A serious question for those calling Jews “European colonizers”: What European flag were they planting? Colonies exist on behalf of an outside empire. Israel wasn’t founded as a colony of Britain, France, Germany, or any other European power. If there was no mother country, in what sense is it colonialism?
You're right. A tangent of your point is the foolish argument made by harrumphing morons, that European Jews aren't descendants of the Israelites. As if Judaism spontaneously appeared one day in Europe. The critics just don't think it through. They don't think, period.
Jews never had a country from which they could colonize other nations. Every colonizer did. It's the definition of colonialism. Arabs had Arabia. The British had Britain. And so on.
The Jews were never colonizers.
They were always immigrants.
The so -called " Palestinians"- the greatest hoax of the 20th century- were Jordanians until Jordan ceased to allow it in 1988. The whole of Jordan is " Palestine", and the vast majority of its people, unlike the ruling royalty, are " Palestinians". Until Israel returned to those lands in 1967, and until 1988, being Jordanian was just fine.
Those fraudulently and retroactively calling themselves " Palestinians" because they could no longer be Jordanians, are the ones trying unnaturally to roll back history. History passed them by in 1947, 1948 and 1967, and at every other opportunity they refused statehood, to this day.
The deep reason of all these mental illnesses is a refusal of Civilization. The West remained barbaric. Christianity's thin veneer did not change them. There was no real evolution. Things were imposed on them, brutal pagans and barbarians, with the charges of immense inborn guilt and the threat of Hell. Their minds were bent, but their instincts remained mired in their own evolutionary timetable. 2,000 years were not sufficient to tame the very old beast, not in any reasonable, historically plausible evolutionary timetable. Not to speak of thick Islamic barbarism, current to this day.
So there we are. Israel started and symbolizes this Civilization from which the Beast wants to regress. " Progress" as in " progressives" today claims the meaning of " regression". Dial back not only Israel, but all of Civilization. Regress. And when the chaos reaches a critical point, the totalitarianism of both Communism and Islam can take over. But Israel must be gone first, for this regression to take place.
Remember: the Chinese and the Hindus, for example, a huge multitude, have no problem with the Jews. Why? Because they evolved their own civilizations .Israel's morals were not imposed on them. Israel, a tiny nation, created these morals for themselves. Never meant to " colonize" other people'a minds, like Christianity and Islam so desperately tried to take Israel back in History with them. Israel itself struggled with the moral limitations, and the Prophets gave them hell, figuratively. Self incrimination is still a cherished Jewish passtime.
So where Israel goes, the West goes. If only the West cared.
oh no, you've got it wrong.....Erdogan tells us that Turkey is pure......it has never hurt anyone. never occupied anyone, never an aggressor.....The culprit is Israel. and that's me being satirical.
Thank you, Melissa, for stating what I have been thinking about colonization! Remember this saying: “the sun never sets on the British Empire”? Great Britain had colonized so much land throughout the earth that this was a literal statement.
The special thing about Israel is that God Himself promised the land to Abraham and his offspring as an eternal possession (Genesis 17:8). The promise was repeated to Isaac and to Jacob.
I believe this is why so many people are focused on that tiny sliver of land. These people hate God, and they hate God’s people. But God hasn’t forgotten His promise to Abraham, and this is why Israel exists today!
I live in Australia. We are still grappling with our history with the Aboriginal inhabitants of the land. Aboriginal and many (most I'd say) non-Aboriginal Australians want to see an honest reckoning with that tragic part of our history. Aboriginal communities today face greater social, health and economic challenges than non-Aboriginal communities; efforts to solve those challenges are ongoing and have mixed results. In these respects Australia is like the United States, Canada, New Zealand and other countries with origins in European colonization.
But even among the most strident and outspoken activists for Aboriginal causes, I do not hear anyone demanding the disestablishment of Australia (someone correct me if I'm wrong about that). I don't hear "debates" about Australia's "right to exist."
What we see, rightfully, are calls for a better deal for Aboriginal communities in terms of health, education, housing and economic outcomes. Not calls for the establishment of Australia to be undone.
There has never been as hollow a "cause" as that of Palestine. And it is also one of the most successful scams....because it involves the Jews. Put the Kurds in the 'grasp "of the Jews and there will be massive demonstrations for them. Let the malvinas be occupied by Israel....and there will be marches. Let caledonia be occupied by Israel.....and so on. Tibet?
