Jeremy Ben Ami and his execrable organization J Street are only marginally better than JVP. He is not a Zionist and he is not a supporter of Israel. He is a hard leftist Democrat who has done more to hurt the formerly bipartisan AIPAC and to turn the Democratic Party against Israel than any other Jew in the world. He couldn't care less about the safety of the Israeli people or Jews in the diaspora. He should have no place at the table in any discussion about Israel or world Jewry.

You correctly note that the vast majority of the Democratic Party has turned hard against Israel but then throw in "along with a growing number of Republicans." This isn't the case. Virtually every nationally elected Republican remains strongly pro Israel. The faction that isn't is small and powerless. For now. It doesnt mean they shouldn't be watched. But it is simply false to compare the two parties at this time. There is literally one Democrat I know of that has true moral clarity and fearless strength of character. We all know who that is. American Jews had better wake up. The Democrats including Charles Schumer are rallying behind an actual Nazi lover in Main and a virulent anti-semite in Michigan.

So thankful you corrected the record. By "growing number of republicans" is actually a reference to a handful of loud, vile influencers spewing antisemitic lies on a daily basis. I submit they are not making antisemites out of otherwise tolerant people, but rather drawing people inclined to dislike Jews already. So far the republican party on the whole lends strong support to the State of Israel and to Jews.

And one of the most notable and noxious of the "Conservative anti-Semites," Nick Fuentes, has come out as a Democrat.

Maybe none of them were really republicans.

Thank you. Spot on!

I’m afraid for you also. However, down here in the South we seem to be pretty safe and welcome. We have an American flag and Israeli flag on our house and only positive comments. Every time I talk to friends in Ny, London, Paris and Italy I get the same story. It’s all of our fight but I have to admit I feel pretty safe down here right now but not so much when I travel. And honestly even during war I found Israel to be safe even though we were in shelters some. But wear a kippah or Star of David in Ny and you will not feel as safe as Tel Aviv even now.

The only question that requires an answer is this: If the world allows Israel to be overtaken, what do you think they will do with Israeli's? Where would they go? The answer is nowhere. They would be murdered, as would all the rest of us. Israel is the glue that makes our existence in the diaspora possible. Does any sentient Jew think for one minute that Israel is the problem? Not the immediate revelation, post 10/7, that we are NOT an integral part of the American and global tapestry? Denigrating Israel, capitulating to the mob is the most direct route to sealing our fate.

I completely agree. I actually can’t believe that there are still American Jews that are that obtuse, it baffles my mind. I am a Canadian/Montreal Jew and we do have an incredibly diverse (Sephardic/Mizrachi/Ashkenazie) community. It’s terrible here, yet almost every Jew here, especially the younger generation have openly embraced their Judaism because they know what is coming. There is no separation between Judaism and Israel. End of story. The sooner you admit this, the stronger your chances and community will be.

Israel will NEVER be overtaken.

Yes, but think of the NYC Jewish intellectuals. They will finally be able to go on interviews and to fancy UWS dinner parties and will no longer have to answer for, defend or be associated with a Jewish state. This will be worth more to them than millions of dead Jews, a chance to pose and pontificate in peace. The easy sleep of Tom Friedman etc is much more valuable than any ancient homeland ;)

Jews need to stop voting for leftist Israel haters just because they are Democrats. The Democrat party has been taken over by its most radical members. Jews in New York voted for Mamdani and now you have the debacle described in the article. New York Jews cannot practice their God given Constitutional right to self defense and the governments of Mamdani and Hochul let Jew haters, murderers, illegal alien felons and drug dealers go free. Elections have consequences. And while there are far fewer Jews in the South than on the East or West Coast, the Southern states still look more like America than Europe. And kapos like Ben Ami should be excommunicated, not given equal time. We are our own worst enemy and that is what is most frightening!

J Street is a Trojan horse. They are leftists and fake Jews and they really want Israel to be destroyed and there’s no compromise with them. I wouldn’t even want to be in the same room with one of those execrable people. There is no common ground between them and us.

There is only one home for Jews, and that’s Israel. If there was no Israel today, we Jews would literally be in mortal danger, again. October 7th was a wake up call, one we need to heed very carefully. Islam’s mission is to take over the West, and they are succeeding. I’m a British Jew living in NYC, what’s happening here now is exactly the same playbook that’s going on in the UK. It’s their strategy. Infiltrate every industry, politics, medicine, academia, you name it, and grow their presence. That’s how they take over. We Jews, at least, have somewhere to go. Christians and other non-Muslims will soon wake up to the fact they have nowhere to go. I tell my kids over and over again- and they are not Zionists- that Israel is the only place they will be able to live as Jews. The penny hasn’t dropped yet, but I’m going to keep saying it until they wake up. What’s happening today is just the beginning, God knows how it’s going to turn out but I know one thing, we Jews cannot rely on anyone to help us, except Israel!

