I usually agree with everything you write and love the way you write it. And everything you wrote here is indeed true and inspiring — but I think you failed to account for the mass anti-Israel hysteria sweeping the globe. The international media has been relentlessly promoting Hamas propaganda for years, and since Oct. 7 it has whipped the world into a frenzy.
We are witnessing a gathering storm, as 10 European countries plus Canada impose sanctions on Judea and Samaria over a relatively small problem in global terms. Led by the "as a Jew" foreign secretary of Britain Ed Miliband, whose anti-Israel rhetoric is growing increasingly unhinged, they may one day decide that words, arms embargoes, and sanctions are not enough.
If they decide to band together to "stop Israel" militarily, Israel with all of its superior military accomplishments cannot hope to overcome the might of tens of Western countries, possibly joined by the United States under a more hostile president.
By that time the West will be an economic and cultural basket case anyway. It’s certainly moving in that direction. Western countries are becoming more divided by the day. Their leaders weak, cowardly, corrupt, incompetent and immoral and their militaries weak. A war with Israel will finish them for good.
As for the US, the people will not tolerate their government trying to destroy the Holy Land and will rise up putting 2A to good use. Anyway, the US is still struggling to contain Iran.
I’m sure Israel will find a way to emerge victorious although damaged.
We need to have more children - and, of course, children who remain connected to Jews and the God of Avraham Yitzhak and Yaakov. The non Jew countries continue to tell us we are chosen people and ,using their methods (ignorance, greed, and violence, they will enforce once again, as in the past 1000 years, the prophesy of their greatest prophet, Bilaam: "they are a people who dwell alone."
It is not far-fetched to consider that a future American government, especially a democrat controlled White House and Congress could wage a military attack on Israel. How would Israel deal with that?
"Yet Jewish military victories in antiquity were repeatedly followed by catastrophic defeats against powers possessing vastly greater manpower and resources. No more".
Not much of a lynchpin since it wasn't even considered for the 12 Day War with Iran in 2025.
Nuclear is just a rag doll for Israel's detractors to clutch in order to ignore the true lynchpin of Israeli defense: superb professionalism of the IDF. No European power could have mounted such a successful war 2000 km from its borders. Saudi Arabia's defense budget in 2025 was double Israel's: that's the difference competence and professionalism make.
In the 2026 war against Iran, even the US adopted the Israeli system of launching airstrikes in consecutive trains.
Not the breakthrough in Suez that surrounded the Egyptian Army and forced it to survive on Red Cross rations allowed through Israeli lines? Not the collapse of the Syrian tank forces on the Golan that left Israel with two full brigades of Soviet tanks?
I'm aware ignorance is often an incurable disease but just in case, try "The Yom Kippur War" by Abraham Rabinowitz and see if it helps.
In 1977, Sadat was asked on his trip to Israel by Israel’s FM why he didn’t continue his advance in Sinai after breaking the Bar-Lev Line. His response was “Israel has nuclear weapons. Or did you not know that?”
Bullshit: the Egyptian plan, revealed to Israel by Nasser's son in law, was to advance 10km into the Sinai and call for a ceasefire while Egyptian forces were still under the protection of air defense missiles on the other side of the Canal.
One Egyptian tank brigade attempted to advance beyond this towards Sharm El-Sheik on the second week of the war and was annihilated.
That's the reason so few Egyptian armored forces crossed over in the first place.
Cure your ignorance: "The Yom Kippur War" by Abraham Rabinowitz.
Your post does not contradict mine. Their incursion was limited in advance precisely because they feared a nuclear retaliation. They believed Israel had nukes even before the attack
I appreciate your megasweep view of history from 40,000 feet.
Friends? Who can the Likud count on as friends?......

Of course, you forgot to mention the greatest lynchpin of Israel’s military might - its nuclear arsenal.

Nuclear likely saved Israel in 1973
