“We should feel bad for everybody. All the families. All the children.” Excuse me Whoopi?!?! If that’s not an “All Lives Matter” comment I don’t know what is!!!! Is there no limit to idiotic hypocrisy in this world?!?!? Asking for a friend. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Karen Johnson’s satiric stage name is itself born of an antisemitic trope. Acting skill is no substitute for intelligence, clearly.

It's been rumored that her mother thought the name Johnson wasn't "Jewish enough" for Goldberg to make it big, but that's not been confirmed.

Yes, that is what the response to Whoopi Clod Goldberg should have been from the other hosts who didn’t have the guts, interest or decency to do so.

Bravo. So well expressed.

Whoopi Goldberg is a disgrace. A miserable human. She's not even funny anymore. Or just in her brutish, dehumanised way. She's particularly savage as she is aging badly.

Whitewashing Nazis by making everything the same also shows her basic lack of decency, masked in idiotic self-righteousness.

"Before Sara could even sit with the enormity of what had happened, the show’s co-host Whoopi Goldberg shut the conversation down. Not gently. Not thoughtfully. With the sort of dismissive, curmudgeonly impatience that had become all too familiar throughout the war.

“We should feel bad for everybody,” she snapped. “All the families. All the children.” "

Perhaps Whoopi might have had a better understanding if Sara had responded, "So all lives matter, Whoopi, just like in 2020, am I right?"

Sara should have stood up and said how dare you. And walked off the set. That would have been a moment.

When the Democrats paint Jews as Nazis, then it makes sense that they offer no empathy for dead Israelis, any more than we mourned the death of actual Nazis at the end of WWII.

For too long, Jews have not fought back enough on that characterization, which seems to paint Jews as sub-human, war criminals.

Israel needs a much better propaganda and PR apparatus, capable of counting the negative onslaught of social-media disinformation.

In the United States, fake Jews need to stop performative siding against Israel to gather acceptance in various affinity groups. In the end, those Jews will still be ostracized from society, betrayed by their genetics/family tree.

No better than Kapos are they. Sell outs.

Our blood is cheap to the kapo- and nazis. I am disgusted with all who turn against ISRAEL.

The time has come to teach but one lesson to those wishing us to 'take a knee', submit to dragged out torture and experimentations unimaginable. We do not have to go about explaining our right to exist to barbaric fools on the march... the Orcs serving their master hypnotized by greed and coveting whilst chohma v'binah they can NEVER have! No antisemite should enter JEWISH land. I have lived my life between two Holocausts and am old enough to be done with mortal enemies. If the countries that brought us to the ovens, if my kin slaughtered at Babi Yar have voice only through me, so be it.

One lesson will get through the blockheads who hate us....

'never mess with THE JEWS"

Yes we mourn and ...cursed be the enemies who have sullied the rest of the world with their foul atrocities. I WILL NEVER FORGIVE. ZACHOR.

Whoopi’s comment is the same as replying “all lives matter” to someone proclaiming “black lives matter” after a tragic death in that community.

Liora Jacob's avatar

That would have been a perfect response

Her comments are what I would expect from the left leaning community of color. We were all expected to “do the work” and were shamed and vilified for our “micro-aggressions” in my case that included a preference for organic food, and misspelling Muslim for Moslem. Yea, looks like “the work” mattered only when we was workin’ for them. And what’s with her coopting the Jewish name “Goldberg”? Shall we discuss cultural appropriation, another left wing scold?

As far as Whoopi Goldberg goes, diluting and even worse erasing Jewish suffering in order to put the spotlight on people she believes is more deserving-the Palestinians-- is antisemitism, full stop.

Outstanding essay.

I have to give Whoopi credit for one positive thing in my life, during the pandemic days , the View was on my T.V. Just because I was busy and I hadn't changed the channel. She started her give her vaccine speech, and that was it, I unplugged my T.V. and never turned it on again! I had a little bit of withdrawal ( from T.V., not from Whoopi). But I kept thinking about how peaceful it was at my grandparents house, ( they purposely had no T.V.). I love not having that "progaming" in the background any more. I read a lot more. But I have noticed many of the things I used to enjoy on substack are using IA too much, the articles are much longer, but I don't need to hear a point five different ways, please edit and I won't have to quit reading before the article is over. I really hate it when someone loses that passion to communicate and gives it up to IA.

It is not everybody. It is the left. It is the left that cannot even allow the slaughter of the Bibas family to be absorbed without the bullshit. And Whoopie Goldberg is a monster. A monster.

Until we collectively stand up to this “whataboutism” this atrocity will continue. The other side is so afraid of confronting barbarism, they will demand equal time for true evil.

In Canada, it is worse than just asking for empathy for the dead. The mainline churches other than Catholic, are Anglican, United, Lutheran and Presbyterian. All have had prayers for the "poor, innocent Gazans" while demonizing Israel for nearly three years. There has been total silence or scorn of the victims concerning the atrocities committed by Hamas, the rapes, and the torture and rapes that the hostages underwent. The "silent" majority in Canada, shows their hatred of Jews because with the huge increase of hate crimes against Jews, including shootings, arson, physical attacks, Jew hunts, canceling Jews in Medicine , Law, and the Arts, death threats and vandalism and destruction, they have remained stone silent or even have been joining in the demonization of Jews in Canada. Canadians have traditionally stood up for every other minority including Muslims, First Nations, Blacks, and the LGBTQ+ community, and would be screaming and marching in support of the minority undergoing what Jews are going through, as would the media but only a few Christians and the Evangelical community have stood up for Canadian Jews. The Hamas loving Liberal Party in power, and its Jew hating, Israel demonizing PM, Carney, have shown their support openly for Hamas, Hezbollah and even Iran and has signalled that they condone what is happening to the Jews. The CBC, like the BBC, is partly government funded and has been gifted by Carney with over a billion dollars, for their "good" work, which means daily spreading of conspiracy theories, outright lies, distortions, Hamas propaganda, and revisionist history in demonizing Israel, and supporting Hamas and Hezbollah. The mainline "acceptable" media's journalists are funded by the ruling Liberal Party as long as they demonize Israel and censor what is happening to Canadian Jews daily, while stressing Islamophobia, which is only 11% of religious hate crimes with a population of 2 million Muslims while hate crimes against Jews, numbering only 350 000, make up over 70% of religious hate crimes in Canada. and in Toronto with the largest population of Jews, it numbers 82% of religious hate crimes.

You tell it like it is. We would like to comfort ourselves that the majority of people are being silenced when institutions (media, government, academia) give the microphone to those who create controversy. People can make a stand every day if they really want to, individually and collectively.

thank you for this piece. so eloquent. so filled with love and empathy. maybe we should grieve for Whoopi who lives her life without empathy for others. lots of judgment. no understanding. so sad. i do not excuse her. i am glad that is not me.

Whoopi is filled with anger. her producers should retire her.

I feel numb after attempting to defend the need for a state of Israel for all Jewish people after what is being said after October 7th, and it's mainly Jewish people who are stopping me cold when I try to explain my feelings. They have more sympathy for the horrible murder of Palestinians than they have for the 1200 Israelis who were viciously and inhumanely slaughtered.

When so-called celebs who pretend to be Middle East experts expound on Israel, they should be queried on their understanding (i.e., misunderstanding) of the facts regarding the conflict. They probably won't change their opinion, but their lack of fundamental knowledge should be exposed and continue to be publicized.
