Sadly, you're right. However, what the rest of the world fails to understand is that the Jewish state gives humanity more than any other people.
The Lord blessed them with abilities to create so many things that help in the medical industry with both humans and animals, in armaments, in water desalinization, the laser, video games, stainless steel, pacemakers and defribillators, ballpoint pens, Google, drip irrigation, and even the Teddy Bear. There are so many more...the list is actually endless.
Israel's weapons and military equipment are revered. It is Israel who tests and improves America's equipment, her planes, tanks, firearms, bombs, etc. Without their help, we wouldn't be where we are.
Israel exists no matter what and she always will. And we thank the Lord every day for her and her people. The Lord said, Choose Life! That is what His People Israel have done and they've done it for the entire world.
They despise Jews no matter WHAT. Rich, poor, no homeland, has a homeland, assimilates, doesn't assimilate--none of it matters. They will find a reason to hate Israel/Jews.
With two million Israeli Arabs, both Muslims and Christian, Israel is NOT an apartheid state. The West Bank remains disputed territory, and Gaza is run by Hamas. You can’t change the definition of apartheid to suit your view .. apartheid means segregation .. Israeli Arabs participate at every level of Israeli society ..
So your comment holds no water and is totally invalid. You can have an opinion, but the facts are not yours and prove you wrong.
This was a South African social and legal system based entirely on race, a cradle-to-grave form of segregation, that has nothing to do with Israel, except being another slur term meant to smear shit on it.
20% of Israel are Arabs, the only Arabs who have civil and human rights anywhere in the Middle East, not to mention all the other races and ethnicities that live freely in Israel.
As for the WB, that is disputed territory and the barriers there have nothing to do with race, but were installed to protect Israelis after various Intifadas led to suicide bombers killing around 1k Israelis on buses, in schools and restaurants. The Palestinians have been offered full statehood in the WB for decades, but have turned down every offer, as they don't want their own state but to destroy Israel.
As for the "killing innocent children" sob song, the crocodile tears of Westerners never flow for any Arab children when they're killed in bulk by other Arabs, only by Israel. Hamas started a war, built miles of tunnels and zero bomb shelters, use hospitals and schools as bases, and if Israel were to move them out of harm's way, useful idiots like you would shriek Ethnic cleansing!
It's one thing to be a fool, but at least be your own fool. Don't let others do your thinking for you.
Really? Two million Arabs live in Israel with equal rights. How is that an apartheid state? But, if I look around the region at Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt, there are no Jews - none. There were nearly a million Jews in these countries a few decades ago and they were all forcibly exiled. Remind me again of the definition of apartheid.
Not quite clear which apartheid state being built you refer to Would it be any of Islamic states ?. It can't be Israel where all minorities, regardless of a race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, looks or whatever else you can dream of enjoy full civil rights including, property rights and, of course voting .
I share your negative feelings toward killing of innocent children and 'anyone' engaging in it . I suppose you refer to Gaza .. It is Gaza's Muslim parents that, despite extensive warnings deliberately let their children to be put in the line of fire to be used as defensive weapon (shield) and be martyred for their genocidal cause of exterminating Yahudi .
Basic social services are not tied to military service. Financial grants, deposits, education, and vocational training benefits are. How is this, in any way, shape or form, apartheid?
Israeli citizens who are Palestinian have two choices, volunteer for the IDF which is committing genocide against them or forgo the state services whose prerequisite is military enlistment.
Are you making this up as you go? Arab citizens of Israel are not required to serve in the Israeli military. They do not forgo basic social services simply because they do not serve.
That's what I said they're not required to serve. However, serving in the IDF is necessary to qualify for services. That is the legal mechanism of Israel's apartheid, in part.
So the reason why Israel gets held back from taking place and part at negotiation tables is "because it´s too strong" ? Anyway, if "negotiations" are not about and with Israel, then it is strange how Iran can claim that closing Hormuz again should be "because of Israel resuming fight against Hezbollah" ? If Israel continues to be held away from negotiations and contracts, of course it has no obligations towards USA and Iran.
If negotiations would have included obligations requiring Iran—and other countries such as Qatar—to refrain from any support for terrorism, then Israel could also confirm obligations not to take action against terrorists. As long as Israel is excluded from all key negotiations, no one can demand that it ceases its self-defense without receiving something in return or obtaining guarantees from others.
It is very strange that the US cannot, or will not, make such benefits clear to its own population, as well as to Iran and the other parties involved.
The US cannot make anything clear to anyone about anything, for better or worse, as our leader is a deranged infant and nothing matters but his moods, whims and who most recently kissed his ass.
Trump is only slightly more credible and trustworthy than the mad mullahs of Iran. Anyone who's trusted him in the past 50 years has had the same exact experience—regret plus shock that anyone could be so crass, vulgar and dishonest.
