Thank you for the optimistic view for Israel in 2026. I have a very pessimistic view for the Diaspora. The only solution presented by Israel for the Diaspora is Aliyah. That is not a realistic solution for 8.5 million of Jews living outside Israel which is more than 7.3 million who live in Israel. It is a very big mistake to separate the security of the 2 groups. The Diaspora doesn’t have the IDF as a preventive force. Each local Jewish group (religious, political or just gathering to celebrate) is on its own and now extremely vulnerable to violence and social isolation. The goodwill PR by Israelis who became xpats is minor and questionable. It is a mistake to forget about the Diaspora.
Diaspora Jews need to take a page from Israel and become more resilient. In different places that will look different. I can tell you in New Jersey it looks like a significant increase in Jews training to use firearms and obtaining concealed carry permits. It's good to have good and friendly relations with surrounding communities, but it's important that we be able to take care of ourselves as well.
I totally agree. I also think that the Diaspora Jews have to be more proactive aggressively to head off the Jew hatred and not wait and be only reactive.
The point was trying to make in my comment is for Israel and Diaspora not to be separate from each other as it was more visible before October 7. I feel that the “coexist” with known Islamist and BLM groups was more in the forefront.
Good article, thank you - and the best of good luck to Israel in 2026.
I’d only take issue with one comment:
“The world may grow less comfortable with Israel in 2026”
I think the Starmers, the Bidens, the Harrises, the Islamo-Marxist luvvies, Greta, ‘Queers for Palestine’ etc - all these and their ilk will be ever less comfortable.
Those of us with common sense, fairness, decency, ethics and morals will salute Eretz Israel and pray that their example catches on in our countries.
Watching Venezuela and Iran right now, I am crossing all my fingers and toes.
If the Islamic republic is replaced by something that resembles what preceded it, much of the organization behind the current antizionist frenzy will melt away.
Another great essay. It should be clear by now that continued faith in The United Hallucinations will bear nothing but a world without moral borders. And we owe Israel an eternal debt of gratitude for exposing the delusion.
An excellent map of a tough road ahead. But the toughest roads also reveal the greatest opportunities. For all of my fellow travelers here on F.J., this is the year to invest in Israel, to support your favorite programs that support Israel, to visit Israel before the tourist crush gets big again. My flight from Newark to Tel Aviv leaves in a month. Join me!
The current trajectory suggests a significant period of decline in the Western world. This deterioration appears to be accelerating, creating a complex and potentially unmanageable situation. The consequences of these trends will undoubtedly impact global dynamics. Consequently, it is anticipated that Jewish communities in the diaspora will experience these shifts. This necessitates a thoughtful consideration of future implications and strategic adjustments towards the East.
I hope you are right. One writer answered me that 700,000 Israelis live in the United States. That's a lot. Jews are a minority in Galil. The new racist in chief of NYC was serenaded by a boomer tony award winner whose smug countenance is on you tube for "gaza." What do Israelis know or care about their English speaking brethren? I think the two communities are fairly ignorant about each other. Is it true that Vance is questioning the relationship to Israel? The Dem party is apparently all but lost to Israel. They want to get Fetterman out of Congress. So the next Dem president will be if we are lucky ....like Staermer or more hostile. The Republicans if Vance is their vanguard is in question too. The only thing about this breaking news of Maduro....the Dem party would be ecstatic if the USA had invaded Israel and arrested Netanyahu. Expect more cultural isolation for Israel which is not a good thing. Tough road ahead.
"The only thing about this breaking news of Maduro....the Dem party would be ecstatic if the USA had invaded Israel and arrested Netanyahu."
What ?
The only thing with Maduro gone is that the Jew hating, Iranian, CCP, Hezbollah infested regime in Venezuela is now finisihed thanks to president Trump and US Armed Forces.
Eliminating an enemy of Israel, Jews, Christians and freedom is a cause for celebration.
Lastly, pray for the tortured, hurt people of all totaltariamn regimes that they may find liberty and freedom some day - Is Cuba next? Iran?
UK France Spain Belgium Canada Sweden Norway Finland Australia are Muslim country countries
America has been invaded by Muslims and many Democrats support this Muslim invasion....there will be blood on the streets of America in the next 5 years...
Hard to say. Empirical evidence tells me a little bit of everything. It's not all political; some people are deeply traumatized, others just want some peace and quiet, others are taking advantage of economic/financial opportunities abroad.
In the United States internal migration preferences from extensive avaiable polling are about 4 to 1 in favor of leaving your Left Wing Blue State like CA, IL or NY and moving to FL, TX or ID if you are on the Right, a Trump voter or a Republican.
Forget polling and check out the Real World below:
Right now if you want to rent a U-Haul truck of 26 feet in length to move you and your family possessions from NYC to South Florida it is $4,500. Moving from Red State, Trump voting Florida to NYC only cost $900 for the same truck. Why? Because there are not many people wanting to move to NYC given they just elected a Muslim Jihadist, Jew-hating Communist.
I read on here (do not remember the author, sorry) that addressed this. One of the major categories of those leaving are recently arrived Ukranians. The idea is that they fled a war, found another one, and fled that one too. If you remove them the situation is a lot less dire.

You're right about that my friend. Time to get proudly tough at home. Hopefully the M.O.T.T. in New York successfully help show the way.
Let's have regime change in NYC. Do what was done with Maduro, capture and arrest mamdani.

Agreed.
Worth praying for.

you seem to be misinterpreting my comments. I don't want Netanyahu arrested or Israel invaded.

"Meanwhile, more than 69,000 Israelis left the country in 2025, producing a second consecutive year of negative migration balance."
Does anyone here know the make-up of Israeli's leaving Israel?
Are they mostly Jews or Arabs?
Are they mostly left Wing or Right Wing?
Are they mostly highly educated or not?
Are they mostly singles or families?
Are they mostly men or women?
Are they people moving temporarily for a job or permamnently

Yes Joshua! Resist, insist, persist!
You mentioned the Israeli companies that will likely leave NYC. How long do you think Technion will keep their NYC campus?
Good question! Seems harder to move that than to move a company.
