I am so proud to be Israeli and Jewish 💙🇮🇱🙏🏻

So grateful for this, even though I don’t know a single soul who was on that plane. Israelis are FUCKING AMAZING!!! 💪🏽 🇮🇱💙

B”H it turned out ok. This, among other things, makes me so proud to be a member of the same family as these heroes. Am yisrael chai!

I am flying to Israel next week and a friend asked me if I was now nervous. The opposite, I said. I am filled with pride and confidence in the heroes of Israel. Am Yisrael Chai.

Amen to that!

Not to underestimate Israel's latest heroes, the superhero was the Indian pilot that badly wounded by terrorist managed to open the cockpit door to scream for help and to allow Israeli passengers to become heroes . Netanyahu official statement said that much .

To be honest, I don't like the word 'hero' or 'superhero' - I am trying to think of another word to describe a very special, courageous person - and perhaps that's because it's been used so much as entertainment value in films and also easily referenced. There is no denying the Indian pilot was equal in hero status, however without the efforts of the Israelis involved, especially the man who calmly attempted to get the plane out of its nose dive without the real knowledge to do so, the end to this story would be very different indeed. Also, if the Indian pilot had not managed to open the door to the cabin it would have been a different story.

The reason Israelis are prone to acting quickly and decisively in threatening situations is because they have had to do so for over eighty years now. It's fair enough to recognise that.

I hear you

The pilot could be called a Hero with capital H

Joshua, you made it more than clear how Israeli’s are brought up to protect each other. Yes, these people were super heroes on that plane. ✈️ Thank you.

Beautifully written, Joshua. “In a crisis, you may be the cavalry” really stayed with me. There is something deeply Israeli, and deeply Jewish, about ordinary people simply getting up and doing what needs to be done when the moment comes. You captured that beautifully. Am Yisrael Chai.

I cannot adequately express how proud I am of my Israeli brothers and sisters, and especially these Israeli men today. Am Yisrael Chai!

"A civilization of civilian readiness." As a former US Army Infantry SSG that is what I learned long ago during my service and from my career soldier Dad and the men around him as I grew up which was "don't just stand there, do something." I would have done the same thing as those passengers because like the line in the movie "Ghostbusters" says "Who you gonna call?" When that airliner crashed in Pennsylvania on 9/11 Todd Beamer and others got up and went to try to stop the hijackers which I applaud and also the Israelis on this flydubai aircraft.

Thank YOU for your service. And I thought about Todd Beamer today as well. I revisited his story earlier this month on the 25th anniversary. Today's highjacking could have ended similarly. There are heroes among us indeed.

When I think of the vile Irish. The evil governments of Europe, Canada, Australia and New York City. And then I compare them to the beautiful brave decent people of Israel symbolized by these heroes, I want to scream. The world has turned inside out and upside down.

Don't leave out Spain from the list of vileness.

Freedom Lover's avatar

They are included under Europe.

Ah! I read right past that. Thanks.

what will it take for our enemies to realize whose side God is on?

The #resilience of the Israelis is off the charts, something to learn from and definitely something to admire.

So many heroes in that flight.

May God Bless the pilot and have a speedy recovery

The Israelis are an example to us all.

Maybe this is why people are obsessed with us. We are so damn admirable, and it just kills them that we are.

One can’t help but be proud and thankful and amazed by the heroism here.

But… some geopolitical questions: Does Saudi Arabia prosecute the Omani? If convicted and sentenced, how will this impact Saudi Arabia’s standing in the Arab world? (Imagine— an Arab state punishing an Arab for trying to kill Israelis?)

Will Saudi Arabia duck the issue by returning the Omani to Oman?

I wonder how this will impact the upcoming elections on Israeli… Will voters tilt toward parties they believe are stronger against terrorism?

We shall see. But in the meantime, our recitation this week of Hallel seems really appropriate.

Irwin Weiss's avatar

Well......that didn't take long. The Saudis have sent both the pilot and the co-pilot back to the UAE.

You hit the nail on the head. People always ask me- why did you move to israel? One of my answers is that we are all family here -responsible for one another, but you wrote it so much more eloquently , thank you..
