This is why books and paper documents are crucial to history: they can't be altered.

Absolutely. And War records too, in their original form, so truth can be trusted.

General Ike made sure that film and pictures were taken of what the troops found because he said that one day people would say all this never happened. Even with that the Holocaust deniers STILL say it never happened. I remember in "Band of Brothers" where the 506th PIR troops were absolutely shocked at what THEY found and Major Winters spoke later of what HE saw.

You forget to say that some AI-generated facts are simply plain wrong. I have many examples of this. Also, the security of primary sources remains strong: I am thinking of the intermediate and large well-known institutions, for example The Smithsonian, The British Library and Yad Vashem who protect these, particularly against malicious falsifiers of History and Science, and continue to be well funded. There will always be a need and high financial value for the facts, and the institutions who guard them. And giving this fact high prominence will eventually re-fund these institutions.

So that the Holocaust/Shoah aren't forgotten it is incumbent upon Jews and others like myself to keep the reality of what happened front and center at every opportunity, The picture attached at the top of this article are hardly the faces of those in the concentration or death camps. I get people online who say the concentration camps weren't death camps forgetting the multitude who died there from malnutrition and overwork. Mittelbau-Dora and Nordhausen weren't death camps per se but those who died there would find this comparison ludicrous.

AI is also rewriting the history of modern Israel, adding a pro-Palestinian spin. I found myself debating Gemeni AI the other day, as it refuted the actual history of the 1948 war and added a pro-Palestinian spin to it, telling me, for example, that the "Nakba" was not the result of Arab military leaders advising them to leave. And yet I know it was from histories that predate the "new historians." I'm pretty sure I'm right about this. These "new historians" that AI relies on have an anti-Israel slant. It does this while trying to sound neutral and balanced. It also refuted the fact that the KBG was instrumental in creating the idea of modern Palestine, in conjunction with the PLO, in order to destroy Israel. I just tried it again and it did the same thing:

I asked, "Were the KGB and PLO instrumental in coming up with the idea of modern Palestine as an Arab Islamic state, and was this done in order to defeat Israel and as part of the Cold War?"

Gemeni's answer: "Allegations that the KGB and the PLO conspired to "invent" the modern idea of Palestine are not supported by mainstream historical analysis, though the Soviet Union did use its relationship with the PLO for Cold War purposes. The Palestinian nationalist movement has historical roots extending back to the late Ottoman period."

That last sentence is debatable. It reminds me a lot of how so-called "fact checkers" lectured us during 2020-22, telling us things that were true were false and things that were false were true. It did this condescendingly, too. Some "fact-checkers" later conceded they were wrong -- after the damage was done. They had served their purpose for Big Pharma, and others who profited from the shift in power and wealth made possible by the lockdowns and mandates.

Cleverly, Gemeni further down concedes that "While the KGB did not "invent' the Palestinian identity, it saw the potential to use the Palestinian cause to advance its interests. Soviet and Romanian intelligence services provided support, training, and funding to the PLO and other militant groups from the late 1960s onward. The PLO became a proxy in the Cold War, and the Soviets used propaganda to frame the struggle as a fight against "imperialist" Israel and the West. In 1974, a PLO embassy opened in Moscow. The Soviets aimed to cultivate anti-Western and anti-Zionist sentiment in the Arab world. Some former Soviet bloc intelligence officials have stated that the goal was to use the Palestinian movement for disinformation and to foster animosity toward the U.S. and Israel."

Notice that my initial question was asking if the KGB and PLO were instrumental in coming up with the idea of *modern* Palestine as an Arab Islamic state, and Gemeni all but concedes this further in the text, but insists that Palestinian national identity predated that. BUT we all know that "Palestine" was the name of a region, a name assigned by the Romans initially, and later adopted by the British between the wars. The idea of Palestine as an Arab Islamic state did not exist then. Jews had Palestinian passports between the wars. So the idea of Palestine in the modern sense was indeed developed later on to defeat Israel, whether or not a few anti-Zionist Arabs had thought of the idea before. Even then, it was clearly devised to defeat Israel and Jews. Gemeni says it goes back to the late Ottoman period -- does it mean when Zionists started their movement in the 19th century?

The idea of Palestinian statehood for Arabs never had any other purpose than to gain power over Jews and claim the land of Israel. It is not a real nation or a legitimate national identity. There is no legitimate Palestinian cause; the entire cause is to destroy Israel and kill Jews. Gemeni cannot concede that, even though it's true.

