action

In the link below is a list of self-hating, auto-antisemitic Jews who sent a despicable circular to the UN and other governments to take action against the State of Israel and its government for defending itself and the people of Israel against the Palestinian terrorist organizations, mainly Hamas ISIS in Gaza.

https://jewsdemandaction.org/

Please read their disgraceful letter.

Please watch the following clip:

Why Condemning Israel Now Is Moral Blindness

On October 7, 2023, the State of Israel was subjected to the most barbaric assault on the Jewish people since the Holocaust. Thousands of missiles were fired from Gaza, and roughly six thousand Hamas terrorists invaded our towns, villages, and kibbutzim in the south.

Their objective was not territorial or political — it was genocide. They went house to house, murdering families, torching homes, shooting civilians in their cars, slaughtering the elderly and young children alike, and hacking people to death with axes. At the Nova music festival, armed paragliders opened fire on innocent youth, massacring 384 young men and women who were running for their lives. 1,200 innocent Israelis were slaughtered.

The world has seen the evidence: women raped and burned alive; infants decapitated; bodies of Israelis desecrated and paraded through Gaza’s streets; parents forced to watch their babies murdered before being executed themselves. Two hundred fifty-one Israelis, alive and dead, — men, women, children, and mothers with infants — were kidnapped into Hamas’s terror tunnels and held in inhuman conditions.

This was not a conflict. It was a pogrom — a calculated, sadistic attempt to annihilate Jews. And while Israel was still burying its dead, rockets rained down from Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Iran, and Palestinian terrorist organizations in Judea and Samaria launched attacks inside our borders. Our people were attacked on multiple fronts simply for existing.

To make matters worse, Hamas leaders have publicly declared that they would repeat the atrocities of October 7 **again and again** until Israel is destroyed. They have never hidden their genocidal intent. That is the true face of the enemy Israel is fighting.

Yet now, a group of individuals calling themselves “Jews Demand Action” has chosen to accuse Israel — the victim of this barbarity — of “violations of international law.” These signatories, whether out of ignorance, moral confusion, or self-hatred, lend legitimacy to Hamas’s propaganda and betray the very values they claim to defend.

Israel, like any democracy, has the right and the obligation to defend its citizens. No nation on earth would respond differently to such atrocities. To call for sanctions against Israel while remaining silent about Hamas’s crimes against humanity is not a call for justice — it is complicity with evil.

Those who attack Israel’s legitimacy at this moment are not promoting peace or human rights; they are undermining the moral foundation of both.

History will remember who stood with the defenders of life and who sided, even indirectly, with those who glorify death.

I looked at the "Jews Demand" letter.....my answer is "IN MY NAME" I am not sorrowful that Israel has destroyed hamas, hezbollah and Iran's ability to cause harm and death and yes genocide.

There was no genocide and you never heard anyone in Israel talking about genocide.

Jews are the one group that are fortunate to have a home when their home country is gone. Whether in France, The UK, Russia, Canada or anywhere else, when things get bad enough Jews are always welcome in Israel.

Jews have come from being the most unfortunate of peoples in 1st half of the 20th century to being the most fortunate in this way in the 21st century.

It is a powerful and uplifting story for all of us - this permanent home away from home for Jews and non-Jews alike.

Great article, thank you Joshua.

Excellent essay ...the cogent part for me is the role Israel plays in protecting Jews....including those who use their celebrity, their moment at an awards ceremony to heap abuse on the Jewish nation. Mandy Patinkin played a CIA operative but is clueless otherwise and goes on his virtue signaling rant with his wife. In 1967, there was real pride and RELIEF that Israel was so victorious. Since then the enemies have been whittling away at the victory....now we have the opposite...I have to go early vote to try perhaps uselessly, to prevent a rabid Israelophobe and closet? antisemite from being elected mayor.....he appeared with post Jewish Polish American communist B. Sanders.....that's his idea of a "good Jew" Dimmitude and subservient. Now he's shyring about being victim of Islamophobia. Anyway, you made many good points in the role Israel plays in protecting even the Jews too dense too realize this.
