'Next year in Jerusalem' encompasses both history and substance. It speaks for itself and should not be hurried over, particularised in a way to satisfy impressions of others, or seen to be inadequate in any way despite the fact we now have a State. The effect of consumerism on Jews in the Diaspora is the same as the effect of consumerism on anybody living in a society that is driven by it. We should all be most careful to avoid its influence insofar as our souls and higher interests are concerned.
I'm an Australian Jew and dual Israeli citizen, and every time I read about North American Jews in their diaspora, I cannot identify in any way with what is before me. So often the attitudes evoked or experiences discussed are just so different. As with any Jews anywhere - even in Israel - there are many individual differences and practices, and I don't think in the main that this diffuses or makes less strong one's Jewish identity, or sense of it. As to sovereignty, yes, it is crucial to the State of Israel and Israelis have the enormous responsibility of making sure that continues with the survival of the country in mind, as well as the exercise of Jewish values and aspirations. We can do that, too, by providing the kind of support we do and by never forgetting 'Next year in Jerusalem'. Rather than a more organised societal elaboration of Jewish connectiveness, we can make sure, individually, of keeping our Jewish souls alive and well. The fact that we are indeed family - all of us - is the foundation of cohesion and of good survival.

If you want reshoring, you provide a stable source of supply. The Middle East can’t do that. It will be uncertain for years."

I think that as Jews and our supporters we need to look broadly and long on the Muslim Regime of Iran situation. We must not only survive the next day, next month, but next year and 5yrs from now. We need to look at all the pieces on the board.
The US is weak. Israel has technologies coming into operation that are both militarily advantageous AND less expensive = sustained warfare with more bang.
I don't like Israel and the US looking weak - but: is it real weakness.

Our local JCC has mostly non-Jews using it, promotes the usual woke causes, and is hardly a base for improving Jews' attitudes and practices. Any nominally Jewish enterprise whose functioning religion is woke socialism is part of the problem. This article is a masterpiece of buzzword deployment. HaShem's Torah program is not an a la carte menu.
JCCs as the locus for the revitalization of Jewish life? Where ? In the gyms and swimming pools that are one of its primary- if not only - attraction? That’s why they’re mainly known by their abbreviation : not too identifiably Jewish
