The Islamic regime and its proxies are a pestilence on the face of the earth.

They must be obliterated as soon as possible.

We have just got to FINISH IT.

The Mad Mullahs have coalesced the idea in the region that Iran, as presently constituted, is a loose cannon and I don't doubt that in private, at minimum, the countries in the region are glad that the US and Israel are finally acting against them. As an example, regardless of Iran's claim that they have 60% fissile material somewhere, the B-2 strikes eliminated their labs, centrifuges, and, most likely, a huge number of their nuclear scientists and technicians this from joint operations by the US and Israel.

"The West Bank produced dozens of terror attacks in Israel proper every year. "

And well it should because the West Bank is Palestinian where no Jews should defile by treading on its Sacred Soil.

On the other hand, Judea and Samaria has been the heartland of ancestral Jewish territory for well over 2,500+ years. So we "chooses }our sides: Call it the West Bank and champion the Palestinian narrative.

Or . . . call it Judea / Samaria and champion Jewish historical rights per

1. the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and Core Legal Principles Governing Territorial Liberation:

2. International Law UN Charter Article 2(4): Prohibits the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

3. Right to Self-Defense (Article 51): While not explicitly mentioning "liberation," Article 51 of the UN Charter justifies the use of force to resist occupation, which covers regaining illegally taken territory.

4. Law of Occupation (IHL): Even if a state is occupied, the Fourth Geneva Convention protects the territory's status and its inhabitants. The occupying power does not gain sovereignty.

covers regaining illegally taken territory

Something that is impossible to do for a territory like the West Bank, which was legally a British Mandate until 1948, then annexed by Jordan, which relinquished all claims to it in 1984.

You can’t take illegally a territory that was never handed over legally to anyone.

The West Bank is a disputed territory; when terrorist attacks originate from it, the right to self-defense allows a response.

Funny thing is the Palestinians would already have a state over 98% of the West Bank if they had accepted Israel’s offer at the Camp David Summit in 2000, as President Clinton has repeatedly stated. Good thing the Palestinians were so pig-headed!

It's called Judea and Samaria. The "west bank" is the name Jordan gave to the area during its illegal occupation and annexation between 1948 and 1967. Ask yourself why there wasn't a "palestinian" state created during those years. When people declare it is "palestinian" territory, when exactly did this "palestinian" sovereign entity ever exist? So how can it be "occupied palestinian territory" when no such entity ever existed? Whose territory is being occupied by Israel? Jordan? Well, what right did Jordan ever have to that territory in the first place?

Some dictatorships build internal unity by rallying their people against a scapegoat, as you argue. But there's another explanation for why Iran's ruling clerics allocated so much capital to trying to destroy Israel: the previous government was much more secular, the Islamic Republic of Iran was, well, Islamic. A theocracy, in fact. From the quotes I've seen, killing unbelievers, particularly Jews, is highly valued in their religious texts. And a non-Muslim sovereign state, such as Israel, existing on land once ruled by Muslims is also anathema in Islam, right?

Another well done essay. Thank you for such a thoughtful explanation.

I think Hamas might have a problem now with getting money, now that their sponsor is gone.

Upstream's avatar

What about their Qatari sponsors?

Davey J's avatar

Considering Iran bombed Qatar, I doubt they will be spending much time helping going forward.

Qatari sponsors/hosts of Hamas. And Turkish sponsors. The US is strongly cultivating those two countries; I think they'll get to sponsor whomever they please. Hamas is sure looking fat, and is riding high, recruiting new terrorists, reestablishing its policing and extortion networks, killing off dissidents and rivals. Lucky for them that Trump arrived with his truce just in time.

Like he's doing for the Mullahs/IRGC right now. Whew!
