It is unfathomable that one of the worst hostage situations in modern history has become just another subplot during the Israel-Hamas war, but this is exactly what has happened.
I appreciate your perspectives and I enjoy your writing. I also like that you use numbered references to your sources. But please use complete citations that include the author name, and the date of the publication. Where possible use the page number. For web site references please use the full URI (with a hyperlink if possible) and the access date. These are standard practices in academic writing that make fact checking easy and add credibility.
The world is ignoring unprecedented cruelty. As the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists act, no terrorist organization, or even the mafia, acts. This is what sociopathic maniacs do because it is important to cause pain to as many victims as possible, their loved ones. They deliberately torture their victims, they hide the condition of the victims, they sell bodies and body parts. They kill hostages after much torture and blame the victims of violence. And the most incredible thing is that they do not deny it. They flaunt it and say they will continue to do so.
How sick, perverted and obsessive the world must be if there are huge groups of people in it supporting these terrible creatures. If there are people who are ready to justify horrors that only a sick brain can come up with.
Every day I see dozens of posts and tweets that write obvious lies, broadcast hatred and do this in some kind of hysterical mental attack, when it is impossible to communicate with a person due to the obsessive repetition of some mantra and the inability to hear objections. It's like a sociopathy virus.
“Then there are those who want to talk about ‘proportionality’ and ‘international law’ and ‘genocide’ and all these other terms, even though the people who hashtag and throw them around, while attacking Israel, have no inkling of what they actually mean.”
This quote from your piece explains why the hostages are overlooked. We can discuss bombing Dresden and civilian casualties from all angles, but hostage-taking is *only* done by bad guys. There’s no semantic wordplay. Iran. Putin. Venezuela. Pirates. Good guys don’t take hostages. Ever. The fact that Hamas has hostages is evidence of the bad guys they are.
Hostages aren’t “resistance.” Hostage taking is pathetic and cruel manipulation of the best part of humanity. No one with any integrity takes hostages.
Just using the word hostage to describe Hamas’ wrongdoing leaves little room for misunderstanding.

Excellent piece. Thank you for laying it out so succinctly! Every point was spot on.

That’s why it can’t be discussed.
