From "you cannot defeat Hamas because it is an idea" to "disproportionate" Israeli force, nothing quite matches the sheer idiocy of the arguments people trot out against the State of Israel.
Reminder: you forgot to include the argument that Zionism is an evil plot to take over the world when in reality it just means ‘the right of the Jewish people to exist in their ancestral homeland in peace & security.’ ( with its neighbors.)This argument along with the ridiculous Khazarian mafia myth is all over social media. All of these, including your 9, are inescapable, infuriating & accepted as truth by a very large number of people.
The intersectionality with other sick notions does not help matters. Hence the rabid Pro-Palestinian movement all over the institutions of so called higher learning.
Excellent post. I agree with everything you’ve written except the notion that the ‘idea’ of Nazism was defeated. Sadly I believe it’s alive & well & helped to survive by Operation Paperclip by non other than the United States.
Nazism exists in the sewers of the human mind. It gets cyclically activated when The State here in Europe needs dark-side emotions in the Populus to re-boot The State's function, and that is why all Jews need Israel as the place of safety, when The State here in Europe becomes violent. So far The USA is mercifully free of this, because The USA recognises that this Nazism is a European cultural phenomenon and is therefore a threat to Freedom in The US. By the way Trump is not a Nazi. He has repeatedly stated that Anti-Semitism is an 'Evil Scourge'. All Nazis are Genocidal Anti-Semites, and Trump is not anti-Semitic. Hamas is Genocidal: All monitored and in the Record.
Yes. Hamas is not the source of the idea. Just a manifestation of Jihadism. It is not sufficient to eradicate current Hamas members, something must be done about Jihadism as an idea. Different education, cult deprogramming, giving people hope in other ideas such as science, more peaceful religions (even within Islam), village economics and cultural activities (music, dance, storytelling, crafts and agriculture, food, scholarship, etc).
The argument, unless made by fools, is not that Hamas or Jihadism is ONLY an idea. It's that Jihadism is an idea (with real world nasty manifestations, but also giving people hope) that must be tackled on a cultural/spiritual/psychological level if it is to be eradicated, or at least made much less palatable.
The Marshall plan in Germany and the Reverse Course in Japan after WWII are examples of this. They could have been done better, but they worked tolerably well to make Nazism and Japanese racial supremacy less palatable.
Hamas is in alliance with the Re-Formed Nazi Party, and have been monitored as such here in London, from 2012. Top-level Nazis met repeatedly in London's East End to do so. Hamas is sworn to Genocide. All this is now in the record. This explains the recent events including the attack of 7/10/23: Pogrom, Genocide against The Jewish People, Alliance with The Nazi Party: All verified and in the record.
It’s nice to have rebuttal talking points but my experience is that any response is met with the accusation of “Zionist propaganda “. It can be disheartening.
It's clear to me (but not to most liberal or leftist folks in the west) that Jihadists are not murderous because they are being oppressed. They are murderous because they imbibed a toxic ideology. What is NOT clear to me is whether some of them joined this death cult because they felt oppressed.
Joshua, your article, which clearly reflects your thinking and knowledge, is so well written. You picked the points and demolished the arguments with directness and clarity. Only the truly close minded, disturbed, radical, fanatical, antisemetical minds will not hear the reality cuz they are the creators of the 9 points you demolished! Well done man!
Excellent! When I subscribed to "Future of Jewish," a little less than a year ago, I said we need to be educated about Israel. You've done an outstanding job in doing just that. Let's hope that your writings penetrate the hearts and brains of the "Pro-Hamas Protesters" here in the United States but more importantly finds it's way into the hands of a young impressionable Palestinian. Keep up the fantastic work Joshua...
Good, very helpful post, it's great to have it all in one place for those who support Israel's freedom. Thank you.
I need to note though that among normal, non-"woke" the most frequent, and sticky question is the West bank settlements. It's not so to me, but it's really not a secret that far more than a fringe, probably the majority of people don't try to study and learn, but rather shoot from the hip. And alas there's nothing I personally can say in short 3 sentences.
