Born in 1952 and grew up in a country chock full of WWII and Korean war vets and while they'd rarely speak of their ordeals, such as my career Soldier Dad who was at Chosin Reservoir in '50, their examples of true service and sacrifice were always out there. For example, I'm named for my Uncle Rich who was killed in August 1942 at the Battle of Savo Island. Even with Vietnam the disenchantment took quite awhile to coalesce and then took the country a long time to recover. Israel has been at war of one form or another since 1948 with a much smaller population and that DOES make it much more personal. May all those who died for Éretz Yisra'él, RIP.

It all starts with education. Something the US lacks ( IMHO) in any meaningful way. The K-12 curriculum has now been taken over by anti- Semitic, anti- Israel, propaganda. The colleges and universities have been turned into hotbeds of propaganda, disinformation and hatred of great Western principles of civilization.Civic pride, care for others, not only in America but around the world- has turned into selfish, money grabbing hedonistic mindsets - none of this helps people to think one second about someone who has given their life and served in honor, to keep the present morons sipping their lattes.

In Israel- indeed every soldier fallen causes tears to flow in the heart- doesn’t matter whether you knew them or not. The tears come because the flowers and potential of life have been savagely cut while trying to protect humanity from itself.

So important for the world to understand!! History will prove America's ending the draft a huge mistake. And many of our young drifting around will eventually realize what they missed as a part of learning, maturing and preparing for the future.
