One more thing: wouldn't cutting military aid to Israel make our military-industrial complex plenty angry? That's where all the money is spent, after all (or most of it). Won't they be pressuring Biden to continue that aid?
In the meantime, Biden had to go to hoops to send Israel what they need as the GOP house refuse to do so as they only want to play politics, the proud Boys and Trump supports each other and the GOP so who is the party of antisemitism?
Perhaps the Palestinians need to be given the freedom and resources to relocate. That would be money better well spent than trying to force a two state solution. Those that want to stay can swear and be held to a loyalty oath. Hopefully they can help and become productive members of a revitalized Israeli society and identity.
In politics, it has been people last and self interest of the polticians first. Biden is not a leader, hence, the conflicts we are seeing globally thanks to his weakness as president. Watching him and the decisions he and his admin make is like watching a weak teacher, whose students know that whatever they do, they'll get away with in the classroom. It's basic pschology that the weak can be preyed upon when there are no consequences. How these pols have the audacity to talk about a Palestinian State is beyond any rational thought I have. This war and these times are different. Israel should not in any way give into this line of thinking, nor should they even entertain the idea of an exhange of more hostages for more Palestinian criminals in prison. The rules have changed in this war. Israel cannot afford to placate these people or show weakness to Hamas and the rest of the controlling Arab countries. Israel has known from past experience that ceasefires, agreements have failed, and that Hamas and other proxy country's words cannot be trusted. Israel and its people are the only priority right now because it's a matter of their survival. Am Yisrael Chai!!
When you write "Biden", this should be understood by everyone as "Obama, Volume II". This is all Obama and Vallery Jarrett. I'm the older days, we had Rush Limbaugh to paint these pictures. And he did.
And where is the mention of George Soros, the puppeteer?
Generally, the average Democrat voter despises Jews. It's crazy that any Jewish voter will vote for any Democrat. The days of Scoop Jackson, Paul Tsongas, and Major Owens are long, long gone.
The days of the Dulles brothers and their deep hatred for Jews continue to live on.
Biden is a tool, demented or just dumb, he's a tool. Watch Obama. Pay attention to Soros. Be mindful of what spews from the likes of Noam Chomsky.
Just name me one Democratic president who said things as outrageous as " there are good people on BOTH sides ok?" when talking about one of the sides that was chanting Jews will not replace us!
This very interesting piece points out that support is always predicated on personal gain (political career, in this case). Losing votes might effectively undo this perception of being a "fervent supporter of Israel."
Joe Biden is a fervent supporter of Israel, saying otherwise is completely outrageous! Not only he immediately and unequivocally blamed Hamas but travelled to Israel and embraced Netanyahu and immediately told him he will do whatever he needs to. Even at this time when the GOP is holding him up to do so. Fro political reason .
Now does a friend is able able to speak frankly and voice an opinion that even 3/4 of Israel believes is correct. I do think so. If your editorial is going to become an attack on democratic views please refund my subscription immediately as there are plenty of other Jewish news sources I can and will support instead!
Joe Biden is a fervent supporter of Joe Biden. He will do whatever will win him votes. That’s what politicians do on both sides. And no, why would any Israeli not want to complete their mission against the savages who want to destroy them. Why don’t Jews in the West wake up?
Because it is easier for you to say this than to “complete de mission” as we are now realizing we are still waiting for the hostages and losing our own soldiers daily. The entire country’s has been at a standstill for almost 4 Months! Hamas elite is still at large and untouched and able to regroup as soon as we retreat . You are never going to be able to control 2 Million people in Gaza you are fighting an ideology. Right now being able to negotiate the release of the hostages and continuing talking security for Israel should be the only things that matter. Unless we are ready for more war with the whole region and more losses.
Not only is Biden courageous for supporting Israel because it is the moral thing to do, he has also been one of the best presidents we have had for a long time. The problem is that the Democrat party has always been poor at communicating their accomplishments. I hope this doesn't become a right wing platform.
I agree with his support of Israel, however, best President is a silly stretch. 13 dead in Afghanistan, 3 dead and 30 injured today, incredible spending beyond Trump overspending, inflation ( fortunately ebbing), open border invasion and Kamala Harris??? Let’s get real!
Joe Biden has been to date the biggest supporter Israel has ever had. He has supported Israel in words and deeds. This is not just my opinion but the opinion of Israeli politicians and military. Yes he has political considerations but you can’t deny what he has said and done.
I’ll correct it: the biggest supporter among US Presidents. What he has done in the last 120 days is nothing short of breathtaking. I understand the concern that he can’t sustain that, but so far he has (1) created the “ammunition train” that provided massive weapons when Israel needed them most; (2) personally gone to Israel to show support in the middle of a conflict- the only U.S. President to do so; (3) acted without Congress’s approval to send more aid - arguably an unconstitutional exercise of power; (4) pressured allies to support Israel; (5) risked American lives by moving a carrier fleet into position to threaten Hezbollah, possibly preventing escalation (yes I know Hezbollah is firing rockets, but to date the scale of that conflict has not been the all- out war Israel does not want (6) cut off UNRWA aid and got allies to do so, and (7) sent Anthony Blinken and other top officials on multiple rounds of shuttle diplomacy not seen since Kissinger. Amazing.
Yes, I acknowledged some of this in my piece. The aid is great, although reports over the weekend are that he might be using it as leverage now, which is dangerous for Israel which is now knee-deep into this war, and it will make future American allies lose faith that America is willing to stick with them through thick and thin, not just at the beginning of conflicts when it is popular to do so.
Your other points are nice but void of grouping antisemitism and Islamophobia together nonstop, being insistent on a Palestinian state even though it's unclear if that's what the Palestinians want, and if they are truly willing to live next to a Jewish state and share the land. History tells us no, and the sample size is huge.
So let's not just point out the good things and ignore the not-so-good. I'm trying to look at the whole, and the whole is that Biden's administration has been flippy-floppy.
A repeat comment (apologies, sincerely). I will never understand why the majority of Jewish Americans vote Democrat. Of course, it has become quite clear that we really have two arms (R and D) of the same party, so perhaps it seems the majority of Jewish Americans are Libs. Most Conservatives I know (and I count myself among them) are adamantly pro-Israel.
No way Israel agrees to a “ Palestinian State.” It is almost suicidal and left or right Israeli politics will never surrender to terror. Gaza was to be the beginning and it became a terrorist state: West Bank the same except if economic pressure on Ramallah can hold off Hamas.
One more thing: wouldn't cutting military aid to Israel make our military-industrial complex plenty angry? That's where all the money is spent, after all (or most of it). Won't they be pressuring Biden to continue that aid?
Good point!
Just wanted to note that, when in office, Trump had been very anti-muslim. Wouldn't that hurt him in Michigan?
In the meantime, Biden had to go to hoops to send Israel what they need as the GOP house refuse to do so as they only want to play politics, the proud Boys and Trump supports each other and the GOP so who is the party of antisemitism?

Just start pulling our military out of Qatar and they’ll start turning on Hamas. Remember when the Saudis turned on them ? They came around.
If Biden was as strong as some purport him to be, he would leverage his power to get the Qataris to give up the remaining hostages and exile Hamas.
Exactly.

One should be able to factually critique a president without a platform becoming right or left wing.
Of course. And criticism should be based on facts. So far I am enjoying your articles.

"the biggest supporter Israel has ever had" — hyperbole won't change my stance.