Joshua, you are a master at writing articles in which you list information about a topic. You gave us precise and salient, counter arguments in each one. In reading all nine, for me, it always comes back to pure Jew hatred, simple and yet a highly complex hatred. What seems so easy for these Jew haters is to choose Jews as their target and then come up with their illogical, contrived "crimes." When you have groups who are proud to say, "Working to Stop the Genocide," and they certainly don't mean Israelis, or their bold graphic, of "A Year of Unspeakable Loss" citing September 29th and the countries of Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and Yemen, it almost speaks to a deliberate denial of what happened on October 7th. How could we ever convince groups like this and change their thinking of all you have written? They are as deceived and indoctrinated by the propaganda as the Palestinians have been. Universities, governments, news and social media have been great contributors to this. The scary part is that many have jumped on this bandwagon quickly. Something major is needed to change this convoluted thinking, or the West will see itself with an entirely different landscape.
Thank you for compiling this list. One bullet point I’ve heard a few times is that Bibi is responsible for the rise in power of Hamas. That he gave them funds I suppose believing they would be a peace partner?
Hamas started in 1988 and became powerful as a result of Palestinians being fed up with the Palestinian Authority’s kleptocracy and nepotism. Bibi allowing Qatar to send Hamas money made them stronger but not strong.
This article makes many good points to debunk the popular Der Stürmer type libels being promoted not just by the rabble rousers on campuses and in the streets, but also by government officials, and the world wide media.
One comment regarding the "Settler" slur. Since when are people returning to the heartland of sovereign ancestral territory settlers. Returnees would be the more accurate term, but, then again, that would recognize their legitimacy to live on the land, something we just could not allow, let alone condone. By the way, where was the world's moral outrage when the local Arabs hurled rocks on cars driving in the area killing and maiming the occupants? Where was their voice of condemnation when the returnees homes were being shot at, when residents were stabbed? Is that to say the returnees who are reacting with violence are justified? Absolutely not! It is to say that the old adage violence begets violence is being played out here. Stop attacking Jews and Jews will stop attacking you.Try, instead, to use that exquisite gift of the ability to reason, to engage in sustained dialogue.
Perhaps the failure of Arabs to engage in open ended discussion has deeper roots. In the third myth regarding "Palestinians' resisting oppression, The point is made that "the romanticized notion of Palestinian 'resistance' . . . . is not a straightforward fight against oppression — but a complex, multi-faceted conflict driven by extremist ideologies and geopolitical agendas." Actually, the root of the Arab beliefs is found in the Qu'uran. Many Surahs (chapters) call for Jews to be killed., friendship betweenJews and Christians to be a false face for the true believers are to always have hatred in their hearts towards the Kufrs (sic).
Another problematic issue with this essay is the paradox that it unwittingly legitimizes the local identity they adopted only as recently as 1964, as if the Judean, Samarian, and Gazan Arabs historically constituted a distinct national group — Palestinians (see https://www.youtube.com/shorts/F9PEbHStcXY). In point of fact and legally, in terms of UN Law (not that this organization is overly concerned with the nicities of its own Charter), as just noted, they are Judean, Samarian, and Gazan Arabs. They do not meet any of the definitions of protected groups as defined in the Geneva Convention on Genocide: They are not a race. They are not an ethnicity. They are not a religion. And they do not fulfill the legal definition of nationality.
Lastly, when Jews refer to Judea and Samaria as the West Bank, the label Jordan applied to the area in 1950 to erase any Jewish connection to the land, they are, in effect, confirming the Arab claim that it belongs to them, not the Jews.
Repeating your sworn enemy's accusations against you as if it were your own legitimizes those accusations. Describing your sworn enemy the same way he describes himself validates any actions he takes against you because they attach to this identity. Neither are a good idea.
"Just an idea", seems to be very appealing to intellectuals and speaks to the thinking of men and women of thought but not action.

They’d find another excuse if the settlements were removed.
Yeah... I am taking the settlement issue back, no amount of explanation will satisfy the "doubters", they have made up their minds long ago...

Why did Bibi allow this? Honestly don’t know the details.
Quite honestly, some people really don’t have the brains they were born with. This lot must have been born without the intellect part of theirs 😤.
