Friday NY Times of May 9th another denunciation of Israel for it's use of starvation....the imminent humanitarian disaster. Alleged. No mention of hamas. No mention of hostages. Pope Leo could have called for the immediate and unconditional release of all living and dead hostages. He did not. I heard "beachwashing" as a charge against Israel fifty years ago when Israel was doing the most dastardly thing of allegedly building a beach resort in Sinai. Zoom forward to my local Queens NY farmer's market...I'm approached by the world's oldest living former SDS...perhap jvp.....member "are you for a Palestine." "No, I'm for Israel." She walks away. The candidate for NYC comptroller and I exchange a few words in Hebrew....he tells me in Hebrew his son made aliyah and is on a kibbutz near Tel Aviv. He says he gets a lot of flack for his support of Israel. Yes in the infamous "JewYorkCity" with the world's largest concentration of Jews...it's not cool to support Israel.