Gemeni is getting a lot of information from the pseudo-Marxist "new" historians like Ilan Pappé, or Benny Morris, whose early work was quoted -- although Gemeni conceded that Morris changed his views after the Second Intifada. It's amazing how being under fire or knowing someone who is will shift your perspective. AI has a harmful Leftist bias, in my opinion. I felt like I was debating a young, sophomoric ideologue who can instantly spew hundreds of words at you, constantly correcting you. Just because the preponderance of scholarly material leans in one direction does not make it truthful.

Wikipedia is reported in this article as a reliable source. In fact, groups of online editors have been conspiring to change Wikipedia entries on Israel, Zionism, the war of independence, thr Arab Israeli conflict, the Palestinian, national movement, etc.

All of these entries can now be considered tainted, distorted and biased. Therefore Wikipedia, which does have a huge number of hits online and is usually the top Finding on any search is useless in many politically charged areas. Unless the editing system is modified, one would assume that other groups and bots may do more damage to the reliability of the source.

Dave, Joshua doesn’t actually report that Wikipedia is a reliable source, he simply states that, “…Wikipedia is the fourth-most visited website in the world; its content informs everything from YouTube videos and Amazon Alexa (a virtual assistant technology), to journalism and legal research.”

And that this is so regardless of concerns over “…whether Wikipedia would ever be accurate enough to be considered reliable history, or tackle the harder intellectual questions that historians felt they tackled.”

One might infer that it was considered ‘reliable’ because of such widespread use, but the point made repeatedly in the article is that, with what I believe will prove tragic results, ‘accuracy’ and ‘truth’ is very often trumped by other considerations.

God help us all!

Bloodcurdling great article.

I had similar experiences with Gemini as accurately relayed by ThinkYourself in the comments.

I reached the conclusion that their database is rigged, incomplete, driven by Islamic and often Christian apologetics, but what is worse, it assumes a self- righteous patronising persona that scolds the inquirer and critics their very questioning. Suppressing or ridiculing questions is a bonafide tool of totalitarianism.

O, I wish Orwell were alive, and he could write a new 1984 based on the deceptive world we are being drowned by. His description of History changing daily, which sounded like an exaggerated science-fiction liberty back then, unfolds literally under our eyes.

I believe Gemini should be sued. There is malice and tortuous deception at worst, and harmful negligence at best. Other AI platforms evidence lesser evils.

Another measure that can be taken is “ fighting fire with fire”, building better, responsible , facts based information sources and massively spreading them . Truthful counter-information.

For example, there are historic records on the internet that spell the KGB’s machinations and their establishment of the PLO’s charter and terrorist mission. One of the best known is by a former KGB agent who actually was there.

But these records don’t figure in the Gemini database. A similar black hole occurs with the vast availability of Christian scholarship. Gemini only knows the New Testament and Christian apologetics.

Regarding the cesspool that is Wikipaedia, I recommended to various major Jewish organisations to form paid groups- college students would bless the opportunity- to edit Wikipaedia. It would be a constant push-and-pull, with the Jew-hating and anti-Zionist dedicated crowd re-editing back their mendacious claims , a veritable war, which is already waged against us, but at least it can be done. I wasn’t able to convince these wealthy Jewish organisations to launch an initiative, though. Perhaps they don’t understand the danger of the minds of the world becoming soft clay shaped for a future “ one world government “ where the West, devoid of its moral and freedom conscious ideals, joins the vast majority of a planet governed by totalitarian regimes.

Nazism succeeded for many reasons, but a prominent one was its successful, deftly engineered propaganda. When I hear Mamdani mourn his one million Muslims not being yet prominent enough or his aunt fearing to wear a hijab after 9/11, oblivious to the trauma inflicted on the American psyche by an Islam inspired unprecedented terrorist attack, an American solidarity and identity he is insensitive to, and the clapping by the braindead who voted for him reaches deafening decibels , I know that Goebbels lives.

Fight it all you can, but reality is that the Holocaust will be increasingly irrelevant and forgotten as times move on.

How many today talk about the horrors of the Napoleonic Wars, or the civilian victims of the Seven year war?

Jews would do well to find another foundational myth.

The peculiar part is that this maladaption is particularly prevalent in American Jews who for the most part had little skin in the game.