“Antisemitism is always a means rather than an end. It is a measure of the contradictions yet to be resolved. It is a mirror for the failings of individuals, social structures and state systems. Tell me what you accuse the Jews of, I’ll tell you what you’re guilty of.”
It’s astonishing how many people are so ignorant about Israel 🇮🇱 and who they are and Whose They Are — the apple of Gods Eye‼️ Just as the Bible tells us, that the world will turn against Israel and it’s happening now. We are indeed in the midst of the last days❣️Nevertheless we will continue to Stand With You Israel and all the Jewish people worldwide‼️🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱AMEN and HALLELUJAH AMEN‼️ MARANATHA‼️🙏❤️✝️💖😻
The hypocrisy is so staggering that your article, (understandably), almost runs out of steam at the very end, trying to put it into words. Nonetheless, this is an extremely helpful summary of historical colonialism throughout the world, and the way the world uses its own 'colonial guilt' as a weapon against Israel. I shall keep it as a reference.
You talk about "ancestral atrocities" but dodge the legitimacy question that's actually on the table today: Israel is one of the only countries in the world that hasn't even ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention (it signed in 1993 and stopped there), and it's the only undeclared nuclear power in the Middle East, voting alongside the US as the sole holdouts against UN resolutions calling for a nuclear-free zone in the region. All of this backed by an arsenal largely funded through US military aid and shielded by America's automatic veto at the Security Council — protection no other state in your article enjoys today. So before talking about millennia-old indigeneity, let's talk about why the country most resistant to disarmament treaties is also the one demanding the most immunity from criticism.
Hmm…. Please detail all the times this supposedly nuclear armed state has threatened to vaporize other non-threatening countries with those nuclear weapons.
Attributed quotes with dates, please.
Considering world history (obviously not your strong point) and an “international community” comprised mostly of Jew hating thugocracies and those who fear them, a strong Jewish state which can defend itself is a necessity.
US military aid constitutes a fraction of Israel’s current military budget, and the “aid” is a voucher to be spent wholly at US defense firms, designed originally to 1) hamstring Israel’s homegrown defense industry and 2) provide the US with undue influence over Israeli military decisions. It is currently being phased out, to the dismay of those defense firms. But…. how will the regressive left and woke Reich continue to blame the Jews? Don’t worry, they’ll think of something. They always do.
You're changing the subject because you can't answer the point I actually made. I never claimed Israel has threatened to use nuclear weapons. I pointed out that Israel is widely understood to possess an undeclared nuclear arsenal while remaining outside the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and that it signed but never ratified the Chemical Weapons Convention. Those are matters of public record. Israel also remains the largest cumulative recipient of US foreign assistance since World War II, with tens of billions of dollars committed under long-term military agreements and additional emergency funding approved after October 2023. Whether you believe that support is justified is a political opinion; the scale of that support is a documented fact. As for "woke Reich", that is simply a slogan designed to avoid engaging with criticism. I'm not part of the progressive left, I don't support Hamas, and I don't support Islam either. Criticising the actions of the Israeli government does not make someone "woke".
The historical argument is also more complex than "a people simply returning to their original country". The modern Zionist movement emerged in 19th-century Europe as a political nationalist movement. The Jewish communities that migrated to Palestine came from many different regions, and the biggest part aren’t even semitics. There were even debates within early Zionism about alternative territorial projects, such as the 1903 Uganda Scheme, which shows that the movement was simply part of the Jewish Zionism in Europe. The estimated percentage of Jews in the region in the 19th century was merely 4%. What took place was a full-blown, illegitimate occupation by Jewish settlers, beginning with the rise of this nationalism.
A serious question for those calling Jews “European colonizers”: What European flag were they planting? Colonies exist on behalf of an outside empire. Israel wasn’t founded as a colony of Britain, France, Germany, or any other European power. If there was no mother country, in what sense is it colonialism?

Since when have Jew haters cared one whit for such niceties as history, facts, reality and truth? Never have and never will.
Good point James.
Too bad History is so badly taught in our educational systems throughout the entire planet!! But we will prevail!!!!!! Am Yisrael Chai!
Jews never had a country from which they could colonize other nations. Every colonizer did. It's the definition of colonialism. Arabs had Arabia. The British had Britain. And so on.

"Almost every single modern border on Earth was drawn with a sword and cemented in blood."
Yeah, almost. The Levant's borders were drawn instead with tea, crumpets, and baguettes.
Fuck the Brits, and fuck the French. That's me being polite.
Kol Hakavod, excellent research and timeline.
