Our Land is filled with death, true, but the stream of refua (healing) that is pouring down now is incredible and palpable. How many in hospital and care now, both from the massacre and from the war.... and in addition to our usual sick and healing. Let us heal our spiritual wounds as well. Let us not villainize 'settlers' as the rest of the world wishes to do. Let us be together as one... and we will prevail over anything that tries to stop us.
A beautiful, compassionate piece with so many questions of why? We grieve at any form of death and we continually seek to find answers that will help us process this grief, but without any real closure. So we continue to question and find ways to ease the pain and confuson of it. Her intent to organize a cafe to heal is admirable. I hope it will help many people.
I don't actually get what her point is. Do any of us celebrate death? I don't think so. And, according to multiple polls, they prefer being called Israeli Arabs NOT Palestinian Israelis. Her leftism just keep peeking through.
We decided to publish this piece to reflect the somber and sort of hazy feeling that many Israelis have been feeling since October 7th. And it’s okay if she’s a leftist. This platform is for all sociopolitical persuasions so long as they are not extremists.
I respect Josh's views and it is, after all, his forum. But I don't think he is any more "mature" than you are. The piece, although well-written, was depressing at a time when all Jews, whether in Israel or the Diaspora, need words of faith, humor and courage.
As Golda told Moshe Dyan when he became hysterical about their losses in the 1973 war, "Wash your face! Pull yourself out of it!". (The line was in the movie Golda, played by Helen Mirren). Yes, the piece did sound hopeless and should have been shared only with the writer's psychiatrist. We Jews cannot afford the luxury of becoming emotional basket cases. Go watch a funny movie, maybe one of the brilliant satires against Hamas on YouTube!
How beautiful and how heartbreaking. I can’t imagine how deep your sorrow and suffering is. I can only send you my love and prayers.

Of course you are right. It was a well written piece. You're just more mature than I ; -)

😘
Excellent contribution, right to the point of the heart !
A Heartfelt, heart wrenching piece… sadly, it feels hopeless… I don’t want to feel this way, but somehow I can’t shake the feeling…

Now that is a much more productive task than writing depressing articles!