Where I live in North London, a very Jewish area, the antisemitic Green party is the second largest following May 7 elections in the UK. This is very scary indeed, very close to home now.

And Polanski is a self-hating Jew from a very Zionist family!

The solution isn't relying on either political party in the US to make you safe. The solution is yourself and other Jews. Learn real world self-defense techniques. Arm yourselves and become proficient with your weapons. Learn home security measures. Form security groups in your neighborhoods. Find those that are truly your allies. Be like Israel. Fight back.

Jane Stuart's avatar

Yes, please do all of that. I am not Jewish but I do want all Jews protected and if that requires measures listed above, then so be it.

Nice article and well crafted.

Here’s a joke I heard

A Zionist Jew and an Anti-Zionist Jew walk into a bar together. The bartender says “we don’t serve Jews in here”

A joke. Not funny.

It makes an important point that the anti-Zionist Jews miss.

Yes, very frightening, even in our small town, and very sad. At the same time, there is still the support of many Christians in the US and elsewhere, and also of most Hindus in India and elsewhere. One thing to do is to strengthen these alliances and espouse the cause of Christians and Hindus who are persecuted and vilified by Islamists e.g. in Nigeria and Bangladesh/Pakistan respectively. https://ruthvanita452091.substack.com/p/recurrent-nightmares-and-strong-alliances

Mandami is not going to tell his Islamist muscle to cool it. There are still more Jews than Muslims in NYC, yet they control the streets even before Mandami came into power. It's a failure. They see us as nebbishes and half of NYC Jews are probably J street lefties.

I’m in Florida and agree completely about the safety of red states. The difference, primarily, is that red states support and empower law enforcement, while blue states neuter theirs. Shortly after 10/7, some freaks for Palestine tried to stop traffic on a highway near Orlando. It took 11 minutes—the video was posted on line—for law enforcement to arrive, drag them away and arrest them. NYC tolerates—if not encourages—anti-Semitic mayhem. Maybe it’s time to move to one of the functioning, thriving red states.

The only thing Jewish about Jeremy Ben Ami is his DNA. I have seen virulent antisemitic comments online that were triggered by Ben Ami's actual words.

It's a good thing to try and build bridges with Jews we don't agree with. I appreciate that someone is doing that. But I can't help but feel like we are the generation of American Jews who have to choose, like the Israelites in Egypt, whether to stay or go. Is a generation of young, non-religious Jews with no connection to Israel likely to remain Jewish? What will be the state of Jewish life here in 20 years when today's young antizionists are in charge? I think our job here is done and those who care about our covenant with Hashem have to think about leaving.

Mike Perceval's avatar

There’s so much that could be said in response Bonnie.

I’ll start by saying my heart is broken over the rising flood of antisemitism, anti-Zionism, anti-Israelism, and outright Jew-hatred that is happening in America, particularly amongst more and more professing Christians. I am ashamed of them, and grieve for those who may indeed be true Christians, but have fallen under the spell of doctrines of demons.

“…I can't help but feel like we are the generation of American Jews who have to choose, like the Israelites in Egypt, whether to stay or go.”

I suggest another relevant comparison would be that of the Jews in Jerusalem after the assassination of Gedaliah, who the Babylonians had made Governor. Read the account in the Tanakh, in Chapters 40 thru 44 of Jeremiah, and I think you’ll see my point.

In other words, I believe God is calling His Chosen People back into the Land today, and the individual’s response to that call will have profound consequences.

I realize that this perspective is an extremely difficult thing to accept as an inescapable reality. I struggle with the desire that it could be different myself, and I am not Jewish.

But the Word of God makes it clear that the flow of human events will travel within the prophetic banks, towards the ends that the God of Israel decreed through multiple prophets. And both the Tanakh and Brit Hadasha make it clear that what is happening will continue to get worse, though there may be interludes where false hopes are stirred and strengthened.

Each person has to deal with these matters individually, but may we always be careful to guard against being more strongly influenced by the fears and desires of our own hearts, and the voices of others, than by ‘the still small voice’ of God.

Making Aliyah will bring its own difficulties, and I am sure that for most people there would be things left behind that are missed, just as in the case of the Israelites in your example. And I believe it is just here that your example is most applicable.

Despite the yearning for what was left behind, and the dangers and difficulties of the trek through harsh desert wastelands, for those Israelites who faithfully trusted God, new and far greater joys and blessings were found; joys and blessings that could only be realized once within the Promised Land.

I pray against this evil that seeks the destruction of all that is good, and for the people of Israel, and the peace of Jerusalem, in the name and power of Yeshua HaMashiach, who was, is, and always will be, a Jew.

Love, Mike

Am Israel Chai, to the glory of God!
