Start by saying, the essay was extremely informative. There were many things that I did not know and many things I will forget by tomorrow but one item really elevated my blood pressure. The fact that UNIFIL and its 10,000 are in Lebanon currently. What they hell are they doing? What have they accomplished? Their whole reason for being there after the war was to maintain peace and to ensure that the Lebanese government was in control. Do they think firing missiles into another country as maintaining peace? Do they think that a terrorist organization is not controlling the Lebanese government? I understand they dont have the power to fight Hezbollah but they certainly can go back to the UN and tell the truth. They can say that Hezbollah is in control and they are starting a war with Israel by firing missiles. I mean the whole thing is a joke. Where is the outcry from UNIFIL? I just dont get it at all. Has it been raised in the UN? I didnt even know that UNIFIL was there and now that I do .... I am so freakin pissed! papa j

Andrew, thank you for the article. I wanted to point out that 2006 wasn't the first time Hezbollah carried out a cross border attack on Israel. In November 21 2005 Hezbollah tried the exact same thing in the border village of Rajar, nearly triggering that war several months early. Legacy media is trying its hardest, as usual, to paint Israel as some unhinged country attacking civilian houses for no reason, as if Hezbollah hasn't been hiding cruise missiles and heavy rockets in those houses (see all the secondary detonations at those strikes), as if Hezbollah hasn't openly prepared an invasion of northern Israel exactly like the Hamas October 7 2023 one, as if Hezbollah hasn't boasted of 180K rockets pointed at Israel, and as if Hezbollah hasn't started the previous war and committed illegal attacks on Israel for 24 years.
