Anyone who thinks Jews shouldn't have a nation should be sent to Gaza for a month.

It is an irony of history that, no sooner had Europe finally exerted itself to remove antisemitism from the public sphere in the decades after the Holocaust, it was reintroduced from Islamic countries. The "No one is illegal" photo illustrating the article is a reminder that the proponents of this view have no problem declaring the Jewish state illegal and, implicitly, those who support it.

From where I am (UK), I am pessimistic. it is true that Jews have a right to act in their own interests, but far too many diaspora Jews feel that only Jews have no right to do this, that Jews must always be acting in the interests of "the oppressed in general" and not "the Jewish oppressed in particular." The existence of groups like Jewish Voice for Peace are only the most extreme manifestations of this worldview; the "Judaism as tikkun olam" worldview of most non-Orthodox diaspora Jews (and some Orthodox Jews) are more typical. To many Jews, siding with conservatives on this issue (on any issue, but particularly this one) is unthinkable even if remaining with their heads in the sand until they are cut off is the only alternative.

I no longer consider it unthinkable. Oct. 7 changed me.

This was a great article. It articulates thoughts I have had for years.

Germany has recently added questions about Israel and Judaism in its citizenship test. This has come about because of violent anti-semitism from the Muslim immigrant community. The problem has been around since I was visiting Germany frequently on business in the 1980s and was largely ignored. Since Oct. 7, however, it has become to clear to even the most starry eyed Green party apparatchik. They can't claim to be living down their Nazi past by tolerating anti-semitic violence.

A country's first obligation is the protection of its citizens. Letting in large numbers of violently anti-semitic immigrants is an abdication of that responsibility. The United States has a responsibility to vet prospective immigrants for this.

Just an outstanding article Benjamin. I think you addressed the Jewish problem vis a vis immigration and what the outcome scenarios and options might be.

I agree completely with having a 10 year moratorium and maybe longer on immigration from Muslim countries. There must be one in place until we are truly able to discern between a Muslim who wants to integrate into our culture and an Islamist who does not.

I will say this, I have no doubt that if Harris wins the Presidency that the immigration problem will not be addressed, that anti semitism will rise to unbelievable heights and that Jews better pack their bags and get out.

Trump tried to do it and not only was he denounced as a horrible racist but American courts claimed it was illegal.

jerry kleiner's avatar

I remember Doug, you are right but can the immigration ceilings be lowered from certain countries? There must be a way to stop the insanity.

The thing is, I am terribly afraid that Trump will dismantle the constitution. He has no ideology. How could he? He's a narcissistic sociopath. I have no doubt about this. This time around he will surround himself with loyalists. I figure we will be able to vote Kamala out in four years; with Trump, that may not be an option.

The sad thing is that Jews always seem to be in the forefront when it comes to leftist policies. One wonders why.

The facts presented here are simultaneously absolutely true and unspeakable - or were until very recently. Oct7 as tragic as it was tipped many well-meaning (read liberally minded) people to discard niceties and revert to survival prerogatives ahead of moral vanity. Before stating these facts made you a RWNJ.

The behaviour of the left reminds me of a rebellious teen who is so determined to get back at the parents they engage in self-harm like drug use, tattoos and unsafe sex. This self destruction may well gat back at the parents but ultimately at the cost of self destruction. This is what they are doing to us, citizens of the Western world.

Great article! Trump was correct in banning immigration from such nations

I never understood why any Jew would choose to live in ANY European country after the Holocaust. Europe has always been the graveyard of Jewry. In the 1500s when Europe was forming into nation-states, the Jews there were still praying about returning to Jerusalem next year.

The exodus of Muslims into Europe now should be matched by a migration of European Jewry to Israel and America where their numbers and brains will be appreciated. There is no future for Jews in Europe.

Not true Miriam.

Just because our government doesn’t equate 9/11 with more danger from the influx of Arabs into OUR country, doesn’t mean we can’t fight back.

And don’t forget we have millions of Evangelicals in our corner. Yes they do say a lot of things you don’t agree with, but they are our allies both Israel’s and ours. Google CHRISTIANS UNITED FOR ISRAEL.(CUFI). You will be heartened. We must support them. Never give in the noisy group of haters.

Great article.

Conservative Jews saw the writing on the wall since Obama. He sat in a church for 20 years listening to Rev Wright spew hate for the Jews, Israel and America and the left still voted for him. He proved himself again to be a Jew hater by inviting the Muslim Brotherhood to the White House and sending a billion dollars in cash to Iran.

While we're on the subject of immigrants, I'd like to see very strict restrictions on foreign building here; there should be NO foreign contributions to our universities; and of course we should be manufacturing as much as possible HERE.

There is no place where muslims live in peace and harmony with others. Allowing massive muslim immigration is suicidal. There should be a complete ban on muslim immigration not just a moratorium. Most already here should be deported. Jews who stand with the open borders crowd are out of their minds. It is completely crazy to think our sympathies should lie with the immigrants rather than native so-called "right wing" population. Anyone who still thinks we are more endangered with the tiny, marginalized and politically and economically powerless neo-nazi movement is completely out-of-touch with reality and out of time. Also, many "far-right" parties in the west are falsely labeled as such and ironically are actually pro-Israel and stand with the Jews, take Geert Wilders for example or Hungary's president Orban. Jewish liberals need to wake the hell up.

I dont think there is anything positive to the notion that 40 percent of American Muslims think mass slaughter and rape was not justified. Perhaps they still hate Jews but think this went too far. A large majority of AMERICAN Muslims think mass slaughter and rape is a good thing if the victims are Israelis. Anyone who thinks this and is an immigrants doesn't belong here. There is little to no chance any of the solutions proposed will take place either here or in Western Europe. The only question is what form the inevitable backlash will take. It will probably be violent.

Good Piece! To let everyone reading this know, most of the more extreme scenarios you outline here ARE ALREADY CURRENT DISCUSSION AND THINKING in The State, both here in Britain and in The West: All monitored and on the record, and with both the Authorities and The Police here in The UK. GREENPOINT is the Far Right's illegal plan for Mass Expulsions. If Trump is Elected in the US in four weeks time, it has become the plan for legal Deportation and Expulsion Camps to be built in Texas, for the removal of between eight and ten million people who have entered the US illegally. Here in the UK it is predicted that the Fascist Reform party will take more than 1/3 of the popular vote in five years time, and politics here will follow the Trump model between now and then anyway. This is 'Managerial Fascism', that is to say Deportation 'By the stroke of the Civil Service pen'. BUT THE DANGERS ARE MUCH GREATER THAN THIS: The English-Speaking World is now threatened by Re-Emergent Nazism which has been exported culturally by Nazi Elements in Germany. It took root in MI6 and at one stage even threatened The USA. In Europe, The Nazi Party has been Re-formed by these people at high levels of The State. They are using the Demographic fears of the general population and doing so quite openly. Demographics is one of the non-negotiables: Fear of being outnumbered is both real and entirely LEGITIMATE. But the Nazism these fears enables is NOT legitimate, So that sorting Demographic concerns should forestall Nazism and Genocide, because of the Horrors of Nazism (The End and the Destruction of all our civil Liberties and the Mass-Murder of 50 Million people last time around) are plain for all to see. Demographics is sortable without Mass Murder and Nazism. And it is happening Right now. So I repeat this here once again: The Jewish People's place is ISRAEL now. Am Chai.
