Israel's new "global strategy" must be in accordance with Moshe Dayan's quote "Israel must be like a mad dog; too crazy to threaten".
Israel will never be loved. It must be feared. It must make clear - either publicly or through back channels - that she will use her nuclear arsenal to take the world down with it if destroyed.
Nothing else will ultimately work, and even that may not, as millions of people, and not just Palestinians, hate Jews more than they love life.
I've always said that if the world can't accept one Jewish nation then it doesn't deserve to exist .....so as hyperbolic as it may seem.....a war in which Israel is really threatened will be vastly more dangerous to humanity.
Sorry to say that fifty years ago at a State University of NY that was about 50% Jewish, there was no "automatic" association with Israel. A lot of indifference and on top of that the trotskyites and maoists were virulently anti Zionist...just as today. A small core group of frat type pro Israel kids. As for today....Gal Gadot may be a international star but unlike Daliah Lavi she's under attack at all venues. I expect the Olympics to keep telling the audience about "Israeli genocide" as the Israel bobsled takes the stage. I suspect that any and all Israeli related cultural events will be attacked not just by the pink haired but as today by the ellite A list of actors and playwrights and screenwriters with calls for boycott even if the Israeli artist is leftist and anti Netanyahu and questions the conduct of the war. Makes no difference. She is forever tainted. The "people of Israel Live" needs to be on a banner where Israel plays or this man plays and not just inscribed on the heal of white basketball sneakers. Much as he means well.
The is one reason why those who hate Israel and Jews want desperately to cancel Israel when it comes to participation in sporting events, even when Israelis or Jews are not actively involved. Best illustration of this is the cancellation of the Israeli Premier Tech bicycle racing team, comprised entirely of non Jews and European, Australian, American, and British cyclists, save for one Israeli domestique. Despite racing for several years in the major grand tours, there were massive protests and race disruptions of last year's Vuelta E Spana, in protest of the presence of a team not even sponsored by Israel, not comprised of Israelis, but wearing Jerseys that said Israel and had the Star of David. After this race the team was forced to disband as sponsors dropped out and other teams refused to race if IPT also raced.
Knowing that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) can and has exerted economic influence on the NBA and that the CCP is essentially anti-Israel -- seeing Israel from a Cold War lens as an extension of the USA -- I was curious what its position on this athlete might be, so I asked AI.
To be a bit more precise, the CCP "maintains a complex position that is rhetorically and diplomatically pro-Palestine while remaining economically pragmatic toward Israel."
AI's response indicates that Deni Avdija has thus far managed to stay below the political radar, but they also allow online criticism of him as a way to criticize Israel. Keep in mind that they are very censorious and can shut down online debate if they want to.
"Chinese state media has largely avoided direct official commentary regarding Israeli NBA star Deni Avdija's political views. Instead, the relationship is characterized by a "strategic silence" . . .
"Unlike the high-profile 2019 fallout over Daryl Morey’s Hong Kong comments, state media has not launched a campaign against Avdija, despite his public pride in his Israeli identity and his past service in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
"Despite the CCP's critical diplomatic stance toward Israel, Avdija has actively courted the Chinese market. In late 2025, he held a live session on the Chinese platform Kuaishou to engage directly with fans and solicit All-Star votes . . . Avdija even learned Mandarin phrases to better communicate with fans and his teammate Yang Hansen, indicating a business-first approach that has been permitted by Chinese regulators.
"Avdija's historic 2026 selection as the first Israeli NBA All-Star created a delicate situation for Chinese platforms. While the state remained silent, Chinese social media (Weibo) saw a surge in criticism from users who linked him to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
"When Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly congratulated Avdija, it intensified international online scrutiny. Chinese censors generally allow these critical discussions to persist, as they align with the CCP's broader diplomatic support for the Palestinian cause."
My Jewish friends, be unaplogetic in who you are and stand tall like this NBA player. Jewish enemies are looking for weakness and don't EVER show it. Being quiet and reticent will not work. Be bold and stand together.
I was somewhat dismayed by the fawning accolade of the author of this post. Okay, the athlete has achieved some prominence, and is proud to be Israeli, as evidenced by the inscription (which nobody can easily notice) on his sneakers. But to consider that this will in any way diminish the anti-Jewish sentiment in the world is far-tetched. I, for one, did not feel any better about Blacks when Michael Jordan was pre-eminent. On the other hand, I would feel much better about Jews in general, and Israelis in particular, if we all gave up the idea of apologizing and portraying ourselves as victims (to note the embarrassing Super Bowl ad paid with very good money), Allow Israel to devastate her enemies and, if you're a Jew, be totally unapologetic. The world, in some measure, will continue to hate us, but so what? We have, and will continue to survive, if we keep the faith.

Spike wearing a jacket at that game signifying his support for Palestine was prominently displayed by the media. Jew hatred keeps going.
He’s playing for and in Portland? That’s a miracle in itself! I hope he has good security.

The success of Deni Avdija can only be described as a slam dunk for Hasbara and Israel.
Whether it makes a difference in the long term is hard to predict.

That is if Israelis are allowed to participate in global competitions. Or participate on condition that they renounce their own nation.