I can well imagine the sense of disappointment evoked by the opportunistic behavior of the American government. Welcome to the club. A twilight superpower is no longer itself. It therefore seems to me high time for Israel to forge new alliances—or revive old ones. Who was it again who ensured the Jewish state gained access to nuclear knowledge? France, right? And what applies to Israel also applies to the EU: 'For decades, Europe's enemies insisted that the EU was fragile, artificial, and unsustainable.' That could very well change now. The EU is certainly not opposed to the Jewish State; on the contrary.
A strong ally in the South would be more than welcome. What will be asked of Israel, however, is attention to the civil rights of ALL inhabitants of the realm. Far too many things are happening now that do not fit within a constitutional state. Much more attention; the state can now afford that largesse from a position of strength and power.
What does it say about American psychological and political dysfunction that the two candidates for the highest office were Trump and Kamala, instead of Nikki Haley and Josh Shapiro.
The world prefers defenseless , stateless or better yet dead Jews. The present state of Israel is nether stateless or defenseless and makes the Jews hating nation very nervous . The IDF is battle hardened and superbly equipped
“Israel did not grow strong because it had an American alliance. It acquired an American alliance because it had grown strong.” Agree. Iran will continue to be a thorn in everyone's side as long as the Mad Mullahs are in power. So, ridding Iran of them will, I believe, show the other regional neighbors that instead of demonizing the Jewish state they'll have to tend to their own knitting which will increase regional stability because since 1948 the Arabs have been using Israel to avoid taking care of their people. Israel has made itself militarily and economically robust which means the Arabs AREN'T going to drive them into the sea.
The mainstream media is tracking the political theater. We are tracking the logistics.
Here is the math the State Department won't put in a press briefing: The US produces light WTI crude, but our complex refineries are built for heavy Middle Eastern crude. When CENTCOM wargamed the war with Iran, they knew the Strait of Hormuz would close immediately.
The solution? Seize Venezuela’s Orinoco Belt eight weeks prior.
If Israel had developed a sophisticated public relations effort as good as that of some of the Arab and Islamic entities have developed against Israel, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
Thanks Josh .. great article, although I get a sense of ‘déjà vue’ .. the islamic / islamist world outnumbers us Jews.
You are absolutely right that mainstream Muslims don’t approve of Iran’s evil regime, nor Israel as a superpower. Their ideal position is to keep Iran weak, and Israel under threat / under the cosh, on an almost constant basis.
The Arab world has also never attempted to address the palestinian issue, who are NOT the only displaced people.
800,000 Jews were expelled from Arab lands in the 1950s, and with modern day Israel having been reborn in its original homeland, these Jewish refugees found refuge.
Just imagine how bad it will get when HaShem Himself steps in to end the Gog/Magog war as prophesied in Ezekiel 38 & 39. Yeehaw! Alleluia! Coming to a Jezreel Valley near you. Soon.
Given that most have no concept of the depth of Israel's tactical and strategic nuclear weapons arsenal, there is no full understanding of the asymmetric warfare that Israel has been fighting for the past 4+ decades. Like the United States in 1945 (versus Japan) and potentially Russia in 2026 (versus Ukraine), Russia and Israel may have to resort to delivery of tactical nuclear weapons strikes against Ukraine and against Iran, respectively, when suicide drones and more break through sufficiently. That day is coming closer in Ukraine, potentially. Fortunately for Israel, the resistance being developed on the ground inside of western Iran will eventually find its moment and voice.
Most have not seen the impact craters throughout Iran that have been wrought by US CENTCOM and IAF sorties and missiles. If Iran having 4000+ craters at key sites throughout Iran is victory, well then so be it. The fact that Irans decayed infrastructure, drought, economic devastation, etc have not resulted in regime change is due to the fractious nature of Iran. The illusion of a "Persian People" has now been firmly shown to be nonsense. Kurds, Armenians, Persians, Turkmen, Sunni Arabs, Bakhtiari's, Shi'a, Zoroastrians, and others have no common identity to rally around--that is the cold hard truth as to why the IRGC remains in power. Like Saddam Hussein, they can rotate the role of scapegoat on a monthly basis if they wish. The degree of dissonance within this tormented society is incalculable.
As the final 20 years of oil/petroleum play out, the Muslim-majority nations thriving on petrodollars are faced with a ticking clock. In addition to having falling revenues during the next 20 years, their structural debts and failed economies will relegate them to forgettable entities--particularly as climate change continues to bake those with the highest volume of sand per capita. As Persian Gulf States expand overland pipes to render the Straits of Hormuz less relevant, as the Iranian-Russian alliance dwindles due to Russian economic losses, then the continued prosecution of individuals and organizations doing business (traditional investments and crypto investments) with organizations on the Terrorist Designation List, OFAC List, and the SDN List will continue to chip away at the expansion of Muslim influence in North America, South America, Europe, and elsewhere.
