I don’t agree at all. Trump and Netanyahu have both said that the deal is off if Hamas does not disarm. Let’s get our hostages back and see what Hamas does. If they hem and haw and play for more time, Israel will turn Gaza into glass and kill every last Hamas terrorist, no matter the civilian cost.

Trump has said a lot of things that we're still waiting for!

Whizjet's avatar

I agree.

Personally I suspect Hamas will not meet the terms of the offer and will - as usual - try to delay, procrastinate, obfuscate and effectively do nothing.

And if that’s the case I suggest they will increasingly come to resemble the Tamil Tigers.

I have no issues with that outcome.

Israel seems to like the deal:

https://www.jns.org/tel-aviv-stocks-soar-to-new-highs-on-optimism-over-gaza-plan/

I say, give it chance to work. If the hostages are not released, Trump has said the war is back on. If the hostages are released, and Hamas pulls a fast one, the war is back on.

Once the hostages are released, Hamas has no leverage left.

Let this play out.

By the way if Trump wanted a Nobel Peace Prize he would never have sent B-2 Bombers to wipe out Iran's nuclear program. He would not have told the US Navy to blow up the Venezuelan drug boats. That Iran bombing may have rightly won many friends in Israel as it should, but not with the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize voters.

Do you think Bibi had a choice with Trump browbeating him into compliance?

John Galt III's avatar

I personally can't answer your question. as I do not have an insider's knowledge to their discussions.

I do know we both support Israel and want its enemies destroyed. How that is accomplished is the question.

The IDF did NOT handle this 2 year Gaza operation well. I do not blame the soldiers but the General Staff. I have read enough about their incompetence that dragged this out far longer than necessary such that Israel put itself in a worse situation than necessary. That is water under the bridge.

Trump gave Hamas a fixed package deal. Hamas is now stalling. I hope Trump sees the stalling for what it is, calls Hamas' bluff and lets Israel finish the job if this drags on much longer and I mean days not weeks.

I agree with you.

Ed.'s avatar

Sooo, it played out. Now what?

John Galt III's avatar

Israel gets the hostages back.

Dana Ramos's avatar

It's no way near played out, yet.

Do you know who Caroline Glick is? She's an adviser to PM Netanyahu. I have read her book - One State Solution and she is wicked smart.

This is a new short video of her thoughts in an interview - please watch

True! But 'the deadlines' have already been passed twice! Now what, I repeat?

John Galt III's avatar

Be patient. If the hostages are not released, Israel's IDF will take care of business. Netanyahu, The Israeli Government and the IDF are demonstrating patience - for now. They will know when Hamas will or will not release the hostages.

If they can wait, so can I.

Ed.'s avatar

Hamas now can verify that our deadlines mean nothing.

John Galt III's avatar

Looks like the hostages will all be released at this point - so good news!! Hope the reports are correct

You’re referring to the same peace prize that was awarded to Obama for absolutely nothing. I’m not impressed with the prize or its rewardees.

Trader Grudinin's avatar

The Nobel Peace Prize is a farce. History proves Trump is the most consistent peacemaker ever to occupy the White House. His actions stem from an inner drive, not a quest for fame.

Miriamnae's avatar

Amen. Nor is Trump.

Laura's avatar

Best analysis I've read on this horrible deal. MAGA Jews are still in denial, desperately trying to put a positive spin on it.

Freedom Lover's avatar

This is way overwrought and entirely premature.

Aimee Samana's avatar

I hope you’re right. But it’s now Oct 28th and Hamas is still pussyfooting around without consequences, and Trump is making threats but not following up on them.

I believe my brain is 100% reliable. This article is brutally but absolutely rational and comes to absolutely rational conclusions. This might be time for ardent hopes and dreams, but facts tell the truth and bode what’s coming. It’s already well underway. Trump? Please!

Thank you! I’m glad you see that.

<< narcissistic lunacy >> : is the only thing Trump has ever perpetrated.

<< that Netanyahu did not see that coming >> : I don´t think so. Rather he sees the unfulfillabilities, contradictions, incompleteness in Trump's delusional and compulsive actions, and that the nonsense cannot last, time will show. But if he acts against this now when the world is drunk from that shiity "peace plan", it will fall back on Israel.

There are so many things unclear in that glorious "peace plan"; ambiguities and pitfalls that the Wittkoffs are too stupid to foresee, solve or even understand.

<< making the return of the hostages the most important issue >> is the priority of the Israel "opposition" and the "peace"niks that brought us to Oct 07

How widely stupid and incompetent Trump is, should have been clear since his ineffective and senseless blathering with Putin at the latest, where significant allies are needed and must be integrated, which is, however, completely alien to an egomaniac like Trump.

Tovia Ben Dovid's avatar

Perhaps this conclusion is premature... Let's pray that you are wrong, and we should be able to conclude very soon. I agree with the peace prize comment, however. If Hamas survives in any way, then we will know. Additionally, deradicalizing the Palestinians is a must, and will take decades!

Mark Simmons's avatar

Needed to be said. Always be sceptical of peace plans when you are dealing with inbred, low IQ, sadistic, sub-human trash like Hamas and their allies. They will never, ever stop wanting to kill Jews and destroy Israel, a beautiful modern democratic oasis in a Middle Eastern desert of corruption, violence and immorality. As civilisation collapses in the West, Israel is the world’s only hope. Truly, a light unto the nations.

Trump’s reputation is on the line. He said if the hostages were not ALL released and Hamas disarmed , laying down their arms of war, something bad, real bad was going to happen.

I have supported Donald J Trump from the beginning of MAGA , but here is where I draw the line, if he betrays Israel.

Hamas is the terrorist entity, not Israel. If Hamas lays down their arms, there is Peace, if Israel lays down their arms, the terror continues, world wide!!!

James Q Tigernuts's avatar

The party suing for peace should be Hamas, but it seems to be Israel. This has gone topsy-turvy. Hamas needs to be told that "We accept, but ..." means they *don't* accept, with all the consequences that entails.

Trader Grudinin's avatar

I know about Trump's eccentric limitations but I don't agree with this analysis. Bibi is aware of the well-funded Israeli discontent from the hostage families, the ever-miserable Israeli left, the diplomatic isolation and massive media campaign against the Israeli government and Jews everywhere. Israel has been looking for an off-ramp. Hamas is pulverised and stripped of Iranian and the major part of Qatar collaboration. War is a continuation of politics, and politics is the art of the possible. Heroic glory seekers should limit themselves to volunteering. their own services

This is terrible deal but it may fall apart

BGeorge Gobel's avatar

It’s amazing what an 80 yr old President can do in only nine months.

Every great man has a quirk.

Let’s wait until all hostages are returned before we conjure up the clouds of uncertainty.

Larry935613's avatar

Yup! Putin told Trump to fuck off , so he threw Israel under the bus for his ego

Dave S's avatar

Death penalty for terror murder must be instituted in Israel immediately.
