It is not with disdain that the “progressives “ look upon Israel, it is with Jealousy and envy. I heard an interesting story that I did not know before. In 1935 Germany, over 200 academics, lawyers and businessmen drafted a letter to Hitler outlining all the amazing things and achievements that the Jews had done for Germany. Obviously, it held no sway. We have been going about it the wrong way for years, myself included. How many times have I written about Israel’s many accomplishments and contributions to our world. It never seems to work and only perpetuates the animosity towards us. We have risen from the ashes time and time again, flowering, expanding, and contributing continually to the world. Instead of being admired, we are looked upon with insatiable coveting.Israel is in a very dangerous neighborhood and it will have to decide now which direction it will take moving forward.

Yes, they draw the wrong lessons from the past. Some Europeans never came out of the first world war, which they then continued, until their demise, and ruining others in the process.

Your analysis is interesting. However, you left out the fact that the Israeli right, including Netanyahu, and especially Smotrich and Ben-Gvir have the same mentality as the "Arabs" who you decry. Netanyahu's father can certainly be cited for his racism. Hamas and Palestinians have fed on the racism of the settlers and the increase of settlements.

That seems unlikely, Smotrich influencing Palestinians to the extent that they are now finally ready to murder...Smotrich is a baby, and so is Ben Gvir, youngish, and unable to articulate legitimate claims under the glare of the entire world. This has always been the challenge for Jews. Those pols are failures, the kind one finds in political life over and again. But your use of the word racism sounds very American, a projection conveniently landing on those dwarfs, smaller than the country they are lucky to call theirs. But what does Netanyahu's father have to do with anything? This is not serious. And Netanyahu might not be able to sort out one election too far, but he has been anything but a political failure. Yes, we've heard that Zionism is racism - this seems to be the libel you're spreading, unwittingly or not. Better that Jews not be cornered into the corner of virtue and perfection, of meeting the credentials liberals impose outside their country (and cities) while failing to meet them at home. Hm. I feel better now.