Remember the following:
(1) Israel is THE regional nuclear power in the Middle East and Central Asia.
(2) Israel's alliance with India is a Hindu-Judaism alliance against Islamist malintent.
(3) The Army of Pakistan controls all Pakistani nuclear weapons--not elected officials. (Try to recall the names of any Pakistani elected presidents that have finished out a term in office--the number is ZERO because when push comes to shove, the Army ALWAYS resets the Pakistani political landscape).
(4) The ISI is able to contain most Islamist threats to its sovereignty, but not all. For decades the Pakistani Army has relied upon USAID and other US funding sources to ensure US CENTCOM is the last resort for securing Pakistan's nuclear weapons before any lunatics grab hold of them.
"When Israel’s adversaries like Hamas and Hezbollah and their useful-idiot supporters around the world talk about “resistance,” this is precisely what they are talking about: resistance to Israel’s success."
Taken out of context, yes. However, when put in context of the five closely interconnected slogans beginning with "Free Palestine" and terminating with the slogan "Resistance by any means," the meaning is not resistance to success but destroying Israel and killing off all Jews.
If this all sounds like an ultra-right wing ranting, let me refer you to the Koran and Haddiths. They refer to Jews as kahfirs deserving at best humiliating servitude but at best forcible conversion or death. Read also the charters of Hamas, Heabollah, Islamic and Palestine Islamic Jihad. Watch Memri TV for unedited declarations of intent by their political leaders and electronic media statements by imams and other religious, cultural, and entertanment institutions.
The writing is on the wall. One merely needs to read it. Then act with eyes wide open.
A very insightful account, rightfully identifying a plethora of realities that hadn't yet completely penetrated, but make complete sense the moment Hoffman mentions them.
Also very clearly emphasizing the US interests served by its alliance with Israel. Interests widely ignored or denied by a large chunk of Trumps constituency.
Joshua, a great essay and many points to consider. During Israel's early days, it was the darling of the left because is subscribed to a sort of socialism (aka the Kibbutz ideology), the fact that an oppressed people could overcome hardships and thrive. After the 6 day war, the shift was evident. Now you had an Israel that moved more towards capitalism (a no-no in the minds of the left), and an Israel that didn't need to beg for support or rely on the kindness of others. Again, this is an anathema to the leftists in the west who have the 'we are the savior' mentality. On the right you suddenly had a Jewish nation that could fight back convincingly and no longer be the compliant shtetl Jew. The Jew who can defend themselves and comes out triumphant is an absolute horror to those on the extreme right. Also, remember the majority of those who served in départements of state in western countries came from university environments that if not despising Jews and Israel were certainly not sympathetic.
As to your main thesis that the world does not want to see a powerful Israel, I think you nailed it. China sees a strong Israel and a peaceful middle east as a threat to their hegemony and the EU sees a strong Israel which could bring stability as an existential threat to their economic and political strength. A peaceful middle east with Israeli know-how, arab resources and geography united as an economic power would rival if not surpass the EU.
The old adage holds true. The world loves Jews when we’re victims. They despise Jews with guns in their hands.
Especially as those guns are preventing our “next” genocide at the hands of our enemies. How dare we not walk submissively into the ovens?
Never!
Sadly, you're right. However, what the rest of the world fails to understand is that the Jewish state gives humanity more than any other people.

and they will be cursed by the Lord.
Not true. The world has for long celebrated the existence and survival of the jews and the jewish state for a long time.
Now, the world despises anyone who builds an apartheid state, killing innocent children all along.
With two million Israeli Arabs, both Muslims and Christian, Israel is NOT an apartheid state. The West Bank remains disputed territory, and Gaza is run by Hamas. Don’t expect a Jew hater to care one whit about such niceties as history, facts, logic or reality. They never have and never will.

Then, why don't they despise Iran? Or China? Or Hamas?
People with any cognitive abilities do despise those nations.
Yet nobody ever demonstrates against them...
The world has always celebrated the Jews? You have an interesting view of what constitutes celebration. Hint: civilizational slaughter doesn’t count.
Thanks for so perfectly illustrating the bizarre mind virus that is Jew hatred.
You are describing Gaza and hamas, not Israel.
Not quite clear which apartheid state being built you refer to Would it be any of Islamic states ?. Exactly. As Dara Horn’s book title says: “People Love Dead Jews”.
“Israel did not grow strong because it had an American alliance. It acquired an American alliance because it had grown strong.” Agree. Iran will continue to be a thorn in everyone's side as long as the Mad Mullahs are in power. To expand on Dara Horn’s insightful thesis, if there’s one thing people love more than dead Jews, it is defenseless ones.
If Israel had developed a sophisticated public relations effort as good as that of some of the Arab and Islamic entities have developed against Israel, we wouldn't be having this discussion.
